No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 54

Third Person POV: Later That Night:
“Ready to finish this?” Matt asked the woman he would be using as bait. “Lets fucking do it.” she said with a smile. Soon it will be over. She took the two phoney duffel bags from Jimmy. They were making it look like she was just going on a routine drug swap, only she was going to take the scenic route, so the rest would have time to get to the “swap” first. She walked out the door, bags in hand, and placed them in the false bottom of the trunk. They were pretending to be cocky. Like they had Dave scared, and weren’t worried about sending her out alone. What’s he going to do? He’s scared. That’s the mind set they wanted him to think they had. When in reality Matt knew that Dave, was going to change up his game plan. Go after who he really wants. What he didn’t know was just how bad Dave’s mind finally snapped.

Dave and Mike sat on a dirt road about a mile and a half from the Avenged mansion. Mike was on his fourth laptop since he first started trying to get through Jimmy’s security system. Mike was also oblivious to how far gone the man in the driver’s seat was. Dave watched through binoculars as the woman he had such a burning hatred for proceeded down the drive, and through the gate. “I can’t fucking do it.” Mike said closing his laptop. Dave tossed his binoculars in the back seat. “What’s the problem?” he asked slipping his hand inside his jacket. “His security is just too advanced. It crashes me with every attempt.” he confessed placing the useless computer on the floor. Dave narrowed his eyes as he watched her car pass the dirt road. “Then you are of no use to me.” he said pulling out his gun, and putting a bullet through Mike’s temple. The window shattered out in tiny blood covered shards as the bullet went through it. Dave tucked his gun away, and looked to the body of his right hand with no emotion. He reached over, and opened the passenger door. He pushed the body out of the car with his foot, and closed the door. Gripping the steering wheel knuckle white, he pulled off the dirt road to catch up to her.

The rest of Avenged Sevenfold walked silently up the stairs to the escape garage. The seven of them piled into one SUV, and Brian backed out of the garage. Turning around, he followed the dirt path to the main road. Jimmy sat in the back with his head against the window, gazing at the passing trees as they passed the mansion. The light of the headlights reflected off something that caught Jimmy’s eye. “Stop.” he said leaning forward. “We don’t have time.” Shadz told him as Brian continued to drive. “Just fucking stop and back up!” Jimmy demanded getting agitated. It took the rest by surprise, and Brian quickly stopped, and backed up. “Turn down that dirt road.” Jimmy told him. Brian turned, and came to a stop at something on the side of the road. Jimmy jumped out, and walked to the front of the SUV, the rest close behind. “Holy shit,” Jimmy whispered as he looked down at Mike’s lifeless body, “He killed his own man.” he said looking up. “He’s a sociopath,” Johnny said, “He only cares about himself.” he finished. “Come on.” Shadz said climbing back into the passenger seat. The rest followed, and they were quickly back on the road. They had to get there before she did.

Dave watched from a red light as her car turned down an alley. He grew impatient with the traffic signal, and slammed the gas down, nearly being T-boned by a pickup as he spend through the red light. He turned into a gas station across the street, and parked next to a pump. Climbing out, he pulled out a nozzle to put gas in the tank. Only when the pump was turned on, and the handle was locked in place he casually let it fall out of the tank opening. He strolled away, eyes locked on the woman who was now walking down the alley, a steady flow of gas following behind him. That car had evidence in it. Dave smirked as he stepped up on to the grass that separated the station from the road. He pulled out a book of matches, and lit the flowing stream. I’ll just take her’s, he thought, smirking as he made it across the street just before the gas station exploded.

“What the fuck was that?” Brian asked at the sound of the explosion. “I don’t know, but we need to focus. Hopefully it’ll keep the cops distracted if something goes wrong.” Shadz said as the two hid behind a dumpster. They had made it in time. Brian sped a little, and traffic was light. They watched as she came around the corner, bags in hand. At a steady stroll, she walked past three that were hidden, smiles forming when they seen Dave follow not soon after.

Dave quickened his pace to catch up to her, reaching in his jacket to pull out his gun. The sound of footsteps brought her movements to a halt. She dropped the bags, and was roughly grabbed by the arm before she could turn around. Dave forcefully turned her, and his eyes went wide. “Hey there big boy.” Zacky said in a girly voice, making kissy faces at Dave. In a confused rage, he threw Zack back, and he landed hard on his ass. “Now is that anyway to treat a lady.” he heard her voice behind him. He turned, and faced Shadz, Gates, and her, as they walked to him guns drawn. “It’s over.” he heard a whisper in his ear. Whipping back around, the color in his face drained. “You’re dead.” he growled gripping his gun tightly. Jimmy smirked, and raised his shirt to reveal the still healing scar.

Dave stood alone surrounded by Avenged Sevenfold. Sirens filled the air as rescue vehicles whizzed past the dark alley without a second glance. “Give it up Dave. It’s time to pay for your crimes.” Shadz told him. Dave let out a laugh, and turned to the new leader of the country. “My crimes?” he asked mockingly. “What about your crimes Shadows. Whose going to pay for those?” he asked challenging him. “Your crimes are against the innocent, and you are a danger to society.” Shadz said keeping aim on Dave’s head. “And none of you have crimes against the innocent?” he asked calmly, looking to Gates. Tammy watched as Brian’s face fell as Dave tried to fuck with his mind. Dave let out a huff. “You’re right Shadows,” he said the sinister smile never leaving his face, “Crimes against the innocent can’t go unpunished.” he said raising his gun at Brian.

Two shots rang out through the alley. Matt watched as Dave’s lifeless body fell to the ground from the bullet he put in his head. Brian sat himself up on the ground. He didn’t feel any pain as he frantically searched for a wound. His eyes went wide when he saw Tammy on the ground, a pool of blood forming around her. She must have pushed him out of the way. “Zack go get your car!” Shadz yelled crouching next to her as Brian frantically crawled over. Zack took off down the alley to where he parked the car, doing a double take when he seen the gas station in flames. He shook the shock away, and jumped into the driver seat.

“Get her on her back.” Johnny said as he joined them on the ground. Matt and Brian carefully rolled her over as Zacky turned down the alley. “Shit.” Johnny hissed placing both hands over the wound in her ribs to slow the bleeding. Tammy’s eyes remand closed, but she hadn’t completely drifted out yet. It was hard to breath as she started to cough up blood. “We have to hurry.” Johnny said as Zack came to a screeching halt next to them. Jimmy opened the back door, and Matt and Brian carefully lifted her. Brian backed in, and rested her head in his lap as he cradled her face, tears causing his vision to blur. Matt climbed out once they had her all the way in, and Johnny took his place. “Go,” Matt said slamming the door behind Johnny, “We’ll clean this up, and meet you there.” he said before Zacky sped away.

Johnny reached over the back seat, and grabbed the first aid out of the glove box. He pulled out some gauze, and tried to get the bleeding to slow. He could tell by the way she was breathing that they didn’t have much time. He wrestled his phone out of his pocket as he used his other to keep pressure on the wound. Hitting the contact for the hospital, he brought it up to his ear. “This is Dr. Jonathan Seward, and I need an OR ready ASAP,” he said looking down at Tammy “Victim has a gun shot wound to the right rib cage with lung penetration.” he finished before hanging up. He didn’t need to wait for response from the person on the other line. Everyone knew at that hospital when Johnny called you do what’s said no questions asked.

Tammy cracked open her eyes a little. She just wanted to see his face. She could feel herself loosing to her injury, and she just needed to see him one last time. She met his pain filled eyes as a few of his tears hit her cheek. Weakly raising a hand, she softly touched the side of his face. He quickly engulfed it in his own, holding to his cheek. “B-Brian.” she choked out at a barely audible whisper. “I’m here.” he said not being able to hide the sob in his voice. “I-I…” she coughed, and more blood flowed out of her mouth. “Tammy don’t talk.” Johnny warned as he held the gauze tightly to her wound.

She wanted to tell him she loved him, but there wasn’t enough air in her lungs to get it out. “Shh,” as he cradled her head, “Just stay with me,” he whispered. “We’re almost there.” Brian said as he seen the hospital come into view. Zack turned sharply into the hospital parking lot, and up to the emergency doors. Nurses and EMTs stood waiting with a stretcher. “We’re here, you’re going to be okay.” Brian said looking down. “Tammy?” he said as fear swept him. “She’s not breathing!” Brian yelled when Johnny threw open the door. “Hurry she just crashed!” Johnny said rushing the workers over. They pulled her out, and placed her on the stretcher. Johnny climbed on top of her, and straddled her waist. They quickly wheeled her in as Johnny started CPR. Brian and Zacky followed close behind till they were stopped outside the door of the hall to the operating rooms. “I’m sorry, but you can’t go any further.” the nurse told them stepping through the doorway. Brian watched with worry as the door closed behind her. “I got a pulse!” were the last words he heard from Johnny as the door clicked shut.

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
