No Pulse Inside of Me

Chapter 17

Tammy’s POV: Two Weeks Later:
Tonight is my first job. Some guy that owes them a quarter mill. To say I wasn’t nervous would be a lie. I can put on a good act when hustling, but I’ve never seduced anyone, and wasn’t 100 percent sure it was going to work. They keep reassuring me that it will, so I guess here goes nothing.
We pulled up to the night club. Surprisingly Brian didn’t drive. He sat next to me with my hand tightly in his as he tried to ease my nerves. We’ve been getting closer. Taking things slow, not establishing anything yet. Of course that doesn’t mean we haven’t had some heated make-out sessions, letting him get a little further each time. Opening the door, he stepped out before helping me out closing the door behind me. Everyone was with us. If things didn’t take to long we were going to enjoy the rest of the night. “Ok relax and look at me,” Brian said cupping my face, “you have nothing to be nervous about, everything is going to work out fine. Get him to go out the back entrance. The Berry’s will be hiding in the alley in case there is any problems. We’ll be in, in five minutes.” he finished. I nodded trying to relax myself. He kissed my forehead, turned, and made eye contact with the bouncer at the door. Previous arrangements had already been made, and with a slight nod the night was set in motion. I looked at Brian, and he gave me a reassuring smile before I made my way to the entrance. The bouncer smiled at me as he unhooked the red rope and let me in. I glanced back at Brian just before entering, his soft eyes watching me as I disappeared inside.
The place was packed, and the loud techno music was already hurting my ears. Where the hell is this guy so I can get this over with. There he is, a smile crept out as I spotted him sitting alone at the bar. He wasn’t a bad looking man, but judging from the arrogant look on his face as he scanned the crowd, he thought he was better looking than he was. I pretended not to notice him as I made my way to the empty seat next to him, my eyes locked with the bar. I didn’t sit , but instead leaned over the bar to get the attention of the bartender. I saw him glance at me out of the corner of my eye then do a double take. “Can I get a shot of tequila and beer please?” I asked the bartender when I got his attention. He nodded with a smile before getting my order. I planted both feet on the floor, and went for the metal cigarette case I had tucked in the elastic garter belt around my thigh. I ignored his stare on me as I raised the hem of my dress to reveal the case. Just as I was about to remove it I heard him clear his throat, and I looked up at him. “I got this.” he said with a cocky smirk sliding a ten to the bartender when he returned with my drinks. I smiled sweetly at him, and released my dress from my hands. He struck me as the type to take advantage of a woman’s broken heart, and that’s just what I’m going to give him.
I downed the shot, passing on the lime and salt, and took a seat on the empty stool. “Thank you.” I said giving him another smile. “The name’s Charles.” he said sliding his stool closer to me. “Lynn.” I told him using my middle name. Matt told me not to give him my real name, and that was the first thing that came to mind. “So whats a pretty little thing like you doing here all by yourself.” he asked trying to be smooth. This guy oozed sleaze. “Just drowning some sorrows.” I said avoiding his gaze. I saw a smirk come across his lips. Oh I so called this one. “Well how about I buy you another drink, and you tell me all about it.” he said placing a hand on my knee, his face getting close to mine. My skin instantly started to crawl, and I almost hurled right there. Did this guy seriously not check his breath before he came out tonight? It smelled like he just ate a bunch of crap wrapped in burnt hair.
Something caught his eye over my shoulder. I knew it was the guys coming in. The panic and fear in his eyes gave that away. I brought his attention back to me. “Sounds great,” I said with a sweet smile, “lets grab them, and go outside. Its stuffy in here, and I need a smoke.” I suggested. I don’t smoke cigarettes, but I did have some joints rolled. I really needed something to even out the alcohol. It’s not that I don’t drink, I just don’t drink often. Pot doesn’t come with a hangover. He smirked and ordered us each another before we stood to leave. Snaking an arm around my waist, we pushed through the crowd to the back door. I glance up to the VIP section, and made brief eye contact with Matt. A smile played at his face when he glanced at his watch.
I wasn’t expecting it to be this easy. This guy was looking for an easy lay, and thought he found it in me. Ha ha. A smile came out as I stepped out into the crisp clear night. The alley was empty of people. Well except for the Berry’s hiding behind the dumpster across the alley. JB and I making quick contact as he peeked around the side, and I reached for my case. I leaned my back against the cool ruff brick of the club, and sparked my joint. I really hope this guy isn’t expecting me to share. Maybe if he brushed his teeth with rubbing alcohol I might. Maybe….
He rested against the wall with his shoulder, that smirk still plastered on his face. “So why don’t yo-” he stopped mid sentence when the door flew open. I saw the Berry’s move from the dumpster as the guys stepped out one by one. The panic and fear again flooded his eyes as he turned to take off only to run right into Matt and JB. He didn’t see them come out he was too busy watching the others come out of the club, and they were standing shoulder to shoulder a few feet away from me. “Going somewhere?” Shadz asked when he fell to the ground. He scooted back a little as the guys circled him.
I was still leaned up against the wall smoking on my joint. I don’t get to see what happens after this. I stomped out my roach, and made my way to Brian. He locked gazes with me a smile on his face. I placed a hand on his shoulder from the back, and he placed his arm around my waist. I looked down at the poor man on the ground. I don’t know whats in store for him, but at least their not going after any of his family. He met my gaze. “Y-you set this up.” he stammered out just above a whisper. I smiled softly at him as I reached into Brian’s inside pocket grabbing the mints he keeps in there. “I don’t know what you ate that made your breath smell like a diaper,” I said tossing the mints to him, “but I would seriously consider cutting it out of your diet.” I finished. A few chuckled emitted from the guys when the package hit him in the forehead landing just in front of him.
Brian gave me a peck on the cheek just before I pulled away. I followed the Berry’s back inside. I really hope we don’t hang out here this music sucks. JB offered me a hand through the crowd that I took. For a Thursday night this place sure was packed. Another hand grabbing my other arm stopped us half way through. “Hi Corey.” I greeted him with a smile. I’ve been getting comfortable with him the more and more I get to know him. Its hard not to when he makes it so easy for you to like him. “Got time for a dance?” he asked with a wide smile. “Yea, sure.” I said pulling out of JB’s grasp. “We need to go wait for the guys.” I heard JB as I took Corey’s hand. “Its just a dance.” I said rolling my eyes a little. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.” he said all seriousness on his and Matt’s faces. “You do still kind of owe me for that grand I lost to you a few months back.” Corey said cocking his brow the smile still on his face. I looked at the Berry's, “Can’t argue with that.” I said smirking as I took off into the sea of dancing bodies dragging Corey behind me.

Brian’s POV:
The guy signed his house over to us. Its not the first time someone has done that. Sometimes we almost prefer it. We’ll make double what he owed because his house is worth twice as much. It won’t be a hard sell. We stepped back into the club. This place sucks. We need to get the Berry's and Tammy, and get the fuck out of here. My ears may start to bleed from the crap their playing.
We made our way back up to the VIP section. Reaching the table I noticed only the Berry's. “Where’s Tammy?” I asked. “Dancing.” they said in unison. I looked over the railing down to the dance floor scanning the crowd for her. My stomach churning when I spotted her. “Why the fuck is she dancing with him!” I spat as the anger started to flow through me. “What the fuck did you want us to say, ’hey don’t dance with him he’s the leader of Slipknot.’ You told us not to say anything.” JB defended. “Besides he pulled the whole ’I lost a grand to you, you owe me.’ bit on her, and she wasn’t going to argue.” Matt added.
My jaw clinched, and I stormed from the VIP section to the dance floor. My blood boiled when I saw him lean in and kiss her. She pushed him away, but it did nothing to ease my rage. Before I knew it my hand was grabbing his shirt as my fist collided with his nose causing him to fall to the floor. “Brian! What the hell!” she yell as the crowd parted around us. “He fucking kissed you!” I said pointing down at Corey. “And I pushed him away,” she yelled back grabbing a hand full of napkins from a near table, “we’re not together Brian! You didn’t have to punch him!” she spat at me as she knelt to help Corey with his bloody nose. He took the napkins holding them to his nose as she helped him up. “I’m sorry.” I heard her say as she checked out his injury. He sent me a glare. “Don’t worry about it.” he said turning his gaze to her. “Come on lets get this cleaned up.” she said as they started to walk away. I grabbed her arm, “Tammy.” I said trying to stop her. She whipped around yanking her arm from my grasp. Anger burned in her eyes. “Don’t.” she said firmly leaving me to watch her and Corey disappear into the crowd.
I sighed turning heel and walking back up to the guys who were watching the whole confrontation. I ignored their sympathetic looks as I watched her from the railing. Joey, Paul, and Shawn were with him. They were gathered at a table tending to Corey. I hope it’s broken, I smirked to myself. “Go get the cars, I’ll go get her.” I heard Shadz say patting my shoulder as he walked past me.
The guys and I made our way out as Shadz made his way to Tammy. I have a feeling I just took a huge leap backwards on the progress I’ve made with her. I should have controlled myself when I seen her push him away. I pulled up to the main entrance. Shadz and Tammy were waiting for us. She didn’t look the least bit pleased. I could tell by the lack of eye contact and the silence in the ride home that I fucked up.
She flung open the door as soon as I parked, and stormed into the house and up the stairs slamming the door to her room. How the fuck was I going to fix this. The guys took off in their own directions as I slowly ascended the stairs and to her room. I knocked a few times. She flung the door open, and glared at me. “What!” she barked impatiently. “I-I’m sorry.” I stammered out a little taken back by how intimidating she seemed at the moment. “I just couldn’t control myself when I saw him kiss you. I didn’t like it.” I said gaining my composure. She huffed, “Well then you’re really not going to like it when he takes me to diner Sunday night.” she spat slamming the door in my face leaving me stunned and speachless.

I would be interested in a rewrite if that’s what you feel like you wanna do. I would read the new version too, even though I don’t find anything wrong with the original.
