Fake Reflection

Kimmie pulled into her driveway, and shut the car off. Her and Shane hung out at the coffee shop for about another hour just catching up. It was nice, but she was ready to get home, and curl up in her nice warm bed. She didn’t have to work the next two days, it was the weekend, and she was a little disappointed. Kimmie opened her car door, and immediately heard Jasper barking. Jasper’s not a barker unless he’s uncomfortable about something. Kimmie reached over, and pulled her gun out of the glove box. She slowly walked through the gate, and turned to the porch. “You don’t have to shoot me.” Kevin said sitting in a chair on the porch. “I might just for fun.” she said not lowering her gun as she walked closer to him. “Your dog hasn’t shut up since I got here.” he said not showing any signs fear. He knew she wouldn’t shoot him. “He’s got a great sense of smell. Can sniff out an asshole a mile away.” she said finally lowering her gun.

Kimmie walked to her door, and let Jasper out. He immediately bared down, growling at Kevin. Now he was a little scared. “Look I just wanted to talk. Call off your mutt.” he said. “I got one better,” she said with a smirk, “Get’em.” she said to Jasper, the dog taking off after him. Kevin jumped up, and ran out the gate, slamming it closed. Kimmie stood there laughing as Jasper barked at him, standing on his hind legs with his paws on top of the gate. Kevin shot her an unamused look that only made her laugh harder. “I would think you would take a hint by now,” she said once her laughter calmed, “If it isn’t about work, I don’t want to hear a damn thing you have to say.” she told him before calling the dog, and disappearing inside. Kevin stood there for a moment, contemplating about going back in. He let out a sigh, and turned away to walk back to his car parked on the street. Last thing he wanted to do was spend the night in the emergency room getting dog bites stitched up.

Kimmie woke the next morning, her mind still filled with questions. Questions about her job, about Shadows. He’s been popping into her head more often than she would like. It was a little frustrating. He was suppose to be the bad guy, but he hasn’t been, and her growing attraction to him was a little unsettling. Still though she found her mind wandering to him. Wondering what he was doing today. Craving to see that smile, those eyes, and that body….God that body. Kimmie felt herself shiver a little as images of her running her hands up his abs, and chest played through her mind. Images of his hands wrapped around her waist as he held her close, and assulted her lips with his. Oh how she wanted to feel those lips.

With a frustrated huff, she threw the blanket off, and sat up on the edge of the bed. Jasper stood from his dog bed, and walked over sitting next to her on the floor. She looked down at him, and scratched his head. “How about a day at ht beach?” she asked him. He stood up, wagging his tail in approval. She let a smile grace her lips as she stood up, and stretched. Maybe a day away from it all will clear her head. Kimmie let Jasper out to do his business while she threw on a blue bikini, and some jean shorts, and a black tank top. She packed up a bag with everything she would need along with Jasper’s favorite ball and Frisbee. She decided to go check out some other beaches around town, and stop to get a coffee, and doughnut on the way.

Jasper lay in the backseat as Kimmie set off for her first stop. Coffee and a doughnut. She chuckled a little to herself as she sat in the drive threw, at just how true the whole cop doughnut cliché was. There are always doughnuts at the department. Kimmie drove down the road along the coast, finding a nice spot that wasn’t too crowded. She parked her car, and grabbed her bag out of the passenger seat before climbing out. She opened the back door, and hooked Jasper’s leash on him before he hopped out. They started to walk towards the beach when suddenly the leash was yanked out of her hand.

Kimmie looked towards Jasper in time to see him take off after something. She called after him, but he didn’t stop. Normally he would listen, but when he had his sights set on something he was gone. She started to chase him, calling his name, but he was too fast, and she quickly lost sight of him. Kimmie cursed to herself as she started to look for him. For 10 minutes she searched, calling his name with no luck. Until a deep voice that sends shivers down her spine, and haunts her dreams came from behind her. “Loose someone?”

Kimmie turned to a smiling and shirtless Shadows. Her heart raced a little as she took in the sight of him. Standing there like a sculpted god in all his built, tattooed glory. His deep chuckle brought her out of her daze, and she flushed red at being caught checking him out. She looked away quickly, and noticed him holding a leash. Jasper sat obediently next to him, panting with his tongue out as his tail wagged in the sand. “Where did you find him?” she asked taking the leash from him. “I saw him chase a squirrel up a tree, and heard you calling for him.” he said with a slight chuckle. Kimmie smiled, “Always chasing something.” she mumbled shaking her head. “Well thanks for bringing him back to me.” she said meeting his eyes. Damn that smile. “You’re welcome.”

They stood in a slightly awkward silence for a moment as her eyes got lost in his. “Well I should go.” she said softly, breaking the silence, and turning to leave. Matt watched her as she started to walk away suddenly not wanting her to go. He didn’t know why this particular girl was making his mind scatter so much. He barely knew anything about her. They haven’t talked much, but yet she kept distracting his thoughts. “Do you want to join us?” he asked suddenly, making Kimmie stop in her tracks. She turned to look at him, and he started feeling nervous, hoping she wouldn’t reject his offer. “Its just the guys, Syndy, Lilly, and me, but you’re welcome to join us.” he told her. He had to know more about her. He could probably just look at everything Jimmy found, but where’s the fun in that. He enjoyed talking to get to know someone, and right now he really wanted to get to know her.

Kimmie chewed on her bottom lip. This wasn’t exactly the best way to clear her head, and get him out of her mind. The nervous look on his face though had her caving before she could tell herself no. “Sure.” she smiled walking back over to him. He returned her smile as relief flowed through him. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing. It’s been so long since he took the time to get to know a woman. She was the first one to cloud his mind without the strong feeling of guilt crushing him, and he had to explore it.

They walked for about five minutes before the rest of the gang came into view. Jimmy, and Lilly were engaged in a water gun fight with the Berrys. It looked like the Berrys were loosing. Brain and Tammy sat on a blanket watching. She was between his legs, leaned back against his chest with his arms wrapped around her. They looked so cute, and the quick image of Shadows arms wrapped around her flashed in Kimmie’s head. She shook her head of the thoughts, and snapped her head up to the sound of a high pitched squeal. “Doggy!” Lilly cried out when she spotted Jasper. The little girl dropped her water gun, and ran over to Kimmie and Matt. She wrapped her little arms around his neck as he excitedly licked her face. Kimmie pulled back on his leash a little before the dog knocked the little girl over. Lilly looked up giggling as she wiped her face off. The girl was the spitting image of her mother, except for Brian’s nose.

Kimmie crouched down, and unhooked his leash. “What’s his name?” Lilly asked patting him on the head. “Jasper.” Kimmie told her as she reached into her bag. “And this is his favorite ball if you want to play with him.” she said handing the red rubber ball to the little girl. Lilly’s eyes lit up as she took the ball, a dimpled smile on her face. She threw the ball towards the water, and chased after Jasper as he chased the ball, little giggles escaping her. Kimmie stood up, and looked to Matt with a smile. “She’s adorable.” she said. Matt let out a chuckle. “Yea she is.” he agreed placing a hand on the small of her back. “Come on.” he said leading her over to Brian and Tammy who were watching them.

Kimmie felt her nerves start to get to her. After their encounter in the hall, she wasn’t entirely too sure on how Syndy felt about her, but when she received a friendly smile from her she calmed a little. “Found someone.” Matt said as they joined the two. He paused and smirked, “Actually I found her dog, then her.” he said looking to Kimmie, his eyes dancing with amusement. “You joining us today?” Tammy asked looking up at her. Kimmie nodded. Tammy gave her a look that she couldn’t decipher. “Well this should be interesting.” she mumbled turning her gaze back to Lilly playing with the dog. Kimmie furrowed her brow in slight confusion. What the hell was that suppose to mean?

Okay so I teased with the Shadows/Kimmie time a little more. Next chapter will be the rest of the day, and more Kimmie/Shadows time. Sadly though I won't be able to update again till after Memorial Day :( Sorry.
