Playing With Fire

For the last six hours I have been pacing the house, getting through the pain. The contractions started at around three in the morning but I refused to go to the hospital then, and I'm still being stubborn. Brian had been with me but then got called to an emergency band meeting at the studio, so I was alone. From the living room I heard my phone begin to ring. I groaned and grunted as I walked my way to my phone to answer it.

"Hello?" I said and winced in pain.

"Hey Ever, what are you doing?" I heard Eric ask.

"I am currently pacing my house, why?" I asked.

"Why are you pacing your house?" He asked.

"Because Emma has decided she wants to come out," I answered and winced again.

"Are you alone?" He asked.

"Yeah, Brian had to go to a meeting, and I am in so much pain right now," I sighed and heard Eric moving around.

"I am coming over, don't go anywhere," he said.

"Not that I can, my car is in the shop and Brian is gone," I rebutted and he chuckled.

"I'm gonna be her godfather, right?" He asked.

"Me and Brian are still discussing that, he wants Matt o be her godfather, I want you, she may end up with two godfathers and one godmother," I chuckled and then immediately regretted it.

"Ow," I complained and Eric sighed.

"I hate hearing you in pain," he said and then I heard a car start.

"I hate being in pain, I am getting to the point where I want to go to the hospital," I said quietly and Eric sighed again.

"I'll take you up there. Call Brian and let him know," Eric said.

"Ok, this is why I love you Eric," I tried to lighten the mood but another contraction hit and this time it was really painful and I dropped my phone to put my hand on my stomach. Once it was over I bent over and grabbed my phone from the floor. Eric hung up and I hit the button to call Brian. It rang for a bit before going to voice mail. He knows whats going on, why is he ignoring his phone?

"Hey Brian, I've gotten to that point where I want to go to the hospital. Eric is coming over to take me, I'll call you later. Love you. Bye," I left a message and hung up. I closed my eyes and breathed through the smaller contraction. This is the worst possible pain I have been in and it sucks. A few minutes later the front door opened, closed, and Eric came into view.

"Hey sweetie. Is your hospital bag upstairs?" He asked. I nodded and he disappeared upstairs.

"Grab my slippers please!" I yelled and rested my hand on my stomach. She wants to come out, I know that, but she is being a pain in my ass. Eric came running back down the stairs with my bag and slippers in hand. I grabbed them from him and slipped them on my feet.

"I can't believe you're gonna be a mom," he looked like he was getting emotional.

"Don't get emotional on me now Eric, and I know. I've always been the one who was wild and didn't care, now I'm gonna be a mom and married," I smiled as we got to the car. I climbed inside and Eric closed the door. He hurried around the front of the car and got in.

"I think you guys should make me godfather, because you know I wouldn't let anyone hurt her," he turned the corner and sped down the road.

"I know, but it's not completely up to me, Brian is her father," I said and Eric nodded.

"How you feeling now?" He asked.

"Tired and in pain," I answered and he chuckled. We were quiet the rest of the way, well he was quiet, I was grunting and groaning in pain. When we pulled into a spot at the hospital it took me a second to get out of the car because another contraction hit. When it ended, Eric helped me out of the car and into the hospital.

"Hi, what can I do for you?" The nurse asked.

"My friend here is in labor," Eric said as I held my stomach.

"Alright, I'm going to need you to fill out these papers. How long have the contractions been going on?" She asked.

"Since like three this morning, they are just kinda coming and going," I answered and she nodded. I grabbed the pen and clipboard and began filling out the stuff for insurance and everything. Once that was all filled out I handed it back and the nurse helped me to a room.

"Alright, let's get you into the gown and hooked up to the machines," the nurse smiled and handed me the gown. Eric helped me change and I climbed into the bed.

"I'll be right back," the nurse said and left the room. I shifted in the bed uncomfortably and Eric sat down in the chair next to me.

"What did Brian say?" Eric asked.

"He didn't, I left a message," I answered and took a breath. The nurse came back in with two other people and they got to work on getting me an IV started and hooking me up to the heart monitor for the baby and the contraction monitor and that stuff. Eric sat off to the side and watched. Once everything was hooked up two of the people left and the nurse stayed.

"Alright, I'm Hanna, if you need anything, hit this green button and it will call me. I'll be back in about a half hour to check you. The doctor will be in shortly," she smiled and left. I closed my eyes and felt a contraction begin.

"This machine is awesome!" Eric exclaimed and I rolled my eyes. Once the contraction was over I looked at Eric.

"Give me my phone" I told him and sighed. Eric handed me my phone and I dialed Brian's number. It began ringing and I immediately felt even more tired.

"Hello," I herd Brian answer.

"Hey, did you get my message?" I asked.

"Yeah, we're finishing something up really quick and I'll be up there, what room are you in?" He asked.

"I honestly have no idea, but you could ask the nurse," I said.

"Alright, is Eric up there with you?" Brian asked.

"Yeah, he's sitting in the chair watching the contraction machine thing," I laughed and Eric smiled.

"Ok, at least you aren't alone. I'll text you when I'm on the way, alright?"

"Yeah, that's fine, love you," I said.

"Love you too, bye," he said back and hung up. Hopefully he finishes whatever he's doing and gets up here.

Finally a new chapter. I feel so bad for leaving you guys wondering about this, but I will hopefully be able to update a bunch, and maybe even finish the story, before I go to college in a little over two weeks. Hope you guys like it. Part two to come tomorrow or Sunday.
