Brian’s POV

Ugh! Why can’t she just stay the hell out of my damn business. I sat in the studio working on some new material for the band when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in.” I looked over to see Johnny stood in the doorway.

“Hey. Breakfast is ready,” I nodded and looked at the time, 8am.

“Ok man I’ll be up there soon.”

I sighed and put my custom Schecter down on its stand before I walked up the stairs that lead from the basement to the kitchen.

We all waited while Matt helped himself to the food first, then I went, followed by Kodi, Zack, Jimmy and finally Johnny. We sat in silence until Matt stopped eated and looked to his left where Kodi always sat.

“Why do you smell of a rotting corpse?”

I looked over at her and sniffed the air. How could we all miss that?

“I bumped into Michael last night after you guys left the bar,” she whispered looking at her plate.

Suddenly Matt’s fist slammed into the table, causing us all to jump, “Why didn’t you think to tell us this!”

“Because it wasn’t anything important he was passing through.”

I looked at her and knew she was lying, she was twisting our mothers ring around on her thumb, “Really? Because you only play with mom’s ring when you lie, sissy,” I smirked at her.

She let out a low growl and looked at Matt, “honestly it wasn’t anything threatening the pack I swear.”

He nodded and finished eating before taking his plate to the kitchen and going towards his office.

“God when will you stop treating this pack like shit! First you yell at the alpha, then you come home stinking of the undead and now you lied to us? Mom and Dad would be so proud of you right now. They didn’t raise you like this!”

Before I knew what happened I was thrown against the door frame by her. I managed change just as my back collided with the wall and growled at her before attacking her. She managed to punch my jaw before she shifted.

We both lunged at each other trying to pin the other to the ground. At some point we managed to end up outside the back of the house. As we were fighting I caught a glimpse of Zack and Jimmy stood on the back porch watching us ready to split us up if it got too out of hand.

I felt my claws cut through the flesh of Kodi’s stomach, I didn’t react when she let out a yelp of pain. Instead I wrapped my jaw around her throat and put pressure on it as well as her new cuts.

I was suddenly knocked off by a ball of black fur, Zack. He was now stood in front of Kodi’s panting body. He snarled at me and snapped at my nose until I backed away from her. Once he was happy I wasn’t too close he turned and licked her muzzle and laid down with her.

She has him wrapped around her little finger. I did feel the smallest bit of guilt but I just turned and ran through the woods. I stopped at the edge of the trees opposite what must be Brooklyn’s apartment. It smells of strawberries and vanilla, just like her.

I laid down and thought what it would be like if I could spend time with her, there’s something about her that is calling to me.


Zack’s POV

“I swear I’m going to kick his ass when he gets home,” I looked over at Jimmy and sighed as I lay my head on Kodi’s side carefully.

“There won’t be any need for that Zack. She’ll get him back. She’s a strong wolf,” Jimmy smiled and knelt down next to her, now human form, and checked the cuts, “They’ll heal by tomorrow.”

“What’s his obsession with that girl?”

“I don’t know man. When he lets his mind wonder she’s all he can thing about which is strange because they only met today right?”

I nodded, “as far as I know yeah.”

I couldn’t believe that Brian brought up their parents though he knows that it’s a sore subject with Kodi. You see after we all moved out she was left with them alone and although they got on well, they weren’t really bothered about her. They wanted to send her to a pack so that she could be mated with a random guy and have pups. But Brian wouldn’t allow this and they all got in to a big fight about it. Since then we’ve not heard from their parents. Brian knows this so why he’s being an asshole I will never know.

I got up and shifted before carrying Kodi up to our room where I laid her on the bed and took a quick shower. I was in the middle of washing my hair when I felt a thin pair of arms wrapped around my waist. I looked over my shoulder and smiled at her.

“Hey, how ya feeling?”

She kissed my shoulder and sighed softly, “A little sore but it’ll be ok soon Zee. Please don’t hurt him.”

I nodded my head and turned around in her arms, “If he does anything again though I will kick his ass,” I gave her a quick peck on the lips before I picked her up with my hands resting on her ass, “I love you.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck while her legs went around my waist, “I love you too,” She kissed my cheek softly and rested her head on my shoulder.

“Want to lay in bed and watch a movie?” I smiled down at her. I felt her nod as I set her back on her feet and kissed the side of her head, “I’ll be right out as soon as I finish washing my hair baby.”

“Okay Zee, I’ll get a movie ready for us,” She smiled as she stepped out of the shower and walked back into our room. I quickly finished washing my hair before I roughly towel dried it and wrapped a towel around my waist and headed back into the bedroom. I smiled as I saw her curled up I one of my shirts.

I dried myself of quickly and pulled some boxers on before I pulled back the covers and laid down with her and pulled her close as she pressed play on the DVD remote. The opening scene of Remember Me, featuring Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin, started, this was her favourite movie. I understood why it was. Tyler, Robert’s character, has a little sister that he would do anything for, just like Brian used to do for Kodi. I rubbed her back and I was soon met with her soft snores telling me that she had fallen asleep already. I turned the TV down and wrapped my other arm around her waist and rested my head above hers on her pillow. I felt myself drifting off with the steady beat of her heart and the quiet noise coming from the TV.
