Playing With Fire

Soft music flowed through the house and into the kitchen as I was standing next to Suzy. A glass of punch was in one hand and the other was resting on my stomach.

"It's funny to think that Brian is going to be married again." Suzy commented and I smiled at her.

"I know, I was a big fan of the band for a while before I met them, and it's kind of surreal that I'm getting married and having the child of a member of the band." I smiled bigger and she smiled back.

"Well, I'm glad that you're gonna be in the Haner family." She wrapped an arm around my shoulders and gave me a short hug. We separated and walked out into the living room and saw Brian and Mckenna arm wrestling. I smirked and sat down next to Brian and put my hand on his knee. Mckenna slammed Brian's hand down and jumped up and cheered.

"I beat you! Ha!" She laughed and fell back on the couch.

"Alright kids, time to eat." Suzy said and we all got up, Brian's hand in mine, and walked to the kitchen table. I sat down and took a breath. I'm only five months, 22 weeks to be exact, but walking makes me have to catch my breath.

"So have you two decided anything about the wedding?" Mckenna asked.

"Um, we decided on the date." I smiled sheepishly.

"Oh really? When?" Suzy asked.

"June 28 of next year." I said and she smiled.

"Awe, a summer wedding. I'm one of your bridesmaids, right?" Mckenna asked.

"Mckenna. You don't just ask people to be their bridesmaid." Suzy scolded her.

"Suzy, it's ok, yes Mckenna, you are gonna be one of my bridesmaids. I have to have four, since the bozo has to have four groomsmen." I pointed at Brian and he smiled while chewing a piece of meat.

"That's gross." I scrunched my face and he chuckled after swallowing the food.

"Anything else planned?" Papa Gates asked.

"Not really." Brian said and Suzy and Papa smirked.

"Well, you do have a little over six months to decide." Suzy commented and I smiled.

"I am going to be eating so much food today it's crazy." I sighed and Brian rubbed my knee.

"You two should get maternity photos done." Suzy suddenly said. I looked at her with confused eyes.

"Maternity pictures?" I asked and she nodded.

"Yeah, pictures while you're pregnant, with Brian." She said and I looked at Brian and he looked at me and shrugged.

"Sounds interesting." I stated and yawned.


After an hour of eating and talking, me and Suzy were in the kitchen washing the dishes.

"Are you and Brian going to find out what you're having?" She asked.

"I want to know, and so does he, but I just don't know right now. It's like I want to know so I can start decorating and stuff, but I don't want to know at the same time." I explained.

"That's understandable. What are you hoping for?" She asked.

"I want a little boy. I've always wanted a boy though." I said and set the dish I was drying down.

"Boys are a pain in the butt." She laughed and I smiled.

"Considering who the kids father is, boy or girl, they are going to be a pain in my butt." I laughed and she chuckled.

"Alright, time for presents." She walked out into the living room and began handing out presents as I sat down next to Brian.

"Here you go Ever." She said and I grabbed it.

"You didn't have to buy me anything Suzy." I said.

"Oh hush you. You are marrying Brian and are becoming a part of this family, you get a present." She chuckled and handed Brian a box. Brian then started handing out the presents that we got. Once the presents were handed out, Mckenna began opening her presents.

"Dude, you guys got me an iPod touch fourth gen?!" She yelped and a huge smile was on her face. I laid my head on Brian's chest and he had his arm around my shoulders.

"Open the one we got you." I smiled and she grabbed the box and opened it to reveal a semi crop top with a big star on it.

"This is so pretty!" She yelped again and ran over to me and gave me a hug.

"You're welcome Mckenna." I whispered to her and she smiled and sat back down.

"Ok Ever. Your turn." Papa Gates said and I shifted to sit up and grabbed a small-ish box from Mckenna.

"You got me something?" I asked her and she smiled. I opened it and found a hat that said 'Boo You Whore' from Mean Girls and inside the hat was a phone case that said 'Baddest Bitch'. I smiled and hid the phone case from Suzy and Papa Gates. I moved on and grabbed one of the boxes from Suzy and Papa. My hands tore the wrapping paper and it revealed a box that held six mood candles. I smiled and set them aside and grabbed the other box. Suzy got excited as I opened it and I smiled and chuckled when I realized it was a pair of high heeled boots.

"These are adorable." I smiled and set them down.


We opened presents for a short while after that and sat around for a while before Brian got a call from Matt asking where we were.

"Well Dad, we're gonna head out. Matt and Val are getting impatient." Brian said and stood up and helped me get up.

"Alright, well, Merry Christmas you two." Papa said and gave us both a hug. We said our good byes and left. I sat in the car and yawned again.

"I am so tired these days man." I said and Brian smiled.

"Can you believe that in four months, our kid is gonna be here?" He asked and I looked at him.

"Nope. I also can't believe that a little over a year and a half ago, I was living in a house with my friends and being a bum and drinking all the time, and now look at me." I sighed as Brian pulled into Matt and Val's driveway. We got out and walked into the house and the immediate scent of sugar cookies hit my nose.

"Val was baking." I said to Brian and we walked into the living room to see our group of friends and their respective others sitting on the couches.

"Ever and Brian are here!" Val yelled and got up.

"Let's get the food now." Johnny commented and I looked at them.

"Don't know how much I'm gonna eat, since we just had a hefty meal, but I'll try." I laughed and walked into the kitchen. Christmas is fun, always has been, always will be, especially with this group.

Notes

New chapter, and only a day later!!! Kinda sucks in my opinion, but whatever. Next chapter is gonna be New Years Eve!!!!!
