No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 34

Tammy’s POV:
The tension between Matt and Brian has been thick these past few days. I think Brian’s pissed now because Matt agreed to help with the job. Most of us have been avoiding them, especially when they are yelling at each other. I’ve never seen any of them so on edge about a gang, but from what I hear from some of the stories they’ve told me, I can see why. Whole families slaughtered because someone owed them money, usually one of the parents. Some of the stories sent shivers down my spine. I don’t even want to think about it. New subject.
Brian’s thrown his anger my way too for agreeing to do the job. Matt always says I have a choice when it comes to jobs like these, but I honestly don’t think I could turn him down. I mean this technically is my job. Matt is technically my boss. What does he want me to do? I wouldn’t feel right saying no. I have just as much access to the money we make as everyone else. I spend it too, it’s my job to help make it. He just needs to quit being a paranoid baby. If they keep it up, things are going to go wrong. What’s the saying “Paranoia will destroy ya”. He keeps worrying about something happening, then somethings going to. This whole thing is just really starting to irritate me, and I might end up snapping on them.
We’re suppose to be going out tonight. We’ve had the whole day off. Matt planned it so everyone could relax away from it all. We’ve been so busy lately, but the tension I have a feeling is going to keep everyone from enjoying themselves. Not even Jimmy has been able to ease it. You know what? Fuck it. I am not going to let this tension keep us from having fun tonight. Matt rented a limo so no one has to drive. I’m going to dress up, and we’re going to have a good fucking time even if it kills me. At least then Brian wouldn’t have to worry about Disturbed doing it.
I’m hoping maybe my Batman dress will put some smiles on these faces. It’s my little black dress. If I’m going to have to wear them, I’m going to wear something more me. I can’t help it. I grew up with an older brother that I idolized. I remember watching the original Batman series with him when we were kids. So much of me comes from him. We had our differences though. He liked He-Man, I liked She-Ra. He liked Raphael, I liked Michelangelo. Of course I am still a girl, and had my girly interests. I couldn’t even tell you how many My Little Pony’s I had.
Alright time to kick these guys asses into gear. I was already ready to go. The limo won’t be here for another 45 minutes, but I needed some time to get them in the mood. I made my way down stairs, and went to find Jimmy. He was in the music room going to town on his drums. “Jimmy!” I called out when I walked in. He stopped playing, and looked at me. “If you’re looking for Boy Wonder, I think he’s in the infirmary.” he said with a smirk. I chuckled as I walked over to him. “Go round up the troops. We’re going out tonight.” I said. “What about-” I cut him off. “I got them just get the rest.” “Yes ma’am.” he said with a salute and a smile.
I found Brian sitting out back by himself smoking. “Get up,” I said lightly smacking him upside the head. “Hey.” he said rubbing his head looking at me. “Get your ass upstairs, and get ready. We’re going out.” I said putting my hands on my hips. “Don’t really feel like it.” he said tossing his butt. “Don’t really give a rats ass.” I said standing firm. He looked at me and narrowed his eyes. “Go get ready now.” I ordered turning heel, and walking away, not giving him a chance to argue.
I walked down the hall, and pounded on Matt’s office door. “What!” I heard him yell from the other side. “Don’t what me,” I said walking in, “go get ready we’re going out remember?” I said walking to his desk. “Not really in the mood.” he said kind of low. “And I’ma tell you the same thing I told Brian. I. Don’t. Give. A. Flying. Fuck.” okay so I worded it differently. “This was your idea, and we’re all going out no fucking arguments.” I said walking away, and out of his office. And that’s how we handle that.
I made my way to the front door, and waited patiently for everyone else. Matt walked past me, and shot me a glare. I crossed my arms, and cocked a brow. Look at me like that all you want. Still going upstairs to get ready aren’t ya bitch. I chuckled to myself as I watched him disappear upstairs. It’s a good thing he can’t read minds. “I didn’t know the Caped Crusader was joining us.” JB said when him and Matt started down the stairs. “Awe. I don’t have a cape.” I whined a little, disappointment all over my face. “Awwwe.” they mocked my whine in unison. “Well this whole night is just shot now. Can’t be the Caped Crusader without a cape.” I jokily bitched. “Don’t say that. Here use this.” Matt said grabbing a black silk shawl off the coat rack. “I forgot I even had this.” I said honestly when he draped it over my shoulders. I got it to wear with some of my dresses when it was chilly. For silk it was surprisingly warm. I just never wear it, haven’t had too yet.
It wasn’t to long after Jimmy, Zack, and Johnny joined us that the front gate buzzed. I checked the monitor by the front door before opening the gate for the limo. It was a little early, and Matt and Brian hadn’t come downstairs yet. I was starting to get impatient. I let out a huff, and stomped to the top of the stairs. “You two need to hurry the fuck up before I drag you down by your ears!” I yelled down the hall. I turned to head back downstairs, and heard two doors slam shut about half way down. I joined the rest of the guys, and we watched Matt and Brian descend the stairs on opposite sides of the stair case. I think I like it better when they play like children than when they fight like children.
We all silently walked out the door, and to the limo. The awkwardness was building in the car as we headed out. Everyone was quiet. Like usual. Its because every time they try to have a conversation one of them says something that pisses the other off, and they start yelling at each other, so now no one talks.
Now normally when we ride in limos to places, Brian is sitting between me and Matt. He’s always next to Matt. Their best friends, and he’s his right hand. It currently is the Berrys and me between the two. The seat ran the length of the limo, along the back, and there was one seat next to the door. Jimmy sat next on the other side of Brian, and Johnny and Zack were sitting on the back seat.
I sat with my arms and legs crossed watching everyone sit in an awkward silence, shifting uncomfortably every once in awhile. After about five minute I grew very tired of it. We are having fun tonight, NOT sitting around in silence. “Matt, Zack get on the other side of Shadz, JB next to Jimmy.” I ordered as I moved to the empty seat next to the door, so I was directly across from them. The guys hesitated at first confused at what I was doing before they moved. “What the fuck are you doing?” Brian asked confusion on his face. “Push.” I said to the four ignoring Brian. They didn’t hesitate this time. Jimmy and JB pushed Brian, and Matt and Zack pushed Shadz till the two were against each other.
“Now,” I started ignoring the death glares I was getting from both, “this has gone on long enough.” I said. “Try telling him that.” I heard Shadz mumble earning a glare from Brian. “I’m telling you both.” I said showing my irritation. “Maybe you should have considered how everyone would feel about doing this job.” I shot at Shadz “Obviously everyone is uncomfortable with Disturbed.” He didn’t reply. “And you need to quit being such a fucking baby about everything.” I said turning my attention to Brian. “There is nothing you can do to stop this job, or how its going to be done, so suck it the fuck up.” I continued not letting them get a word in. “If this persist, then things are going to go wrong in the worst possible ways because no one can concentrate. Everyone will be so on edge about something happening because you two have been fight about it, so knock it the fuck off.” I said ending my rant.
Everyone was quiet, waiting to see what they were going to do. “I’m waiting.” I said crossing my arms and legs. “For what.” they said at the same time. “For you two to kiss and make up.” I said with a smirk. And there’s the smiles. You could almost see the tension lifting, as the finally looked at each other, and apologized for being asses. They even apologized to us for the uncomfortable atmosphere we’ve all had to endure the past few days. “Good now that that’s settled,” I said wedging my ass between Matt and Brian, “Where are we going?” I asked looking at Shadz. “It’s a surprise.” he said. I looked at him, disappointment washing over my face, before I gave him my saddest puppy pout. He looked at me, his dimpled smile popping out. “That’s not going to work.” he stated. “You suck.” I grumbled crossing my arms over my chest.
It wasn’t too long before the limo stopped, and the driver opened the door for us. Brian helped me out, and I looked at the club. The Noose, sounds like something Corey would own. Oh no. I turned with a knowing look to Matt. “What?” he tried to play innocent. “You know exactly what. Is he here?” I asked. He knew who I was referring too. “He should be.” he said. “Why?” The rest of the guys had disappeared inside except for
Brian. “The past few days had gotten me thinking, and as much as none of us want to admit it, there’s a high possibility you might get killed.” he said glancing at Brian over my shoulder. I didn’t respond as he continued. It never really sank in like it did right then. I’ve never really feared death. There were moments in my life when I welcomed it, but right then it really hit me that I didn’t want to die anytime soon. For once I was afraid of death. “Do you really want things to end with the way it is between you and Jim.” I heard Matt ask pulling me out of my thoughts. I shook my head. I really didn’t. There has been a few times I’ve brought up his contact in my phone, but I just couldn’t push talk.
I let out a sigh, and turned to head inside. The place kind of looked like a warehouse. You could hear the music inside flooding the block every time the door opened. Brian wrapped his arm around my waist with a comforting smile as we headed inside. It looked like a rave going on inside. It wasn’t massively crowded, but the place wasn’t short of people. We found the rest of the guys pushing tables together not far from the bar. Taking our seats, I ordered a round of shots from a waitress passing. I was met with some surprised looks from the guys. It’s no secret I don’t drink often, but I knew I was going to need a few before I talked to anyone from Slipknot.

Notes

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
