Playing With Fire
Una Noche en Barcelona (part 2)
I slowly and carefully painted my eyelashes with the mascara for the night. After finishing and setting the make-up down, I stood and walked back out into the main room to grab my purse.
"Come on, we gotta go." I said to Brian. He stood and walked over to me, giving me a peck on the lips. I smiled and followed him out and down the stairs, through the lobby and out to the car. Brian pulled out of the parking lot of the hotel and sped down the road. His right hand intertwined with mine as he drove. We've only been together not even a month, but it's like we've been together for so much longer. Brian pulled into another parking lot and parked the car and put his sunglasses on. He got out and walked around the vehicle to get me out. After I was out of my seat we walked to the building, hand in hand. The hostess saw us and smiled.
"Name please." She said in a thick spanish accent.
"Haner." He muttered quietly and she nodded and grabbed two menus. We made our way to the table in the back that was private and quiet. I sat down and grabbed the menu from the hostess and she walked away.
"This restaurant is really pretty." I commented, looking around. He nodded and I crossed my legs. My phone started to go off shortly after and I felt like we were getting looks from those that were in the room with us. I grabbed the phone and hit SEND.
"Hello." I answered the phone quietly.
"Hey Ever." I heard Eric say.
"Hey Eric! I haven't talked to you in a while what's up?" I asked.
"Nothing much, um I have something to tell you." He said. Oh no, he got arrested and needs someone to bail out.
"Eric, I can't come bail you out, I'm not even in the US." I told him and he chuckled.
"I'm not in jail. No, I wanted to let you know that I had to sell the house." He confessed. My eyes got wide and Brian gave me a look.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I had to sell the house because I couldn't make the last two payments since Mel moved out and you aren't here." He seemed really annoyed.
"Mel doesn't live there?" I asked.
"Nope. She moved in with her new boyfriend and I haven't talked to her in almost a month." He revealed to me. I looked down at the table and sighed.
"Well I'm at dinner with Brian, I'll call you when we get back to the hotel." I said.
"Ok. I just wanted to let you know." He said. I sighed again and hit END and set my phone in my purse.
"What's up?" Brian asked.
"Eric had to sell our house because he couldn't make the payments." I bit the inside of my lip and Brian smiled at me. The waitress walked over with some appetizers and a notebook.
"What can I get you two tonight?" She asked.
"Well I think we'll both get some fruit Margaritas and I will get the Vieiras." Brian ordered. She wrote really fast and turned to me.
"And for you?" She asked.
"Um, the Rabo de Toro al Vino." I told her and she wrote it down and grabbed the menus.
"I will be right back with those Margaritas." She said and walked away.
"This is nice. Being able to relax at a restaurant and spend time with you." I looked at Brian and he smiled at me.
"Same here. You know, ever since I first laid my eyes on you I knew you were something special and something important." He confessed. I smiled and felt my face turn red.
"Ok, so I was thinking that when we get back to the hotel, after your little phone call, we can have sex." He said the last part quietly.
"Of course. We haven't since a day before we left for here, that was like two days ago." I laughed and the waitress came back with our drinks.
"Thank you." I told her and she walked away. The drink was a pink color and smelled like watermelons. My hand brought the drink to my lips and I took a sip.
"This is really good." I said after I set the cup down.
"I know. I've been here before, with the guys on a business dinner and I got this." He said.
"I'd think you'd've gotten beer." I laughed and he smirked at me.
"There's only a month and a half left of tour." He looked sad. I put my hand on his arm and looked at him.
"Don't worry, I live in Huntington Beach, we'll see each other all the time." I assured him.
"Of course we will, you are friends with Arin and the guys and you work with Michelle and Val." He smiled and I nodded. We both fell silent and looked around. I was more interested in the view of the ocean from here. The waitress came back to our table shortly after with our food. After setting out the plates she held the big tray to her body and looked at the both of us.
"Can I get you anything else?" She asked. I shook my head and Brian did the same. She walked away and I got to my food. It looked so elegant, almost like it was too good looking to eat, but I was hungry and needed food. I took a bite and the taste melted my mouth, it was so savory and delicious. Brian was eating his food in silence like I was. We finished eating and I pushed my plate away from me.
"That was really good." I said and rubbed my stomach. Brian nodded and we waited for the waitress to come back with our check. I yawned and looked out the window.
"I don't understand how you girls can pull of a messy hair do and still make it look fancy." He looked baffled. I laughed and rolled my eyes.
"We are magic, that's how." I looked back out the window and then heard the waitress walk back.
"I hope you enjoyed your food." She said and we stood to leave. Brian grabbed my hand and we walked back to the front and he paid.
"Keep the change." He smiled at the hostess and we left. I climbed back in the SUV and buckled myself.
Once we arrived back at the hotel and got back to our room I took off my shoes and called Eric back. The bed was open and waiting to be laid in. My legs climbed over it and sat down pretzel style, even though I'm in a dress.
"Hello." I heard.
"Ok, we're back at the hotel. So you sold the house?" I asked. He chuckled.
"Yeah, but I got it for more than what you bought it for." He told me.
"How much?" I asked.
"Well you bought it for what, $234,000? I sold the house for $360,000." He said. I made a face of approval and surprise
"Wow, thats more than 100k more. What did you do with all my shit?" I asked. Brian had laid down next to me and was playing on his phone.
"It's in storage right now, until you get back." He said.
"Where're you living now?" I asked. He was shuffling around by him.
"I got an apartment closer to the ocean, it has two bedrooms and is hoping you'll move in once you get back." He sounded like he was giving me puppy eyes.
"Are you asking if when I get back I'll still live with you?" I laughed at his question.
"Kinda, yeah." He laughed back at me.
"Well no duh. You are one of my bestest friends, of course I'll live with you still. And I have five extra guys who can help move all my crap." I smirked and heard him roll his eyes.
"Well it's almost 2 over here and I have to get to the bar for a double night shift." He sighed and I heard him stand.
"Have fun at work, and if you see Mel, tell her she should stop thinking of just herself and think of her friends." I told him.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Bye." He said and hung up. I hit END and threw my phone at the floor.
"Happy now?" Brian asked. I smiled and moved to straddle him.
"Not quite." I said and bent over to kiss Brian. He put his hands on my hips and we turned over so I was laying on my back. That night was a night I would never forget.
