Playing With Fire

An annoying little beep as all I could hear. It was loud and irritating. I opened my eyes and looked around the room. It was only Brian sitting in the chair, sleeping. I shifted in the bed and immediately a wave of pain flashed over my lower abdomen. I groaned and closed my eyes.

"Ever?" I heard Brian ask from the chair.

"Yeah," I groaned and he chuckled.

"What? Is me being in pain funny to you?" I asked.

"Kinda," he chuckled more and got up from the chair.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Um," he paused and then continued, "seven in the morning."

"Wow, I was out for a long time," I looked at him and he smiled.

"She's really beautiful you know," he said.

"I can imagine, have you held her yet?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, I wanted you to hold her first," he smiled and I smiled back. He bent over and planted a kiss on my lips and when he let go I stared at him.

"When did Val and Matt leave?" I asked. Brian looked at the clock and stared for a second.

"At like three in the morning," he answered and looked at me. The door opened and a new nurse walked in.

"Good morning. I'm Jennifer, and I will be your nurse today. How are you feeling?" She asked.

"Sore," I said and she smiled.

"Rate your pain," she said as she went on to disconnect my IV.

"Somewhere between four and five," I said and she nodded.

"Alright, do you want me to bring your new daughter down here?" She asked.

"Yes please," I said.

"Ok, I will do that. Don't forget to order something to eat. Dr. Hansen will be in later today to talk to you," she smiled and left. Brian had walked over to my hospital bag and took out the pajamas I had brought and handed them to me.

"Because I know you want to wear these instead of the gown," he smiled and I grabbed them.

"You know me so well," I moved in the bed and got up. The floor was cold on my bare feet and I felt a shiver grow. I walked to the bathroom and closed the door. This obnoxious pad thing they make me wear is annoying. I pulled off the gown and slipped into my pajama pants and shirt. In the mirror I saw my reflection and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was. My hair was unnaturally greasy and my stomach protruded, but it wasn't bad. I walked back into the room, slowly, and Brian was lounging on the chair, watching TV.

"When did Eric leave?" I asked.

"He went home like an hour ago, he'll be back later. Something about he had to get to the bar because someone called in or something like that," he answered and I nodded while sitting down on the bed. I heard the door open and when I turned, I got this really big smile on my face and stood.

"Here is your perfectly healthy little girl," Jennifer said and I smiled wider as I walked to the side of the small bed. She was sleeping in a blanket. She was so small. I saw a little patch of dark brown hair on the top of her head. The nurse picked her up from the bed and placed her in my arms. I looked down at her and felt the tears begin to fall. She was so beautiful, probably more than what Brian thought. I felt him standing behind me and looking down at her.

"If you have any questions, please hit the pager and I'll be in here in a second, have fun," Jennifer left the room and I turned around and slightly bounced her.

"You look like such a natural," Brian smiled and I looked at him.

"We made this," I said with a smile. He laughed and nodded.

"We did, and if I remember correctly, it was rather fun," he chuckled and I rolled my eyes.

"Can you believe that she's actually here?" I asked.

"It's kinda surreal isn't it?" Brian asked as he carefully hugged me over the baby.

"You know, Eric really wants to be her godfather," I said.

"I know, I think Eric should be her godfather and Val be her godmother," he smiled at me and I looked at him.

"Really? I thought you really wanted Matt to be her godfather," I said.

"I did, but I realized that you've known Eric much longer than you've known me or Matt and he is like a brother to you and we're gonna have more kids, Matt can be the next ones godfather," he explained and I chuckled.

"We're having more? I think I'm good with this one right here," I laughed as I sat down on the bed and continued bouncing her.

"You have told me that you want like three kids, and I might have to take you up on that," he smiled mischievously.

"Ok, you can hold off for a while because you are getting nowhere near me in that way because I just had a baby," I laughed and he chuckled.

"That's fine, I'm just saying,"

"And I'm just saying, we can wait until we get married in December," I laughed and then heard the door open behind me.

"Where is the cute little spawn of Ever?" I heard Eric ask and I laughed.

"She is being all sorts of cute here in my arms," I smiled and Eric walked in front of me.

"So cute, let me take a picture," he held his phone out and took a picture of us.

"Alright, Brian, you wanna hold her?" I asked.

"Dumb question Everleigh," he looked at me and I rolled my eyes as I got up from the bed and handed her to Brian.

"Ok, since you would only tell me her nickname, what is her full name?" Eric asked. I looked at Brian and he shrugged, letting me know I can say it.

"Her full name is actually not what we originally picked but it's similar. It was going to be Emaleigh Kyler Haner, but now it's Kyler Emaleigh Haner," I smiled and Eric smiled back.

"That is so cute. Oh my gosh. We have to get a picture of the new mommy with her favorite person in the world, besides little Ky," Eric came and sat next to me and we put our heads together and Eric snapped the picture. Kyler is the most beautiful person I have laid my eyes on, maybe it's cause I think I'm hot and I think Brian's hot. Who knows?

Yes, new chapter. I am on a roll. Maybe I'm just making up for the like five months without an update? But yes, her name is Kyler Emaleigh Haner! I came up with it all on my own! She will be called either Ky, Kyler, or Emma. Hope you like it!!!
