His Biggest Fears

Zacky let out a breath, and ran a hand through his hair. "Wow, that's umm... So do you want to file a report." he asked. Brian shook his head. "No I wanted to talk to you first, and see what my options are," he told him, "is there somewhere else we can go, maybe grab a cup of coffee or something." He asked. Zacky nodded. "Yeah sure man. Let me grab my keys." He said giving him a pat on the shoulder. "Hey can we ride in the squad car?" Jimmy piped up with a huge grin. "Only if you sit in the back where you can't mess with anything." Zacky chuckled as he walked away.

Brian let a smile come out for the first time today when Jimmy nudged him a little excited about riding in the squad car. Zacky returned a few moments later, and the three were soon piled in headed off to the closest coffee shop. "Hey can you turn the siren on?" Jimmy asked as they started down the road. The two men upfront chuckled a little, and Zacky shook his head. "We don't need it right now." He said, and Jimmy booed a little. "Come on there's red lights all the way down, click that siren on." He begged the little. "No," Zacky chuckled, "I can get in a lot of trouble for that." He told him. "You're no fun." Jimmy said crossing his arms and flopping back into the seat. "Been a crappy day. Can't have no fun. Just wanted to hear the sirens." He continue to grumble a little.

Brian and Zacky shared a glance, and Brian gave him a little nod. Zacky let out a small grin when he flipped the siren on and seen Jimmy light up in the back through the rearview mirror. "Yeah!!" Jimmy let out hitting the roof of the car a few times with the palm of his hand, "move out of the way motherfuckers!" He yelled as he watched the cars move aside for the speeding squad car, and earning chuckles from the two men upfront. Zacky shut the siren off after he went through to red lights, and saw Jimmy pouting in the back. "Hey no pouting," he said looking at him through the mirror "you got to hear the siren, and I said I can get in a lot of trouble for that."

Zacky pulled into a small café, and parked. The two men up front climbed out, and Brian walked around the front to Zack's side. They wore matching smirks as the glanced through the back seat window at a patiently waiting Jimmy. "Are you gonna get out?" Brian teasing yelled through the window. "Haha. Open the door fuckers." he told them pointedly. "Just pull the handle. Its not that hard." Zack joined in. "And I'm neither drunk nor stupid, so open the fucking door." he said knowing those doors don't open from the inside.

Brian and Zacky shared another glance before looking back at Jimmy, their smirks a little wider, "Nah." they both said, shaking there heads. "Alright," Jimmy said, his own smirk coming out, "I can play games too." he said as he laid back in the seat. Zack's eyes went wide when he saw his feet come up to the window. He quickly opened the door knowing Jimmy would kick it out if he didn't. He really didn't want to explain that one to his Chief. Jimmy dropped both of his feet onto the pavement, and sat up with a cocky smile. "Thought you'd see it my way." he said as he got out. "I was just keeping your ass out of jail." Zacky shot back as the three walked towards the café. "Please, I'd get a fine, and a slap on the wrist at most," Jimmy said smirking at him, "You know, since it was your fault I couldn't get out."

Brian chuckled at his friends as he held the door to the café open for them. Being able to do this with friends was definitely going to make this easier. He was already a little more comfortable, but he didn't think there was anything that would take the nerves completely away. The whole situation terrified him in away. There were so many different things that could happen. He was afraid of tearing the girls apart, afraid of finding out what was really going on, but there was one that bothered him the most. He was afraid that she would hate him, and he would never see her again.

Brian wasn't entirely sure why the thought of that sent his heart into the deepest pits of his stomach. She was just a student, and he probably wouldn't see her after she graduated anyway. Why the hell did this bother him so much now? The three men sat in a small booth, away from others, and ordered some coffee. Silence fell amongst them, and Brian let out a heavy sigh, "Where do you want to start?" he asked almost at a whisper. "I guess lets start with a name." Zack said as he pulled out a small pad of paper and a pen from his front uniform pocket. "What are you doing," Brian questioned a little confused, "I don't want to file a report yet." he told him. "I know, but if you end up having to, then we won't have to do this again."

Zacky could already tell this was making Brian uncomfortable. If he wrote everything down now, he wouldn't have to go through it all over again. Brian gave him a small nod, and took a deep breath, "Um, okay her name is Tammy Ross. She's 17." he started to tell him. "And you both have her?" Zack asked looking between the two. "Yeah, I have her and her friend Kimmie first period," Jimmy told him, "You'll probably hear her name a few times. They're joined at the hip." Zacky nodded as wrote down her name. "Pretty close huh?" he asked not looking up from his paper. "Yeah, it's not unusual to see them holding hands." Jimmy said.

"She probably knows what's going on then," Zacky said as he finally looked up, "The hand holding is probably a comfort thing. Kimmie's probably the one person she feels she can trust. The one constant that keeps her on stable ground." Jimmy smirked a little, and nudged Brian, "Makes more sense than the lesbian theory." he said trying to keep the mood as light as possible. Brian cracked a smile, and let a small chuckle escape. "Lesbian theory?" Zacky asked with a curious smile of his own. "There's a rumor going around that they're lovers, and those two have fun with it." Jimmy told him with a chuckle, and a slight shake of his head.

Brian's smile got a little wider. "Yeah they do." he agreed. "Like how?" Zack asked. Maybe if he could get a better understanding of the girls, he could grasp his friends suspicion. "Oh fuck dude, they blow each other kisses, call each other babe." Brian started to tell him. "I saw Tammy smack Kimmie on the ass once." Jimmy added with a little snicker. "That's hilarious. They sound like they could be fun." Zacky laughed receiving a couple of nods. "Definitely don't give a shit about what anyone thinks about them." Brian said with a little admiration. High school could be tough, and it took a lot to just be yourself. Teenagers can be assholes.

"So do they get hassled a lot at school?" Zacky continued with his questioning. "Kind of. There's two girls in particular, Grace and Scarlette, that like to give them a hard time, but they don't take their shit. Even got into a fight with them and their friend Leah yesterday." Brian explained to him. "Leah's not their friend, she's their comic relief." Jimmy piped up. He's hears them cut her down on a daily basis. He really didn't understand why the girl put up with it. It was obvious the girl had no self-esteem, but with "friends" like those two, how could she?

"That may be so, but she was the smart one, and stayed on the ground." Brian said earning a couple of chuckles. "I take it the three got their asses kicked?" Zack asked. "Fuck yeah they did." Jimmy grinned. "Well we ended up having to break it up," Brian tried to continue only to be interrupted by tisking from Zack. "Why you gotta break up a good girl fight?" he asked, getting another round of chuckles. "Because we have too." Brian sighed a little. He liked a good girl fight just as much as the rest of them.

Zacky shook his head in disappointment. He understood, he had to do the same. "So what happened after the fight? I'm assuming everyone got in trouble, and parents were called." he asked, getting ready to write again. "Yeah, that's when I started to notice a change in their behavior. It was the first time I seen them scared." Brian told him, feeling the uneasiness start to set in again. "Well they just got in trouble. I haven't seen a kid yet that isn't scared of their parents when their in trouble." Zacky said. He's busted plenty of teenagers for petty shit.

Brian shook his head. He's busted plenty of teenagers too. "It wasn't like that," he started to tell him, "It wasn't Kim's mom they were afraid of, it was Tammy's stepdad." Zacky cocked a brow, "What about her mom?" he asked. "Her mom wasn't mentioned. Neither was Kim's dad." Brian said. Zack nodded, and went back to writing, "Single parent homes, wait you said he was her stepfather?" he asked looking up. Brian nodded, "In fact the principal called him her father, and she was quick to correct him." he said. "And sharp." Jimmy added.

"So if he's the only one she's living with then he probably adopted her. They have the same last name right," Zacky question, receiving nods, "Wouldn't happen to have a first name for Mr. Ross would you?" he asked wanting to get everything he could down. Brian shook his head, "And its Dr. Ross." he mocked the man again. "Seriously?" Zacky asked with a cocked brow and half smile. "Yeah, I got the pleasure of meeting the prick." Brian said, not hiding his distaste for the man.

Zacky let out a small chuckle, "I take it you don't like him?" he asked knowing. Brian shook his head, "The guy oozed asshole." he said. "Maybe his asshole was really oozing." Jimmy said, getting Brian to crack another smile. "I don't know about that, but he definitely didn't give off a good vibe." Brian ran a hand through his hair, and let out a heavy sigh.

"They were so afraid of him. Both of them. Tammy was hugging Kim's arm like her life depended on it, and Kim....she looked like she was trying hard not to cry. When he spoke to them, it was like he was trying to intimidate them. It almost looked like he was enjoying it. Enjoying their fear...." Brian trailed off in a whisper.

The air started to feel thick around them the closer the got to other details. "The guy practically drug her out of the school." he added. Zacky snapped his head up from his note pad, eyes narrow and serious. "Did you see him physically put his hands on her?" he asked. Brian nodded slightly, his gaze blank as he stared at the table, "He didn't hit her or anything, but yeah, he grabbed her arm, pulled her out of the chair, and out of the school."

Zacky let out a sigh, and started writing again. The more he heard the more it was looking like they might have to report this. "That's not all." the uneasiness in Brian's voice brought his eyes back up. Brian opened his mouth to continue, but Jimmy was faster. "We saw some physical changes in her today," he took over, seeing Brian relax a little out of the corner of his eye. He knew how uncomfortable this made him, he wasn't going to make his do it all.

"Brian told me about his suspicions, and I decided to pay closer attention today since I had them first thing. Their behavior was out of the ordinary. You get those two together, and they can be a riot, but not today. They were quiet, distant. I got Tammy to look at me for a split second, and I saw broken capillaries in her right eye-"

"It was swollen too." Brian's whisper cut in. Both men glanced at their friend as he stared blankly at his coffee, mindlessly turning the cup in it's saucer before Jimmy continued. "She kept moving around like something hurt, and she couldn't get comfortable, and there was a limp she was trying to hide when she walked." Zacky put his pen down, and rubbed his eyes. There was no way out of it now, they were going to have to report this, or face consequences themselves. "I saw a scar on her wrist," Brian spoke softly as he continued to stare at his untouched coffee, "When she was handing me a permission slip. Her bracelets slid closer to her hand, and I saw it. I imagine there's a matching one on her other wrist." he whispered pulling his gaze away from his cup.

Brian's eyes met Zack's, and he could see just how worried and concerned his friend was for this girl, "What could be so bad that she would want to kill herself?" he asked, not expecting a response as he went back to staring at his coffee. Zacky let out a sigh, and shook his head even though Brian couldn't see. "I don't know man, but I think you're going to find out," he said grabbing both men's attention, "I hate to say it, but you have to report this, or face jail time." he told them.

Brian dropped his head in his hands. "What's going to happen to her?" he asked rubbing his forehead a little. He could feel a headache coming on. "Well, um she'll be in the hands of Social Services. Probably sent the juvenile center in LA until she's either placed in foster care, or turns eighteen." Zack said, and Brian ran frustrated hands down his face. Part of him really didn't want to do this. He was sure she would hate him, and he really couldn't blame her. He was about to invade her world, and rip her away from her best friend, but what choice did he have? He couldn't just leave her in a potentially dangerous environment.

"You have to let me talk to her first," Brian said, breaking the silence that had fallen amongst the three, "I don't want to blindside her with this," he said meeting Zack's eyes again, "You have to let me talk to her." he repeated. "I can do that, but regardless of what she says, you still have to do this." Zack told him receiving a quick nod. Brian knew he had to. At least maybe he could lessen the blow, prepare her for it. Maybe she wouldn't hate him so much....

Notes

So this one is a little short, but it was a little faster :) That counts for something right....Right? :D
But seriously, Thanks everyone for sticking with me and my slow updates <3

Soooo next chapter is probably going to be a little intense....or a lot...
Something tells me Tammy's not going to like Brian butting in....but I could be wrong....but probably not ;)

@Kimmie
This totally made up for the wait :)

First Brian. He's just not use to having to hide something like this like Tammy has. She's had her crush for awhile and is use to hiding secrets and actions. Some of what he does is completely innocent, just trying to make her feel better, but the other he just doesn't know how to deal with or control it. But like I said in a previous comment...someone is about to gum up the works.

As for Tammy turning on the bitch switch with Kimmie, she knows she fucked up. First day back was an uncomfortable shock to her and she took it out on the wrong person. But I think the little pep talk she got from her favorite teacher will help.

And finally Matt. What can I say about this poor broken man? It's going to take some time for him to get over this. The love of his life is gone now and he just doesn't know how to deal. It's not something someone just gets over. Eventually he's going to see though that there's someone else out there that can love him just as much if not more :)

always love you long comments Hot Stuff <3

OK first, I'm sorry I'm "sooooo late" with my comment ;-) :P
Here goes! Get ready!

Brian, my friend, you are getting onto thin ice. Getting in between a funny back and forth between friends? Asking for a HotStuff (don't be jealous of the girl friends man, not cool), checking to hear if you are still hot? Putting your hand on her thigh? HOLDING HER FUCKING HAND?!!?! Brian, you are soooo deep in right now. And you fucking know it. If you really aren't ready to admit yet, you shouldn't even get in everything I mentioned before and try to pretend to be a grown up man who doesn't have a quickly developing crush on his fosterchild. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for him to fall of the wagon, but for the storysake and the "it's all wrong"-sake... you should at least pretend :P

Okay, I can skip the school stuff right? I mean, she doesn't want to move away from Brian anyway and everything else was just.. well.. maybe she'll make it anyway, but who cares... I have more important stuff to get to.

For the first time this story I kinda didn't like Tammy. She was selfish instead of supporting her friend. I don't really like Aaron, but for now he is nice to Kimmie and so are his friends. I get all the issues Tammy always had, but she had no right to go off on Kimmie like that. That's just mean. I know I know, she had her reasons. I know she's been through a lot, but I still didn't like it. Kimmie didn't deserve it.

Oh, one thing more about the school day... I do love all the sarcastic remarks. But you know... that's your writing. You make it seem so effortless and I know it's not, but just take the compliment, okay? You make it seem so so damn lifely, and I really feel like being there. Like standing there watching the scene. It's amazing.

Allright, let's get to my man Matt. My heart breaks everytime you write about him. I know it's too soon to get better, but I really want it to. I hate seeing him hurt like this. Trying his best over all his grief. I really can't stand seeing him like this. But I love how Kimmie knows this baby stuff. How she so easily gets the baby to be quiet and calm. And what I like most about it is that she isn't solving it for Matt, but teaching him how. But damn, just fix the man soon, I can't take it.
And here's a small peek of the fangirl.. I can't wait for Kimmie to spend more time with Matt and Aiden, taking care of the small guy.

I hope this comment makes up for me being not here on the first day. I'll just end with what I always do.. Please, Please, Please write! I'm begging you, this story makes my day, my week, my life. I want to read more now things are looking up!

Love you lekker ding! <3
