We All Fall Down

Tammy flicked away the roach of her joint, and laid back on the roof with her hands behind her head. The night sky was clear, and littered with stars. She let out a small sigh, completely at peace with her life. She couldn't remember the last time she felt this good. For once things were going right. For once she wasn't living in fear. Maybe now she could have a real life, a real future. Tammy's stomach growled, and she sat up with a small smile. "Fuckin munchies." she cursed herself as she climbed back through the window. She shut the light off as she left her room, and skipped down the stairs to the kitchen.

She rummaged around in the cupboards looking for something quick to make before a box of lasagna noodles caught her eye. It wasn't quick, but everyone ran out in a hurry, maybe they were hungry too. However, there was only enough stuff to make one. She didn't know how many people would be at the hospital, but she was sure one wouldn't be enough. The store wasn't far. She had money. She just didn't want to carry all that shit back. Tammy walked over to the garage door, and opened it. She stood there for a moment chewing on her lip. Brian probably wouldn't like it if she took this covered car in here. Something told her it was important to him. She let out a sigh, and was about to close the door when something else caught her eye. There was a bike against the wall. It was a guys bike, but it would work. She pushed the button next to the door to open the garage, and wheeled the bike outside. She shut the garage door before running back in the house, and up the stairs to grab some money, and out the front door she went.

It took less time to get to the store than it did to get what she needed, and get out of there. Tammy hated Wal-Mart. The lines were snaking into the aisles. Would it kill them to open more than four lanes. Standing in a barely moving line, surrounded by all these people wasn't doing her anxiety any favors, and by the time it was her turn, she was on the verge of murdering someone. Figuratively speaking anyway. Of course if this casher didn't light a fire under her ass, Tammy was sure she would. Literally. She grabbed the two bags, and rushed out the door, not bothering with her change, or the receipt. She just wanted to get the hell out of this place. She hung each bag on a handle bar before peddling her ass as fast as she could back home. It must be a teenager thing cause as soon as she was in the yard, she grabbed the bags, and let the bike fall to the grass to stay.

Tammy ran into the house, locking the door behind her. She flicked on the kitchen light, and set the bags on the island before taking a moment to catch her breath. Now it was too quiet, and that was almost worse. Tammy walked into the living room, and turned on the stereo. She was going to just listen to the radio until Nickleback came flowing through the speakers. "Yuck." she said, shutting that shit off quick. It was a good thing Brian had a good selection of music, and a multi-disk player. She could just hook up her MP3 player, but then she wouldn't be able to slip some of their demos in. Once she had a nice mix going, Tammy went back into the kitchen to start the lasagnas. She didn't have time to make sauce, so she just bought a few jars. She could add stuff to it to bring it up to her standards.

Of course Tammy knew there was no way she was going to be able to carry two lasagnas all the way to the hospital on a bike, but she had a plan for that. Once she had the food in the oven, she grabbed the phone, and plopped down on her back on the couch. She dialed Kimmie's home number, figuring that's where she would be since everyone else was at the hospital, but it wasn't Kimmie that answered. "Hello?" Tammy sat strait up. Damn it she was not ready to hear this woman's voice. "Um...is Kimmie there?" she asked, trying hard to keep the bitterness out of her voice. "Uh...no, she's at the hospital with her teacher." Victoria sounded just as equally uncomfortable. "Okay, thanks." Tammy rushed out want to end this call quickly, but she didn't get a chance to hang up. "Tammy, wait." Victoria stopped her. "What do want?" this time she didn't hide the irritation. "To apologize." she told her. "I don't need your apology." Tammy went to hang up again, but again was stopped. "You may not need to hear it, but I need to do it." Victoria sounded frustrated. Tammy let out an exasperated sigh. "No, you need to save your apology for Kimmie." she started getting sharper with her tone. "She hears it everyday, and there isn't a waking minute that the guilt isn't tearing me apart, but this isn't about her. This is about you and that..." Victoria had to stop, to choke back a sob, "I am so sorry I sent you home with that man."

Tammy blinked back her own frustrated, angry tears. "You know what? Don't worry about it. You didn't know, so it's not your fault, but was is your fault is how you broke down your daughter to almost nothing, and if you want my forgiveness then you need to do this one hundred percent for her. You need to show me that you can be the mother she needs and deserves. Then I'll forgive you." and with that Tammy hung up. This was not the conversation she needed tonight. Tammy wiped her cheeks of a few stray tears that made their way out before dialing Brian's cell. "Hey, everything alright?" he answered quickly, making her smile. Always so concerned. "Give Kimmie your keys, so she can come get me." she told him. "I am not just giving Kimmie my keys." he said obviously. "I made food." she said, giggling at what she heard over the line. "Go get Tammy." she could hear the jingle of the immediate key exchange. "She's on her way." he said, and she giggled again. "Thank you."

There was about five minutes left on the timer when Tammy heard a car pull in. She watched through the peep hole to make sure it was Kimmie before unlocking, and opening the door. "Hey." she said as Kimmie stepped in. "Hi. Brian said something about food." she grinned as Tammy shut the door. "I made lasagna," Tammy said as Kimmie took a deep smell of the delicious air, "Is there a lot of people there?" she asked as the pair walked into the kitchen. "A little over ten or so," Kimmie told her, "Val's sister hasn't gotten there yet." she said, and Tammy nodded as the timer went off. "I didn't know you were there, and ended up having a rather uncomfortable conversation with your mother." Tammy said as she pulled out the lasagna. "What happened?" Kimmie looked a little concerned. "She wanted to apologize to me," she said as she covered the food with foil, "I told her I didn't need her apology." she said. "Please don't make this harder on her." Kimmie said knowing just how her bestfriend could be. "I'm not," Tammy stated, "I don't need her to apologize to me for something she had no idea she was sending me into. I told her that I would forgive her when she proved she could be a proper mother to you. That's all I want out of her." she said, and Kimmie smiled a little. "Well just try to be nice." she said. "I'll try if she tries."

Tammy grabbed a spatula and a knife, and stuck it in the grocery bag that had the paper plates and plastic silverware in it. She had Kimmie carry the bag and a towel to the car as she carried the food. Kimmie laid the towel over the back seat, and Tammy folded it around the covered lasagnas. She strapped the seat belt around them, so they wouldn't slide around, and Kimmie tossed the bag in the seat next to them. Traffic was light, and it didn't take too long for them to get back to the hospital. Tammy followed Kimmie to the maternity ward since she had no idea where it was. They were immediately greeted by Jimmy as they walked into the waiting room. "You brought me food," he said grabbing the two pans from the girls hands, "You brought stuff for everyone else right?" he asked with a grin. "This is for everyone." Tammy said managing to get one of the pans back from him. "Okay, they can have that one, and I'll take this one." he tried to compromise. "No." she simply stated with a hand on her hip. "Fiiiine. I'll share." he groaned in defeat as he handed the pan back to Kimmie.

Brian was quick to Tammy's side as her and Kimmie set the food down on a table. "You didn't have to do this." he told her as she started cutting into the lasagna. "Well I was hungry. Figured everyone else was." Tammy gave him a smile that he has been enjoying seeing more and more. "Hell yeah, we are." a man she didn't know joined them at the cheap coffee table. The guy had the faces of Val and the guys tattooed on his arm, so he was obviously a close friend. An arm dropped on Tammy's shoulders, and she looked up, giving Jimmy a smile. "That's Jason. Him and his brother use to be roadies for us." he said pointing to a man that looked just like him. "Technicians." Jason corrected him with narrow eyes. "Whatever, you were still our little bitches." Jimmy grinned. "Careful, he might dry hump you." Johnny said as he too came to get a plate. "You liked it." Jason blew him a kiss. "I don't even want to know." Tammy mumbled as she dished out pasta.

Brian introduced Tammy around as she handed out food. She met Matt and Val's parents along with Jason's twin brother. The atmosphere was fairly light. It wasn't until a woman walked in about twenty minutes later did the girls notice a slight tension develop in the air. The girls assumed it was Val's sister since she looked just like her. Tammy smirked a little. They have a set of male, and a set of female twins in their social circle. "That must be Michelle." Kimmie whispered, and Tammy's eyes went wide as she watched the woman hug her parents. She looked at Brian next to her, and noticed that he had gotten tense, his eyes glued to the woman. She looked at Johnny, who met her eyes, giving her a slight nod to her silent question. No wonder the guy hasn't been able to get over her. With Val and Matt together, the woman is almost a permanent fixture in their social circle.

Tammy watched the woman make rounds as she greeted everyone. People seemed to be friendly to her, but she already hated her, and she hasn't even talked to the chick yet. Maybe she was being a little bias cause of what the bitch did to Brian, but quite frankly she didn't want to give her a chance. Michelle turned around after she said hello to the Berry's, and stopped in her tracks when their eyes met. She should have known he was going to be here. "Brian." she softly acknowledged him. "Michelle." he stood to greet her, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans. "How are you?" she asked. Lonely, shattered after you ripped his heart out, and stomped on it. Tammy thought to herself as she glared at the woman. "Good, and you? How are things with um..." he couldn't even remember the douchebag's name. "It didn't work out." she said, looking a little shameful at the floor. Haha karmas a bitch. Tammy smirked a little. "I'm sorry to hear that." Brian tried to hide his own smile. "Well this is awkward." Kimmie whispered. "They use to date. She cheated on him." Tammy whispered back still glaring at the woman. Kimmie's eyes widened a little. At least now she knew why Matt had her under Cheating Whore.

Michelle's eye flicked over Brian's shoulder at the two unfamiliar faces in the room. "Who are they?" she asked, and Brian glance back at the girls before waving them over. Yeah, cause I totally want to meet that bitch. Tammy thought as she reluctantly went over to them. "Michelle, this is Tammy, and Kimmie. This is Val's sister if you couldn't tell." he smirked a little, easing up some of the tension in the room. "Yeah, okay, but who are they?" Michelle narrowed her eyes at the girls. Why the hell was he hanging out with a couple teenage girls. "Their students of ours, and Tammy is my foster child." Brian explained a little further. "I'm sorry, excuse me, your what?" she let out with disbelief. "His foster child." Tammy repeated with a little sass. Clean the cum out of your ears.

Michelle shook her head dismissively, not even acknowledging the girl. "So she's your student, and she's living with you?" she asked, making sure she was hearing this correctly. Brian nodded. "And no one saw a problem with this?" she asked rhetorically. "I don't see what the big deal is? She needed help." he said as if it was the obvious thing for him to do. "Come on, Brian. She's a teenage girl." Michelle motioned to her. "Just what the hell are you Implying, Michelle?" he was starting to get irritated. "Something that would never happen," Tammy answered for her, crossing her arms, and looking the bitch dead in her eyes, "some of us know how to keep our legs closed." Eyes through out the room grew wide. "Oh snap." Jason said as his brother, and Jimmy tried to muffle their laughter. "Shut up, JB." Michelle snapped before grabbing Brian by the arm, and dragging him away. "Just what the hell have you been telling this girl?" she questioned low once they were in a semi-private corner of the waiting room. "I haven't told her anything," Brian told her truthfully before his eyes scanned the room, "but I have an idea who did." he said, not tearing his eyes way from Johnny, who was so conveniently avoiding his gaze.

Brian walked over to Johnny, and grabbed him up by the arm before dragging him outside the waiting room. "Did you tell Tammy about Michelle?" he asked kind of angry. "I did." he confessed. "What the hell Johnny? Why would you tell her about that?" he grabbed his hair with both hands in frustration. "She was asking about the band, and why you don't like talking about it. I don't know man, I'm sorry." he said to a now pacing Brian. The waiting room door opened, and he stopped in his tracks. "What the hell was that in there?" he focused his anger on someone new. "I'm sorry, don't be mad at Johnny. I kind of made him tell me." Tammy told him. "You can't be saying shit like that to her." he said knowing he was going to get some kind of smartass remark when she crossed her arms. "Well maybe she should keep her legs closed." she mumbled with a smirk. "Damn it, Tammy!" Brian was about to go off, but the door flying open shut him up.

"Somethings going on." Kimmie said with worry on her face. The three rushed back into the waiting room immediately hearing Matt's voice bellow down the delivery room hall. "You can't do this! Val! Valary!" they could hear him yell. A few moments later the door to the delivery rooms flew open, and three nurses were trying extremely hard to push Matt out. "Damn it, I need to be in there!" he resisted them. "You need to let us do our jobs." one of the nurses said as they successfully pushed him into the waiting room, "I'm sorry, you'll just be in the way." she said, quickly closing the door, so he couldn't get back in. "Matt, sweetie what's going on?" Val's mother asked with worry in her eyes. "I-I don't know," he ran a frustrated hand through his hair, "She was holding the baby, and passed out. I heard something about too much blood, and hemorrhaging, and then they started rushing me out of the room." he said, hitting the door to the hall with the side of his fist. "Please be okay." he whispered as he rested his head against the door.

It took almost three hours before a doctor came walking through that door. He didn't have to say anything. Everyone could see it on his face. There were already tears forming all around. "Um...Mr. Sanders," he addressed Matt, and he immediately stood from the floor where he was sitting, "Well there's really no easy way to say this," he started as people started to break down, "Valary had a weakening in the back wall of her uterus. It tore during the delivery, and unfortunately we weren't able to get to the bleeding in time." he told him. "What are you saying?" Matt's voice cracked, not wanting to believe it. "I'm sorry, sir. She's gone." The air left Matt's lungs as his back hit the wall in shock, "No," he let out an almost inaudible whisper as he slid down the wall, "No, oh God, no," he started to wail, sobbing uncontrollably as his world came crashing down, "Please, God no." he buried his face in his arms as he sobbed.

Tammy backed slowly away from everyone to where Kimmie was stand off by herself. The girls glanced at each other with tear filled eyes as their hands slipped together. Never have they seen their teachers like this. Even Jimmy was crying. Their hearts broke for them. Grown men sobbing over the loss of their friend. Tammy even felt bad for Michelle. She did just lose her twin sister, her other half. The girls shared one more glance. They were sad themselves. They liked Val, and they barely got the chance to know her. Now they never will. Why does something always have to derail it when things were finally going well?

Notes

Yay, fast chapter.
Boo for content.

Honestly I wasn't completely comfortable killing off Val. I made someone up in my last story for Matt's girlfriend specifically cause I was killing her off.

So....
Michelle and Tammy met. Didn't seem to go to well. I'll be honest again, I'm not completely comfortable with my plans for Michelle either, but I needed twins for this story to work.

Hope you liked the chapter, and aren't too much of an emotional mess to leave me a nice comment :)

@Kimmie
This totally made up for the wait :)

First Brian. He's just not use to having to hide something like this like Tammy has. She's had her crush for awhile and is use to hiding secrets and actions. Some of what he does is completely innocent, just trying to make her feel better, but the other he just doesn't know how to deal with or control it. But like I said in a previous comment...someone is about to gum up the works.

As for Tammy turning on the bitch switch with Kimmie, she knows she fucked up. First day back was an uncomfortable shock to her and she took it out on the wrong person. But I think the little pep talk she got from her favorite teacher will help.

And finally Matt. What can I say about this poor broken man? It's going to take some time for him to get over this. The love of his life is gone now and he just doesn't know how to deal. It's not something someone just gets over. Eventually he's going to see though that there's someone else out there that can love him just as much if not more :)

always love you long comments Hot Stuff <3

OK first, I'm sorry I'm "sooooo late" with my comment ;-) :P
Here goes! Get ready!

Brian, my friend, you are getting onto thin ice. Getting in between a funny back and forth between friends? Asking for a HotStuff (don't be jealous of the girl friends man, not cool), checking to hear if you are still hot? Putting your hand on her thigh? HOLDING HER FUCKING HAND?!!?! Brian, you are soooo deep in right now. And you fucking know it. If you really aren't ready to admit yet, you shouldn't even get in everything I mentioned before and try to pretend to be a grown up man who doesn't have a quickly developing crush on his fosterchild. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for him to fall of the wagon, but for the storysake and the "it's all wrong"-sake... you should at least pretend :P

Okay, I can skip the school stuff right? I mean, she doesn't want to move away from Brian anyway and everything else was just.. well.. maybe she'll make it anyway, but who cares... I have more important stuff to get to.

For the first time this story I kinda didn't like Tammy. She was selfish instead of supporting her friend. I don't really like Aaron, but for now he is nice to Kimmie and so are his friends. I get all the issues Tammy always had, but she had no right to go off on Kimmie like that. That's just mean. I know I know, she had her reasons. I know she's been through a lot, but I still didn't like it. Kimmie didn't deserve it.

Oh, one thing more about the school day... I do love all the sarcastic remarks. But you know... that's your writing. You make it seem so effortless and I know it's not, but just take the compliment, okay? You make it seem so so damn lifely, and I really feel like being there. Like standing there watching the scene. It's amazing.

Allright, let's get to my man Matt. My heart breaks everytime you write about him. I know it's too soon to get better, but I really want it to. I hate seeing him hurt like this. Trying his best over all his grief. I really can't stand seeing him like this. But I love how Kimmie knows this baby stuff. How she so easily gets the baby to be quiet and calm. And what I like most about it is that she isn't solving it for Matt, but teaching him how. But damn, just fix the man soon, I can't take it.
And here's a small peek of the fangirl.. I can't wait for Kimmie to spend more time with Matt and Aiden, taking care of the small guy.

I hope this comment makes up for me being not here on the first day. I'll just end with what I always do.. Please, Please, Please write! I'm begging you, this story makes my day, my week, my life. I want to read more now things are looking up!

Love you lekker ding! <3
