Gabriel's lawyer called me to the stand. I walked up and sat down in the chair next to the judge.
"Miss Haner. I need to ask you a few questions." the judge said and I nodded.
"The defendant is your brother correct?" judge Hunters asked.
"Yes."
"In your statement you gave the police it said that he came by your home and wanted to be a part of your life but you refused. Correct?" he asked again.
"Yes sir."
"His return was him saying that he would see you really soon. You were at the beach and his men and him came up to you?" he said.
"Yes sir. One of Gabriel's men put a knife in my back by his orders."
"He forced you to leave the beach didn't he?" he asked leaning over.
"Yes sir he did."
"Did he ever search you?" he asked.
"No sir."
"Can you please tell the court what happened next?" he asked. I looked over at Gabriel and he gave me a glare.
"Yes sir I can. He put me into the car with his men and the man with the knife held it to my side. When we arrived at the place, he threatened to have his men rape me...I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket and I knew it was my dad texting me to see where I was."
"Your dad is Brian Haner Jr. correct?" the judge asked me and I nodded.
"Please continue." He said.
"I asked if I could go to the bathroom and then that's when I sent a text to my dad telling him what happened. He said to keep my phone hidden and put it on silent. The man that pushed me into the bathroom opened the door and took me back to the couch where everyone else was....After hours of just sitting there, I really had to go to the bathroom. The man took me back to the bathroom locking the door from the outside. I opened my phone again and my dad told me that he was hiding in the woods with police officers. I told him that I was going to ask to take a shower and make my escape out the window in the bathroom. When I asked the man with the knife if I could take a shower, he locked the door back and seconds later brought me clothes and a towel. When I heard the door lock, I wait for a minute and then turned on the shower. I closed the curtain where the man outside could hear it and that's when I opened the window and cilmbed out.....I looked around to make sure that no one was around so I started running. I then heard a gunshot and I fell to the ground. I looked to see my dad running towards me and he picked me up. I was almost unconscous and the police surrounded he house. I head one of the officers tell my dad to get me away from the place and then I blacked out. When I awoke the next morning, I seen a bandage on my leg."
"You are a very brave young lady for doing that." the judge said smiling. I smiled right back and nodded. I was asked to step down and I went over and sat beside Brian. He held my hand under the table and I looked up at him.
The lawyers had their last chance to speak before the jury left to render a verdict. The jury came back in no time.
"Will the defendant please rise?," I watched as he rose to feet looking at me, "Members of the jury, have you reached a verdict?" the judge asked. One of the jury members stood up.
"Yes we have you honor."
"How do you find the defendant?" he asked.
"On the count of kidnapping, we find the defendant Gabriel Devistation guilty. On the count of attempted murder, we find the defendant Gabriel Devistation guilty. On the count of attempted murder of police officers we find the defendant Gabriel Devistation...guilty."
"Gabriel Devistation, you have been found guilty of all charges. I sentence you to life in prison with no possibility of parole. Balif take him away." the judge said as he slammed down the gavel. The balif took Gabriel but stopped in front of me.
"I love baby sis."
"Rot in hell you asshole." I said coldly and the balif pulled him into the back. I hugged my dad and we all walked out of the court room. I was hungry as hell so we all stopped at Mickey D's to eat. We ate and I sat in the back with Matt as we made our way back home. I leaned up against Matt's shoulder and closed my eyes. I was soon asleep before we even arrived home.
