Lost Without You (Jimmy Sullivan)

Jimmy’s P.O.V.
Ruby and I stayed there for a long time just being with my friends. She was being respectful and just sat down beside me as I talked to my friends. They said that they were already looking for another guitar player, Papa Gates was filling in until they could find one.
“Zacky wants to quit too. He said it’s hard for him and having you around isn’t helping much,” Johnny told me.
“What am I going to do? Leaving Huntington Beach?” I asked dumb folded about what Zacky was thinking. He wasn’t the only person that was hurting about all of this. We were all in this together.
“No!” Matt called and ran his fingers through his now longer hair, “We can’t break up…the fans…” I sighed, Matt was right. Over the past weeks we have been getting a lot of fan mail saying how sad they were about Brian’s passing. A lot of them had drawings of him, letters, they were hurting. They were hurting over our friend and it made me feel kind of…not alone.
I nodded at Matt and I looked to Ruby who had cleared her throat.
“I have a suggestion for a guitar player,” She said nervously. I looked at her and my brother’s nodded. She took a deep breath and rubbed her hands on her knees. She looked at us, looking with this fear in her eyes or something.
“Well, his favorite guitar player was Slayer right … so … maybe him and Papa Gates can help finish the album,” She said nervously, “And I know someone who is a mind blowing guitar player who would love to play for you guys,” She said and I couldn’t help but smile at her. This was brilliant and made me wonder why didn’t think of it earlier.
“That’s an amazing idea,” Matt smiled at her and she blushed just a bit. Johnny agreed with this and so did I, the only person we needed to convince was Zacky. Johnny had called him, having to leave him a message. Matt had handed us some drinks and we just sat around and told Ruby about Brian. It felt good to tell her these funny stories about our brother, how good of a guitar player he was and how much we loved him. He was the best brother I could ever ask for. In the end, we were laughing and I knew that this is what Brian had wanted all along was for us to be happy.
“He sounds amazing,” She smiled at me and I nodded, wiping the tears off of my eyes, “He was amazing,” She came and pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head and I hugged her back. She was now my best friend, she was the one that could hold my heart in her hands, like she knew how to take care of it.
“Thank you Ruby,” I whispered to her and she kissed my cheek.
“Anything for you, Jimmy,” She smiled.
“Are you two a couple?” Johnny asked randomly and I looked at him and blushed a bit and Ruby was kind of taken aback from this.
“No were not,” Ruby said and moved away from me which made my heart drop. I liked her hugging me and being with me and it actually hurt just a bit hearing that we weren’t a couple. I really wanted us to be but I can see out dilemma on that.
Johnny nodded, Matt looking down to his phone.
“Zacky,” He said and picked it up. He told Zacky what was going on and he was silent for a long while and then he smiled and hung up.
“He said Brian would love it,” He said. I let out a sigh of relief. There was only one thing left and that was to get Zacky on my good side again but that was going to have to wait. My phone rang and I picked it up seeing that it was Brian’s older brother Brent.
“Hey man w-”
“Don’t talk James,” He growled, “You are never, and I mean NEVER allowed to see Abby again, you understand?” He growled at me and all I could hear in the background was my angel screaming my name and Papa yelling at his son. Then there was a gun shot and silence ringing on the other end of the phone causing the phone to slip from my hand.
