Surprises and a Little Tension

Tammy let out a frustrated sigh as she tore out another page from her notebook, and crumpled it up. "This shit is starting to piss me off." she grumbled. An amused smile started to make its way across Kimmie's face. Yeah, she found it amusing when Tammy got frustrated, mumbling and grumbling to herself as she cursed whatever was ticking her off. "Stupid fucking poem. Like anyone has time for this stupid shit." Kimmie pulled herself away from her lunch, "What are you cursing to eternal damnation?" she asked, not hiding her amusement.

Tammy looked up at her annoyed, not with Kimmie, but with this assignment. "This dumb love poem for Lit that's," she paused, and glanced at her watch, "Due in fifteen fucking minutes, and I can't come up with shit. I've never been in love. I don't time for that crap." she let out a groan, and put her head down on the table. "I think you're over thinking it," Kimmie told her, and she looked up, "Does it have to be romantic love?" she asked. "No. I don't think it does," Tammy said, lifting her head back up, "I tried to write about my mom, but that got too hard." she said softly.

Kimmie thought for a moment, "You could always write about your love for video games, and all things horror." she suggested, trying to bring the mood up a little, and succeeding. Tammy let out a chuckle, "I think Mr. Haner wants something a little deeper than that." she said. "Yooou could write about him." Kimmie said with a small knowing smile. "Who?" Tammy played dumb, knowing exactly who she was talking about. "Mr. Haner." she said simply as she went back to her lunch. "Why would I do that?" Kimmie looked back at her, "Because you luuuvvv him." she teased.

Tammy's mouth dropped, but you could see a smile on it, "Shut up I do not." she said playfully shoving her. "Yes you do," Kimmie continued to tease, "Don't even try to deny it." she said. "It is a small little crush, and that is not love. It is an infatuation." Tammy told her in a hushed tone, not that anyone would probably hear her in the loud cafeteria. A challenging little smile came out on Kimmie's face as she decided to take on this argument. "Infatuation is a form of love." she said. "False love." Tammy stated. "I still heard the word love, Miss Condescending." Kimmie said tilting her head a little.

Tammy narrowed her eyes at her friend with her little smile, thinking she won this one. "I can't write about the teacher I'm handing the assignment in to." she pointed out. Kimmie rolled her eyes a little, "Its not like you have to title it A Love Poem for Mr. Haner, or even mention the person in it is a teacher." she argued. Tammy pursed her lips, not really having a response to that. Her eyes narrowed more as that victorious smile started to make its way out on her friend's face. "You have a point." she said, conceding. "Yay, I won." Kimmie cheered, and both girls started to giggle a little.

Their giggles quickly silenced when someone sat down across from them. Kimmie felt her cheeks heat up when her eyes met Aaron's, "Hey." he grinned at her. "Hi." she said kind of shy looking away. Tammy looked between the two confused, taking notice of Kimmie's very red face before fixing her gaze on the jock sitting across from them. "Are you lost?" she asked cocking a brow, and he looked at her. "No. I wanted to talk to Kim." he said, shifting his gaze back to her. "Why?" she continued, staring suspiciously at him. "Tammy." Kimmie whispered, a little embarrassed hoping she would stop. "It's a viable question." she stated not tearing her gaze from Aaron.

Kimmie let out a sigh, and looked down at her tray. "I just wanted to check up, and make sure she was alright." Aaron told her. Tammy looked at him a little confused before turning that look to Kimmie. "What's he talking about?" she asked. "I ran into her at the park last night, and gave her a ride to your place." Aaron answered for her. "Kimmie?" Tammy pressed, the tone of her voice telling Kimmie exactly what she was questioning. She responded with a look that told her everything she needed, and Tammy relaxed a little. "Did you guys just communicate telepathically?" Aaron asked, observing the exchange of expressions. "Yeah, we have ESPN." Tammy told him nonchalantly, not even looking at him.

Aaron narrowed his eyes, glancing between the girls, noticing them trying to hold back smiles. "Did you just crack a joke?" They couldn't hold them back anymore. "Wow, you're quick." Tammy told him with a small chuckle. Aaron let his own smile come out, "Well if cracking jokes at my expense keeps those pretty smiles out, then by all means have at it." he told her. Kimmie felt her cheeks heat up again, and Tammy cocked a brow at him, not buying into his charm. "Yeah, well we were having a conversation, so if you don't mind." she said, shooing him away with her hand. "Actually I have something else I was wondering." he said looking to Kimmie. "It can wait," Tammy said, starting to get a little possessive of her friend, "You have all next period with her. I get her for the next-"

The end of lunch bell cut her off. "Son of a bitch!" she let out kind of loud, plopping her forehead down on her blank notebook. Kimmie smirked, while Aaron looked confused. "You didn't get your assignment done." she teased in song. "Thank you Captain Obvious." Tammy grumbled looking up at her, and her smirk. "What are you going to do?" Kimmie asked as they stood to dump their trays, Aaron trailing along. "I don't know. Try to shit one out before the end of class." she said, a little unsure. "I'm sure he would give you an extension." Kimmie told her as they started to walk to class. Tammy sighed, she really didn't want to hand it in late. "Can't graduate early handing in late assignments." she said. "I think you'll be fine." Kimmie told her. They pretty much had that in the bag already. "What's the big deal? It's just one assignment," Aaron piped up, "I've missed some homework, and still passing."

Tammy looked back at him, tagging along behind them, "You're still here?" she asked, not hiding the annoyance in her voice. Aaron frowned, and Kimmie was getting a little tired of the way she was acting towards him. "Don't mind her. She just doesn't want to disappoint her favorite teacher." she said. "I'm going to stop you right there." Tammy warned. "You should do the same." Kimmie told her. "You guys are kind of entertaining." Aaron said with a smile, a little clueless to the slight tension between the two. Tammy gave Kimmie a disapproving look, "Glad we could amuse you." she sarcastically replied before turning down the hall to her class, and walking away.

Kimmie let out a sigh, and continued down the hall towards the locker rooms. Aaron took Tammy's place next to her, and looked a little concerned. "Did I cause some friction there?" he asked. Kimmie looked at him, and smiled softly "Don't worry about it. I think you just caught her off guard when you sat down, and she didn't know how to handle the situation, so she turned on the bitch switch," she told him, and he smiled a little, "She get over it."

Aaron nodded in understanding, "Well I hope so. I kind of enjoy spending time with you, and wouldn't mind doing it more often." he said as they reached the locker room. Kimmie felt her cheeks burning once again. "I'm sure she'll get use to you." she said, not meeting his eyes. "Or I could just hang out with you." he suggested, stepping closer to her. Kimmie looked up at him, a smirk playing on his lips. She felt a wave of confidence flow through her, and she decided she wasn't going to give into him that easily. She didn't know why he has this sudden interest in her, and if it was a real interest, he would work for it.

"Well we're a packaged deal, so" she said with her own little smirk, closing more of the distance between them, "If you want me," she continued looking up at him, not knowing where this girl was coming from, "You have to win over her." she finished, knowing that would probably be the hardest thing he'll ever have to do. Kimmie stepped back, the playful smile still on her face as she watched him let out a breath. "See you in class." she said, turning away, and disappearing into the girls locker room.

Tammy took a deep breath before walking into that classroom. She had no idea what she was going to tell Mr. Haner. She tried to walk right past him, and to her desk, but should have known better. "No assignment for me?" he asked, stopping her in her tracks. She could hear the hint of teasing in his voice, and tried to play it cool, "Yes, you just can't have it till the end of class." she said when she faced him. "Why not?" he asked, not buying her act at all. "That way you can't read it before I leave." she told him.

Brian studied her for a moment, knowing she didn't have the assignment done. He wasn't born yesterday, and has heard every excuse in the book for late assignments. This one was new, but it could be added to the list now. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "I usually save it for last anyway, so can go ahead, and hand it in now." he told her. Which was true. He discovered he was a little more critical of others if he read hers first, so he saved them for last to be fair. Maybe that had a reverse affect, and made hers seem better.

Tammy felt her cheek heat up, not knowing what to say to him. She's never been late on an assignment, and it was a little embarrassing. A teasing smirk came out on Brian's face as he leaned forward, and folded his hands on his desk. "You don't have it, do you?" he asked. "I never said that." she defended. "Didn't deny it either," he said the smirk still present as he leaned back again in his chair, and put his hands behind his head, "I can give you an extension if you want." he said. Tammy frowned, but she wasn't going to give in yet. "I don't need an extension," she said turning away from him, "You'll get your dumb poem." she mumbled as she walked away, hearing him chuckle behind her.

Tammy dropped down in her seat, and pulled her notebook out, setting it on her desk. She looked up towards the front of the room, and caught Mr. Haner's stupid smirk, and cocked brow. She causally gave him the finger as she "scratched" an "itch" on the side of her face. A grin made its way out when she seen him shake his head, but the smile still present before starting his class.

Tammy leaned back in her chair, and lightly tapped her notebook with her pencil as she listened to Mr. Haner talk. Honestly she could listen to this man talk all day. He could be talking about a bear shitting in the woods, and he would still have her full attention. With a small sigh, Tammy looked down at her blank page, and back to Mr. Haner. She chewed on her lip as she started to let the words form on the paper, coming easier than she expected. The whole time a nagging voice in the back of her mind was telling her it was a bad idea, but it was like she couldn't stop her hand from moving.

Every once in a while, Tammy would look up as he spoke before the students, so full of confidence. There was always a small smile on his face, one she was sure she would never grow tired of seeing. After a few moments, she set her pencil down on her now finished poem, looking between it, and Mr. Haner. She must have read it a hundred times before the bell rang ending class. The entire time, cursing Kimmie for putting the idea in her head, but damn it, it worked. She just hoped he wouldn't be able to tell who the inspiration was behind it. She really liked the kind of teacher/student relationship they had, and didn't want to make it awkward.

Tammy glanced to the front of the class as she readied to leave, seeing Mr. Haner propped against his waiting for her, with that damn smirk that was sexy as hell, but pissing her off at the same time. She tore the page out, and left it before walking to the front of the class, and passing him. "Where's my assignment?" he asked with a little bit of tease in his voice. Tammy turned around to face him, but kept walking backwards toward the door. "On my desk." she said with a smile. "Where you wrote it?" he continued to poke fun as he walked to her desk. "I never said that." she said, reaching the door, and opening it. "Didn't deny it either!" he called after her as she left.

Brian chuckled, and shook his head when she gave another finger, behind her back as the door closed. If it was anybody else, he probably wouldn't let them get away with it, but he kind of had a soft spot for her. Tammy was a good student, and didn't cause problems, unless provoked. Then she's usually was just not putting up with Scarlette's shit. He could also tell she was struggling with something. He could see it in her writing. Brian wouldn't pry, but he was at least going to make her feel like she has a friend in him, and someone she could trust if she needed some kind of adult authority figure.

Brian scooped up the paper off the desk, and stuck it a the bottom of the pile on his desk. He was less tempted to read it that way. He sat in his chair as students for is last class started to file in. The day was almost over, and he couldn't wait. The guys were coming over, and they were planning on going out tonight. Matt wanted to get smashed one last time before he became a dad. He knows he probably won't have much time for partying after the baby came.

Matt stood in the locker room hall, monitoring students as they passed in the hall. He was also waiting for Kim to come out of the locker room. Basketball season was coming up, and he was hoping he could talk her into joining the team. They've played a few times in class, including today, and she was actually pretty good at the game. He smiled a little when she finally came out, and he started to walk towards her. Matt was sure he had an offer she couldn't refuse, and was confident he could get her on the team. He was also hoping to help himself out in the process. "Hey, Kim can talk to for a minute?" he asked once in ear shot, stopping her.

Kimmie turned, and watched Coach Sanders walk over to her, wondering if maybe she knocked Grace on her ass one to many times today. Well then maybe he shouldn't have made them captains of opposite teams. "What's up?" she asked. "Basketball season is coming up. I want you on the varsity team." he told her. Kimmie looked at him a little surprised, and unsure, "I haven't played basketball the entire time I've gone to this school." she said. "I've seen you play in class, and I could really use you." he told her. "I don't know." she said still unsure. She didn't mind the game, but she wasn't really into school sports. "Please," he almost started to plead before pulling out his sure thing, "I can finally get Grace off the team."

Matt watched the small smile come out as she thought about it. He knew that would get her to at least consider, and hopefully he would have one less place to deal with Grace. That and help the team out. He made them captains today for a reason. To compare, even though he was sure there would be no comparison. Kim was just plain better. "Can I have the weekend to think about it?" she asked. "Absolutely. Just let me know Monday." he told her. "Know what?" a voice sounded behind him.

Tammy walked around him, and joined Kimmie's side. "Basketball." Matt simply grinned. "He wants me to join the team." Kimmie clarified for her. "Oh." she said with a slight nod. "Yeah, so let me know," Matt said looking at his watch, "You should probably get to class." The girls smiled, "Shit, we're outta here." Tammy said, linking their arms. Matt chuckled a little, letting the language slide, "Then have a good weekend." he said before leaving to get to his last class, a smile coming out cause he knew he would.

The girls walked out the side door, and around to the parking lot. "You going to join the team?" Tammy asked as they walked. "I don't know. Doesn't it cost money to play?" Kimmie asked. "I think there's some fees, and you need shoes with ankle support, but I got that shit," Tammy told her as they climbed in the car, "I'll give you a ride back and forth to practice, and games too if you want to join." she offered. Kimmie thought about it for a moment. She didn't really like Tammy doing all this stuff for her, but she also knew she would hear no argument of it. "I might. He's going to kick Grace off the team if I do." she said grinning a little. "Well that's reason enough." Tammy told her grinning too.

The car fell silent for a moment as they drove. "So, um what's up with you and Aaron?" Tammy finally asked. She may have been in a better mood after class, but she hadn't forgot about it. "I don't know," Kimmie sighed out, "What the hell was up with you?" she asked also not forgetting how rude Tammy was to him. "I'm sorry, but he sits down out of the blue asking if you're okay. I didn't even know you saw him last night. Why didn't you tell me?" Kimmie felt her cheeks get warm as she thought about last night, and even hotter when she thought about what he asked her in gym.

Tammy glanced at her, "That," she said pointing at Kimmie's face, "That's exactly what has me wondering. Why do you keep blushing?" she pressed. "Alright, shut up and let me talk," Kimmie said caving, "I was sitting at the park and he saw me. We hung out for a little bit, and he brought me to your house," she said looking out the window as if that was simply all there was to the story, "And he may have kissed me." she finished at a barely audible mumble.

Tammy slammed on the brakes, almost running a red light from the shock. "And you didn't tell me! You bitch!" she yelled, but clearly not mad. "I was still having a hard time believing it happened." Kimmie defended, smiling a little at the shocked look on Tammy's face. Wait till she hears what he asked in gym. "He wants me to go out with him tomorrow night." Tammy's shocked smile faded, and she closed her mouth. "What happened with Grace?" she asked, going through the light when it turned green. "He said they broke up this morning." Kimmie told her.

Tammy gave her a look, and Kimmie could tell she didn't like the idea. "And he's already moving to the next?" she questioned. Seemed a little suspicious to her. "Well he was kind of over her already. When we talked last night, he told me he things were rocky, and he's been thinking about breaking up with her." Kimmie explained. "I don't know Kimmie have you thought about this? I mean you and Grace don't exactly have a loving relationship, and now you might be taking her spot on the basketball team, and her boyfriend," Tammy pointed out, watching her face fall a little, "I just want you to be careful." she said feeling a little bad for raining on her parade.

Kimmie let out a sigh, and rested her chin in her hand, "Yeah I've thought about that, and honestly, I don't really give a shit about her. What's she going to do? Try to slap me, then cry when she breaks a nail?" Kimmie asked with a slight chuckle and a smile. "That's the spirit!" Tammy said, trying to be supportive of her friend.

She didn't want to share her as selfish as it sounds, but she also didn't want to stand in her way. "Are you going to go out with him?" she asked. Kimmie nodded, "I told him to pick me up at your house. Is that okay? I can call him if its not. I just-" Tammy stopped her with a pat on the hand. "I know, it's fine." she told her knowing she didn't want him to met her mom. Nathan was on call tomorrow night, and he might not be there. Even if he was though, he always liked to pretend they had this perfect happy father daughter relationship when there were other people around. It made her sick, but it would be less embarrassing for Kimmie.

Tammy could tell she really liked him, and she was going to try to be supportive, but she didn't trust Aaron not to hurt her. So she was just going to have to keep a close eye on him. Hopefully she's wrong, and won't have to beat the shit out of him.

Notes

So I woke up this morning thinking I was almost done with this chapter, and ended up making it almost twice as long as it was....
Hope you like it, and its not too much :)
I just could not wrap it up for some reason...

Comments

@Kimmie
This totally made up for the wait :)

First Brian. He's just not use to having to hide something like this like Tammy has. She's had her crush for awhile and is use to hiding secrets and actions. Some of what he does is completely innocent, just trying to make her feel better, but the other he just doesn't know how to deal with or control it. But like I said in a previous comment...someone is about to gum up the works.

As for Tammy turning on the bitch switch with Kimmie, she knows she fucked up. First day back was an uncomfortable shock to her and she took it out on the wrong person. But I think the little pep talk she got from her favorite teacher will help.

And finally Matt. What can I say about this poor broken man? It's going to take some time for him to get over this. The love of his life is gone now and he just doesn't know how to deal. It's not something someone just gets over. Eventually he's going to see though that there's someone else out there that can love him just as much if not more :)

always love you long comments Hot Stuff <3

OK first, I'm sorry I'm "sooooo late" with my comment ;-) :P
Here goes! Get ready!

Brian, my friend, you are getting onto thin ice. Getting in between a funny back and forth between friends? Asking for a HotStuff (don't be jealous of the girl friends man, not cool), checking to hear if you are still hot? Putting your hand on her thigh? HOLDING HER FUCKING HAND?!!?! Brian, you are soooo deep in right now. And you fucking know it. If you really aren't ready to admit yet, you shouldn't even get in everything I mentioned before and try to pretend to be a grown up man who doesn't have a quickly developing crush on his fosterchild. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for him to fall of the wagon, but for the storysake and the "it's all wrong"-sake... you should at least pretend :P

Okay, I can skip the school stuff right? I mean, she doesn't want to move away from Brian anyway and everything else was just.. well.. maybe she'll make it anyway, but who cares... I have more important stuff to get to.

For the first time this story I kinda didn't like Tammy. She was selfish instead of supporting her friend. I don't really like Aaron, but for now he is nice to Kimmie and so are his friends. I get all the issues Tammy always had, but she had no right to go off on Kimmie like that. That's just mean. I know I know, she had her reasons. I know she's been through a lot, but I still didn't like it. Kimmie didn't deserve it.

Oh, one thing more about the school day... I do love all the sarcastic remarks. But you know... that's your writing. You make it seem so effortless and I know it's not, but just take the compliment, okay? You make it seem so so damn lifely, and I really feel like being there. Like standing there watching the scene. It's amazing.

Allright, let's get to my man Matt. My heart breaks everytime you write about him. I know it's too soon to get better, but I really want it to. I hate seeing him hurt like this. Trying his best over all his grief. I really can't stand seeing him like this. But I love how Kimmie knows this baby stuff. How she so easily gets the baby to be quiet and calm. And what I like most about it is that she isn't solving it for Matt, but teaching him how. But damn, just fix the man soon, I can't take it.
And here's a small peek of the fangirl.. I can't wait for Kimmie to spend more time with Matt and Aiden, taking care of the small guy.

I hope this comment makes up for me being not here on the first day. I'll just end with what I always do.. Please, Please, Please write! I'm begging you, this story makes my day, my week, my life. I want to read more now things are looking up!

Love you lekker ding! <3
