No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 18

Tammy’s POV:
“You can’t go out with him, Tammy please.” Brian begged as I opened the gate for the car Corey sent. “Well I wouldn’t be if you hadn’t went all UFC on him!” I spat at him. I was only going to make it up to him for Brian’s actions. Nothing was going to come of it, but it didn’t help with the slight guilt I felt for hurting Brian. “Please! You don’t know who he is, or what he’s capable of.” he pleaded as I made my way to the door. I stopped and turned to face him. His eyes were full of desperation. “Then tell me! Who is he?” I asked. Silence. Figures. I shook my head slightly in disappointment, and walked out the door.
I smiled when I saw Corey standing by a limo holding the door open. “I thought you were just sending a car?” I asked as he helped me in. He didn’t think it would be a good idea to show up with Brian and all. “I was, but decided fuck him.” he said with a grin as he got in behind me. I chuckled a little. His nose wasn’t broken, but there was a bit of bruising. He was dressed casually. Jeans with a white button up dress shirt. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and what is it with these guys and fedoras? He said dress comfortable, and jeans and t-shirts were most comfortable for me.
“Looks like he doesn’t want us to leave.” Corey said as we pulled up to a closing gate. “Uh sir?” the driver questioned. I couldn’t help but chuckle at his attempt. Did he forget that Jimmy gave me a remote for the gate and doors too? “I got it.” I said pulling it out of my pocket and pushing the button. “I take it he’s not too thrilled about this?” Corey asked once we got on the road. “Nope not at all,” I said shaking my head, “I don’t know what it is about you, or even Jim, that bothers them so much.” I sighed. “They won’t tell me what your gang is.” I said hoping he would reveal something. “That’s because their not allowed to.” he said as he opened a bottle of wine. “Why not?” I asked taking a glass from him. “Its against the rules.” he said simply. Awesome here we go with the rules again. I’m seriously going to bitch Kirk out if I ever see him again. “So the whole code thing isn’t just an excuse?” I asked disappointed. “Nope. I’m afraid it’s very real.” he said. “Well can you tell me?” I asked locking gazes showing a little desperation. He shook his head a sad expression pained his face. I dropped my gaze sighing. “Look, even though you’re temporarily owned by Avenged, you’re still technically a “civilian”, and we’re not allowed to give civilians information about the gangs around, regardless if it’s our own or not.” he explained. I nodded accepting the bullshit answer. “Kirk is so going to hear it from me.” I mumbled turning my gaze to the building we stopped at. I heard a chuckle come from Corey, and I couldn’t help but smile a little.
The driver came around and opened our door, Corey helping me out. Well I gotta say this, for criminals they sure do know how to be gentlemen. A wide smile came across my face when I seen where we were. “Holy shit I thought all of these died.” I said as we made our way into the arcade. Corey smiled wide as he held the door open. “I found the only one with a pulse.” he said following me in. “Thought we were having diner?” I asked as I scanned the walls of classic arcade games. “They serve food here.” he said with a smirk pointing to a food counter. “Somebody did his homework.” I said facing him his smirk turning into a smile. “It helps when I live with someone that knows everything about you.” he said
I made him play every game in the place with me. He was pretty good. I haven’t been to an arcade in ages. I felt like a kid again. Mortal Kombat, House of the Dead, Street Fighter, and Pac-Man, even some I’ve never played before. We were there for hours. The food wasn’t bad. Fast food quality, but still edible. I hope this place sticks around. I would really like to come back. They would probably have to drag Matt out by his ankles just to get him to leave. I’m going to have to bring him someday. He’d be in heaven.
I know Corey thinks this date is going well, and overall it is. If I could just push this guilt out of me. Not just for Brian, but for Corey too. I’ve been having fun, but every time I look at Corey, there’s Brian. It’s really starting to irritate me. I don’t want to think about him. I’m mad at him. There was no reason for him to let his jealousy get out of control like that. I had the situation handled, but fuck was it hot. Goddamn you Gates.
I see the nights not over. We’re not head back the way we came. “Were to now?” I asked with a slight smile. “You’ll see.” he said. I felt kind of bad for leading him on like this, but I just wasn’t ready to ruin his night yet. We stopped in a parking lot next to the ocean. Again not having to touch a door he helped me out. I let him lace our fingers and lead me to our next stop. “Watch your step.” he said helping me up onto a rock wall that had been naturally formed by the water. I stood on the rocks holding onto Corey for balance. Carved out in the rock was a small secluded beach. He had been here earlier. There were unlit tiki torches stuck in the sand waiting to be lit. A large blanket laid out with another awaiting bottle of wine. An acoustic guitar rested in a stand.
He jumped down to the other side. The wall wasn’t that high. Maybe a little higher than my waist. I rested my hands on his shoulders his on my waist as he practically lifted me off the wall. Our bodies were extremely close once my feet hit the sand, and yet my heart didn’t race. Nothing I felt for Brian was there. Damn it get out of there Gates! He wanted to kiss me. I could see it in his eyes, but he didn’t push it. Instead he grabbed my hand again, and lead me to the blanket.
“So do you play?” I asked eyeballing the guitar as he lit the last torch. “I do.” he said taking a seat in front of me. “Can I hear something?” he gave me a smile and a nod before grabbing the guitar. “What do you wanna hear?” he asked getting comfortable. “Got anything original?” I asked cocking my brow a little. Slight sadness filled his eyes as he nodded. I wasn’t expecting to hear something that tore my heart apart.
Bury all your secrets in my skin
Come away with innocence, and leave me with my sins
The air around me still feels like a cage
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again...

So if you love me, let me go.
And run away before I know.
My heart is just too dark to care.
I can't destroy what isn't there.
Deliver me into my fate -
If I'm alone I cannot hate
I don't deserve to have you...
My smile was taken long ago
If I can change I hope I never know

I still press your letters to my lips
And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss
I couldn't face a life without your lights
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight

So save your breath, I will not care.
I think I made it very clear.
You couldn't hate enough to love.
Is that supposed to be enough?
I only wish you weren't my friend.
Then I could hurt you in the end.
I never claimed to be a saint...
Ooh, my own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go

So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself
And I won't listen to your shame
You ran away - you're all the same
Angels lie to keep control...
Ooh, my love was punished long ago
If you still care, don't ever let me know
If you still care, don't ever let me know...

The emotion was a surprise, so were the tears that escaped silently down my cheeks. The sadness on his face when we locked gazes only added to my building guilt. “Who was it?” I asked as he set the guitar aside. “Her name was Lzzy,” he started as he wiped my tears away, “I caught her in bed with another man.” he finish the pain thick in his voice. This wasn’t helping my situation. “I’m sorry.” I whispered not knowing what else to say to him. “It’s not your fault.” he said. I hadn’t noticed how close we had gotten, and soon his lips were on mine. I started to kiss back as his hand touched my face, but I was still getting nothing. I should have never agreed to this. I don’t like hurting people.
I stopped and pushed him away again. “I’m sorry Corey, I can’t do this.” I confessed as I watched his face fall. “You’ve been hurt before and I just can’t.... I don’t want.... It’s just that….” I trailed off. I just didn’t know how to say it. “It’s Gates isn’t it?” he asked with knowing in his voice. I nodded sadly at him. “I’ve felt guilty this whole night, not just for him but you too, Corey I’m sorry.” he nodded. “It’s ok,” he said with understanding, “I respect your honesty.” he finished with a small smile. I returned his smile before wrapping my arms around him hugging him tight. “I did have a great time, and if the situation was different you definitely would have gotten somewhere.” I said pulling away a smirk on my face. He chuckled a little. “I guess that makes me feel a little better.” he said with a smile. I placed a hand on his cheek, “You’ll find someone that deserves you.” I tried reassuring him. He gave me a sad smile before helping me up, and leading me back to the car.
It wasn’t a quiet ride back. Regardless of how the night ended, it was still so easy to fall into conversation with him, and have a good time. I really hope we can keep this friendship, I like it. Brian needs to learn to control himself. I won’t tolerate jealousy like that.
I opened the gate, and soon Corey was helping me out. I hugged him and kissed his cheek, thanking him again for a fun night. I turned to head inside when his hand stopped me. “I know how he is, and how he can be,” he started as I turned to face him, “don’t let him hurt you.” he said before letting go of my hand. I gave him a soft smile and a slight nod before disappearing into the house.
The disappointed look I got from Jimmy when I walked in wasn’t making me feel better. The house was quiet. None of them wanted me to go. They all at one point tried to talk me out of it. “You’re not helping.” I said flatly as I walked past him. “Wasn’t trying to.” he replied as I walked up the stairs to my room. I paused before opening my door, and looked to Brian’s room. His door was closed, but I could see the light on under the door. I could hear him moving about. I sighed opening my door, stopping mid step when Matt caught the corner of my eye. Leaned against his door frame the same disappointment painted on his face. Stop looking at me like that. I feel shitty enough as is. I cut our quick gaze, and stepped in my room closing the door behind me.
I grabbed some clean clothes, a tank and shorts, and headed for the shower to wash the night away. I turned the water on , and stripped of my clothes. Stepping in I let the water flow over me. He got to me. I sighed as it all hit me. He got in, and now I have feelings for him. I chuckled to myself. Damn it Gates.
I turned the water off, and stepped out. Wrapping a towel around me, I wiped the fog off the mirror, and stared at my reflection for a moment. So much has changed. The lack of Jacoby in my thoughts hasn’t gone unnoticed, nor has the increasing thoughts of Brian. I chuckled again shaking my head as I looked down at the sink. You fell for him. I dressed, and left the bathroom. I peeked out my door to make sure no one was in the hall. No more games. Hesitantly I knocked on his door. He answered in just some basketball shorts, an emotionless expression on his face. “Can we talk?”

Notes

Awe poor Corey :( Lzzy will be making an appearance later.....
Song Credit: Snuff/Slipknot. Wow I just realized all the complete songs I've put in here are all sung by Corey Taylor, but no worries none of the others will be, and there are only 2 more I'm putting in. Not sure if everyone likes the songs, but the second half of the story probably won't have any.
Hope you enjoy and keep reading cause shit's about to hit the fan and splatter everywhere :)

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
