No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 35

Tammy’s POV:
Now this is more like it. Everyone has gotten a few drinks in them, laughing, and fucking around. Just like it’s suppose to be. A few of the guys have already found ladies to dance with. It’s not surprising you should see the women that just seem to flock to them. Jimmy was trying to talk Johnny into drinking something that had probably every liquor know to man in it. Have to give Johnny props, he’s been holding his ground. Matt and Brian were wrapped up in their own conversation like they hadn’t been fighting for the past three days.
I wasn’t really paying attention to them. I was to busy watching Corey strangle the life out of the drink in his hands. Slipknot was spotted shortly after our first shot. I don’t think they’ve noticed us yet. Something has their attention else were. A few had their gazes trained hard on Corey. He did not look happy.
I followed the hard gaze of Corey to a pretty brunette across the room. She was sitting in some guys lap, laughing at whatever he was whispering in her ear. My gaze darted between the two for a little while, noticing how she would look over at Corey every time the other guy kissed her neck, or when she ran her hand up his chest. She was making sure Corey was watching her. “That’s Lzzy Hale.” I heard Brian next to me. He must have noticed me watching her. “She leads Halestorm with her brother by her side. The only female leader still around.” he explained. “That’s cause she hides behind daddy’s power.” Matt added with an unimpressed tone. “Whose her dad?” I asked already having an idea. “James Hetfield.” Brian said. “That’s Beth?” I asked. “Beth?” they asked cocking brows. “That’s what Kirk always called her. Short for Elizabeth.” I explained. I’ve heard about her from him. She’s like a niece to him. “Yea, well that would be her.” Brian said. “Her and Corey had a thing going on a few years ago, not really sure what ended it.” Matt said. “You know he was a lot nicer then.” Brian added. “He caught her in bed with someone else.” I told them. The both let out surprised ohs.
I turned my attention back to Lzzy. She was practically straddling the guy now. “It’s obvious she realized what she lost.” I said to no one in particular. “What do you mean?” Brian asked kind of confused. “She’s trying to make him jealous. She obviously still has feelings for him. Why else would you try to make someone jealous?” I asked rhetorically. I shifted my gaze back to Corey in time to see the glass in his hands finally shatter. “And it’s working.” I mumbled out.
I really felt bad for him. She doesn’t deserve to have him take her back. Corey was really a great guy, he’s just hurting, and not dealing with it well. It causes him to be hateful and cruel. He let me in, and I saw the real Corey, and I like it better. “Why don’t you go help him out.” I heard Brian suggest. I looked at him with slight disbelief. “What? I can tell you want too, and she’s being a bitch.” he said. I did want to help him. He can do better. I smiled at Brian, and stood to leave. “Rules,” Brian said grabbing my arm stopping me, “Dancing, light touching, and kissing. No tongue.” he said letting go of my arm. “Got it.” I said slightly amused. “No making out!” he called after me as I walked away to the bar. I chuckled, and waved him off over my shoulder.
I ordered a Stone Sour from the bartender, and noticed a pretty brunette sitting alone at the bar. She had tattoos on her arms. I could see a classic microphone on the under side of her arm. Maybe I can play match maker later. I paid for the drink, and made my way to Slipknot.
Joey was wrapping up Corey’s hand. He must have cut himself on the glass. I watched some eyes go wide as I approached Corey from behind. My gaze fell on Jim’s apologetic eyes, and I gave him a small smile before turning my attention back to Corey. “Looks like you could use another.” I said moving around him so we were face to face. Confusion etched his face as he looked at the drink and back to me. “What are you doing?” he asked. “What do you say we give this bitch a taste of her own medicine.” I said with a smirk holding the drink out further to him. He didn‘t catch on right away as he looked at me still confused. I motioned with my head towards Lzzy, and he glanced over out of the corner of his eye. We already had her attention. She was still in the guys lap, but she was watching us. “What about Gates?” he asked. “It was his idea.” I said placing the glass in his hand, and nodding over his shoulder towards Brian. He glanced over his shoulder, and Brian raised his glass slightly in approval.
It made me happy to know he trusted me enough to help out Corey. It’s not like this is going to lead to anything. He knows I’m not going anywhere. This is definitely going to earn him some points later. “So what do ya say?” I asked gliding my arm across his shoulders. “Shall we beat this bitch at her own game?”
He met my eyes, and took a huge gulp of his drink before setting it on the table, and dragging me to the dance floor. We found a nice spot in the crowd were Lzzy would have a nice view of us. We moved against each other to the music my arms around his neck, his around my waist. “Why are you helping me?” he asked in my ear. “I told you we were even.” said to him. He didn’t reply. “I am sorry about playing at your emotions, and I do feel bad about it.” I told him as I rested my forehead on his, so he could see the truth in my eyes. I still had to put on a show for Lzzy. She wasn’t in that guys lap anymore.
He let out a sigh before putting his lips to my ear. “I’m sorry too.” he whispered. “I forgive you.” I said getting just as close to him. I connected our eyes again, resting on his forehead as I cupped the side of his face. “You can be a better man, and I know you want to,” I said as I ghosted my lips over his, “You just gotta let go.” I whispered before connecting in a soft, no tongue kiss. He hesitated for a moment before he started to kiss back. I pulled away with a small smile. I could see the slight surprise on his face, and I chuckled a little. “Gates said no tongue,” I said, “And we’re not allowed to make out.” I finished with a fake pout. He let out a laugh, and the smile never left his face the rest of the night.
“You know Jim’s been a mess these past few months.” Corey said as we started dancing to our third song. I could almost see the steam coming out of Lzzy’s ears. “I’ll talk to him.” I said. “I heard you joined them.” Corey said turning me so my back was against his chest. “Where did you hear that?” I asked as we swayed to the music. “Kirk paid us a visit after your trip to Vegas.” he said. I chuckled. “Did he now, and what did he say to you?” I asked curiously. “Well we were all ordered to stay away from you,” he paused, “unless you came to us.” he added. “Him and Jim had a very heated discussion.” he said, and I turned to face him. “He has been looking out for me for the past 10 years.” I said. “He even lets me call him dad.” I told him. “Really?” he asked slightly amused. I nodded with a smile. “I didn’t realize you were that close.” he said. I nodded, “The guy taught me how to drive.” I said with a slight chuckle."Even bought me my first car." I added. “I’m glad you were able to find a father in him. He really is a good man.” he said. “The best.” I agreed. “You know Jim knocked your…” he paused and rephrased, “Knocked Jeff out cold that night.” he said. I let out a small laugh. “I know. Brian told me.” I said. It always makes me smile when something happens to him. Is that wrong?
I felt someone nudge roughly past me, and I looked up to see Lzzy and her entourage storm away. I watched them leave before pulling away from Corey. “We win.” I said with a wide smile. He looked to where they were sitting, and around a little before looking back at me. “I didn’t even notice.” he said scratching the back of his neck, “I wasn’t paying attention to her.” he said with a smirk. I couldn’t help but laugh. “I bet that pissed her off even more.” I said between laughs. He joined my laughter for a moment before hugging me suddenly. “Thank you.” he said. “You’re welcome.” I replied returning his embrace.
We pulled away, and I smiled grabbing his hand. “Come on.” I said dragging him to the bar. “Were are we going.” he asked as I dragged him. I ignored his question, and walked up to the girl I seen earlier, who luckily was still here. I tapped her on the shoulder, and she turned to face me. “Hi,” I said with a friendly smile holding out my hand, “I’m Tammy.” I said introducing myself. She returned my smile with a beautiful one of her own. “Stephanie.” she said taking my hand. I shook it, and started to pull Corey forward. “Haaave you met Corey?” I said pushing him to her. They both let out a laugh as I winked at the two before walking away. I always wanted to see if that would work.
I ordered some shots to be sent to the table before leaving the bar, and heading back over to the guys. They were all there, and a few random girls. “She was pissed.” I heard Brian chuckle once I sat down. “That was the plan.” I said with a smirk as the shots arrived. “Mission accomplished.” Jimmy said raising his shot glass. We all downed them, and I ordered a round to be sent to Slipknot’s table from the waitress that brought ours. Corey was still at the bar talking it up with Stephanie. I smiled and stood. “Where are you going?” Brian asked when I stood up. “I have one more thing to take care of.” I said looking over at Jim. He nodded in understanding, and I made my way back to Slipknot.
“Gentlemen.” I said once I approached their table. “Sorry for calling you cowards.” I said breaking the ice. I kind of was. I know its to scare others, but I really didn’t have anything to apologize for. “Sorry for dragging you into this.” Sid said as the shots arrived. “Well you wouldn’t of had to if someone hadn’t borrowed money from you.” I said in all honesty. “Sorry for not stopping it.” I heard Jim. I held my finger up to him letting him know we would speak later. “Water under the bridge guys.” I said raising my shot with a smile. They raised theirs with smiles, and we downed them. Okay no more shots for me tonight.
I looked to Jim, and motioned him to follow me. He stood, and I grabbed his hand which pretty much engulfed my own. I led him out to the dance floor. The music was too fast for what I was planning, but I didn’t care. I wrapped my arms around him, and stood on his feet before burying my head into his torso. He let out a chuckle knowing that we would be okay. It’s how he first taught me how to dance. When I was still sixteen, ballroom type dancing. For a man of 6’6 he was very light on his feet. “I really am sorry.” he apologized again. “I know, and I understand why you were conflicted.” I said looking up at him. “I was more disappointed than anything. You let me down.” I said showing some of the pain that was left. “Never again.” he promised. “I believe you.” I said with a smile before resting my head on him again.
We stayed like that for the whole song, dancing to slow for the pace. We didn’t care. Everything was right again, and I had the most important people of my life back in it. I don’t think the night could have ended better. Lets just hope its not short lived.

Notes

"Haaave you met Corey?" : Barney Stinson/How I Met Your Mother....Just slightly modified, there's no Ted here.
Stepainie is based on Corey's real wife. She's going to make him forget all about Lzzy and Tammy :)
Disturbed job to come. It will be written entirely in third person. There's too many view points to bounce in between.
Stay tuned...

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
