Autumn and Augustus Barrett seemed perfectly content accepting the fact that their birth parents were most likely dead, though no one ever really bothered to say in the first place. So when their adoptive parents receive a call from their biological father demanding that they be flown out to California for the summer to live with him and their mother, Autumn's life gets turned upside down. Not very good with handling big changes, she feels even more out of place in Huntington Beach than she ever did in her hometown of Mill Creek, Washington. Soon, she may discover that just because she's always trying to avoid trouble, doesn't mean trouble isn't going to find her anyway.

Characters
Anthony O'Connor
Leda's and Hunter's older brother and legal guardian. Tries to "befriend" the Barrett twins to keep up his income for selling drugs; takes a special interest in Autumn.
Augustus Barret
Always the marture, smart and polite one, Gus knows how to keep cool in tricky situations. He loves his twin sister very much and would do anything to keep her safe, even if it means making a risky deal with Anthony.
Austin Carlile
Lead screamer/front-man for the band Of Mice & Men. Accidently gets himself invloved with the O'Connors, but remains loyal to his friends, family, and his morals. [Leda O'Connor's god-brother]
Autumn Barrett
Autumn Barrett never expected her life to amount to much. She pours all of her heart and soul inito her art, trying hard to block out reality around her. Like any normal teen, she just wants people to notice her, but she wishes that when they did notice her, it wouldn't be because they want to protect her like she's a helpless little girl
Dillon Andrews
One of Autumn's and Gus' closest friends from Washington. Worries more about Autumn than Gus, especially when she tells him she's no longer doing her art.
Hunter O'Connor
Anthony's younger brother; wants nothing more than to keep Leda safe from Anthony's rath, while not wanting to betray him to the police, for the fear of being sent to foster care.
Leda O'Connor
Anthony's younger sister and Autumn's first real friend in Huntington Beach. Has been living under Anthony's abusive hand for over a year and wants nothing more than to get out.
