Playing With Fire

Brightly colored wrapping paper and tape scattered on the floor was all I could see. I was busy wrapping presents for Brian's family for christmas and for our little group of friends. Brian was sitting on the couch watching me and entertaining himself. My five month belly was starting to get in the way of everything and made it difficult to do this small job.

"Brian." I whined. "Come down here and help me before I crush our unborn child." He chuckled and climbed off of the couch and began helping me do this.

"So, it's our second Christmas together, by the way." He said and kissed my cheek.

"I know." I smiled. "Hence why you go two Christmas gifts from me."

"Damn, you only got like four things from me." He taped a present and set it aside and grabbed another small box.

"Who is this for?" He asked.

"Val." I said simply and he opened it and found a really pretty necklace.

"How come she gets something so pretty looking?" He asked.

"Cause she's my best friend, and she likes pretty things." I said and he shook his head and handed it to me and I got to wrapping it.

"Next Christmas, we're gonna be married and have our kid here." Brian wrapped his arms around my shoulders and kissed me ear.

"I know, I've been thinking the same thing, but babe, if we don't get this shit wrapped tonight, we are screwed for tomorrow." I sighed and he let go to let me finish.

"We're going to my parents house first, then to Matt and Val's?" He asked as he walked into the kitchen.

"Yeah. But Matt and Val's isn't until like five or six in the evening. Done!" I yelled and threw my hands up. Brian chuckled again from the kitchen and I rolled my eyes and got up slowly.

"Come help me put this stuff under the tree." I said and Brian walked into the room with a sandwich in his hand and began moving things under the tree. When we were done with that I wrapped my arms around Brian's waist and laid my head on his chest.

"You know, we haven't really planned anything for the wedding yet?" Brian asked me and I smiled.

"I know, but we have some time before we have to do that." I said.

"But, we should at least find a date to get married so our friends can know." He suggested and I took a breath.

"Ok, that sounds easy enough. When do you wanna get married?" I asked.

"Well, Baby Haner is due in April and you want to get married after the kid is here, so I say like June 28." He suggested and I looked up at him.

"I like it, I've always wanted to get married in the summer." I smiled again and let go of Brian and looked at the clock.

"Shit, it's one thirty. I'm going to bed." I told Brian and then made my way up the stairs. I got to my bedroom and sigh as I looked at the bed and realized I had to move the blankets to get into them. My head dropped as I walked to the dresser to grab out a large tee shirt and a pair of shorts, and then I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower to take a quick shower.

After I finished with my shower I got out and got into my pajamas and brushed my hair. Once that was done, I walked out of the bathroom and into the bedroom and got to getting the bed ready to sleep in. My hand grabbed the heavy blanket and pulled it back and then moved the extra pillows. My body was extremely tired and I climbed into the bed and pulled the blankets up over my shoulders and cuddled into them and yawned before closing my eyes and falling asleep.


In the morning, I woke up slowly to see the sun shining brightly through the window and a sleeping Brian facing me. I yawned and pushed my blankets off of me and got out of the bed. The sensation to take a piss ran over me and I ran to the bathroom quickly and did my business. One look in the mirror told me I did not sleep well. I ran the brush through my hair and walked back out into the bedroom and then left the room to go downstairs to make something to eat. As I walked into the kitchen, I heard my phone go off from in the living room. A sigh escaped my lips as I walked over to it and picked it up, answering it.

"Hello." I said.

"Hey Ever, did I wake you?" I heard Suzy ask.

"No, I'm down in the kitchen, and my phone was in the living room." I said and walked back to the kitchen and opened the fridge.

"Oh, good. I was wondering if you could possibly bring some sort of dessert for after dinner tonight." She asked.

"Um, I don't see a problem with that. Is something store bought out of the question?" I asked.

"No of course not. I just realized I don't have the time to make anything today, and I completely forgot to make anything yesterday, so." She laughed and I smiled while putting frozen waffles into the toaster.

"That's fine, that's gonna be me after me and Brian get married and have this kid." A chuckle escaped my mouth and I leaned against the counter.

"Hun, it will most definitely be you when once you have your family. What time are you and Brian planning on coming over?" She asked.

"Well, I have to get the lazy bum out of bed, but I think sometime within the next two ish hours." I said after noticing it was nine in the morning.

"Ok, that sounds perfect. Well, why don't you get back to whatever you were doing. I'll see you later." She said and then hung up. I set my phone down and grabbed my waffles and walked to the living room and turned on the TV after sitting down. The Christmas Parade was on. I was watching the parade quietly, when I felt a flutter in my stomach that made me stop breathing for a second in surprise. Oh my god, the baby just kicked. A huge grin appeared on my face and I put my hands on my stomach and rubbed it, hoping it would kick again. And it did. This time it was with more power and I definitely felt it. Brian appeared in the doorway to the living room shortly after that with hair that was sticking up all over the place. He sat down next to me and laid his head on my shoulder.

"Guess what Brian." I asked and he grunted.

"The baby kicked a little bit ago." I smiled and his head shot up and he looked at me.

"Really?" He asked and then put his hands on my stomach and rubbed it.

"I'm not the Buddha." I chuckled and then felt a flutter. The look on Brian's face was priceless.

"That was fucking awesome." He smiled and then kissed me out of the blue.

"It is, isn't it? Alright, we need to go get dressed and shower and shit, so we can grab some sort of dessert from the store before going to your parents house." I said and Brian looked at me.

"Suzy called this morning and asked me to bring a dessert because she doesn't have time to make one." I explained and he nodded and stood.

"Should I wear my black button up, or that sweater you bought me?" Brian asked as we walked to the bedroom.

"I like the button up one, with those one black dress pants. But if you want to wear the sweater, go for it." I answered and grabbed my dress from the closet and slipped into it easily. I picked up the white belt from the dresser and clasped it around my waist before walking out to the room and looking at Brian, he had on the pants, but was shirtless.

"Dude, pose for me." I said and held my phone up and he did this weird, awkward pose. I snapped a picture and smiled and made it my lock screen photo.

"I'm gonna go with the sweater." He said and pulled it on and walked out of the room. I grabbed my heels and walked out and downstairs. I hope today it a good day.

Ok, so I know it is a wee bit late for a Christmas chapter, or two, but I had writer's block and completely forgot to. So, the next one is gonna be part two and then the chapter after that is gonna be a new years one.
