Second Heartbeat

Brooklyn’s POV

I spent my day off work listening to music, while cleaning the apartment and thinking of everything that had happened in the last two days.

Once I was happy with how clean the apartment was I decided it was time to go out on a shopping spree so I called the only other person I knew here, besides Luke that is.

I smiled as her voice came over the phone, “hello?’

“Mary, are you free today?” I bit my lip as I waited for her to reply.

“Nope. I’m free. Hey there’s a concert tomorrow night if you want to go with me?” I could tell she was smirking.

“Hell yeah! I’ve got work until 3pm tomorrow so pick me up straight from there and we can go to the venue. Who is it?” I grabbed my leather jacket and walked out of my apartment before locking the door.

“Yep sounds like a plan. I can’t tell you that. I’ll meet you at the mall in half an hour if that’s ok.”

“Yeah I’m just heading to my car now. Bye Mary.” I hung up after she said bye. Just as I reached my car I saw the wolf from the other day laying under the trees. I looked around before heading over to it. I let out a scream as it knocked me over and licked my face. “Ewwww get off” I laughed as I pushed his head away. With one final lick along my cheek he got off, that’s when I noticed a little bit of blood on him.

“Were you fighting boy?” I rubbed his head as I sat up. He shook his head and looked around before running back through the trees.

I watched him go before heading back to my car and getting in it. I turned up the stereo when I heard Almost Easy by Avenged Sevenfold playing. I turned it down as soon as I pulled up at the mall, so I didn’t scare myself later on.

After I made my way through the doors of the mall I saw Mary talking on the phone. I walked up to her and smiled just as she hung up the phone.

“Hey I thought you’d gotten lost” She smiled as we walked towards the shops.

“Why? I’m not late am I?” I looked at my phone. Shit “Oh my god I’m sorry. I saw a dog by my building and went to make sure he was ok.”

She smiled and nodded her head, “Don’t worry about it.”

A few hours later, and a lot of shopping bags, we headed towards the food court where I recognised the girl, Kodi I think her name is, sat with a guy.

“So what do you want?” I looked over at Mary.

“Errrr cheeseburger is fine Mary I’ll find us a table.” With that we both split up.

As I sat down I caught the girls eye and I could have sworn they seemed to have a hint of purple. Strange it must be the lighting affecting them.

“So this show it’s in LA and I have meet and greet,” Mary told me as she sat down with our food.

“No way! How did you manage that?” I looked at her as I took a bite out of my burger, “Damn this is good.”

“Contest,” she smiled as she ate her food.

We quietly chatted about what had happened since we last hung out around a week ago. I left out that I met those five guys and the girl. I looked around the food court again and saw that Kodi was sat watching me. I gave her a small smile before getting up to throw my trash away.

As we left the mall I saw Kodi once again but this time it looked like she was arguing with someone.

“Oh my god. Do you know who that girl is?” I looked over at Mary and shook my head.

“Nope.”

“I swear she’s Syn’s sister” I looked at her confused.

“Who?” I looked back and caught Kodi’s eyes once again, they looked purple. Damn I must be tired, “I’ve got to go get ready for work. I’ll see you tomorrow at 3pm?”

“Yeah. I’ll be back at work on Monday. You really need to look up Avenged Brook.”

“I will bye,” I waved getting in my car. I turned the stereo up as I pulled out of the parking space and headed home.

Kodi’s POV

I thought the mall would be safe for me to hang out today but nope. She just had to be there too. All the effort I went to get away from my brother I end up seeing, Bella? God knows what her name is but I really don’t care. I was meant to be meeting my dad today but just after I got here he told me he wouldn’t be able to make it. Something had come up. It’s the same damn story. I spoke to them a couple of months back after they wouldn’t stop calling. Yet every time I try to meet up they pull the somethings come up card on me last minute.

I decided that I would stay at the mall simply because I needed space from my idiot of a brother and the rest of the guys were all too busy worrying about the concert tomorrow. I don’t know why they’ve done shows so many times. I know they’ll rock this one too. They had a meet and greet with a contest winner before the show as well.

I was sat in the food court when I saw her again. Just as I was about to leave I noticed Michael had sat down.

“What do you want? This isn’t your territory,” I looked at him. I looked around just as she looked over at me. I tried to control my emotions but once I saw her shake her head I knew my eyes had changed colour slightly.

“Easy Haner. People will question you with those purple eyes.”

I sighed and closed them for a second before looking back at him, “you still haven’t answered why you’re where.”

“Oh I told you I’m keeping an eye on the girl. It’s such a shame that your brother interrupted Bailey and Brooklyn”

I watched her as she stood up, I saw her give me a small smile before I looked back at Michael, “And like I said before stay away. She’s fair game in your territory but here you can’t fuck with the humans.”

“You better watch out for her.”

“No you had better fuck off back where you came from and leave us alone,” I looked back over at her as they were leaving and saw the girl she was with point at me.

“Eyes Miss Haner. Watch out now. Bailey will be back again.” With that he walked off into the crowd of people. I watched him leave and noticed that Brooklyn and her friend had gone.

I walked out of the mall to see her just pulling out of the car park. I headed over to my card and followed to make sure she made it home safe. I stopped at the end of the road before heading back to the house.

Once I got there I saw all the guys, minus Matt, were sat watching a baseball game on the TV in the living room.

“Anyone made food?” I looked over at them and sighed once they shook their heads without turning to look at me.

Screw them they can make their own food. I walked in to the kitchen Matt sat at the table with a coffee in his hand.

“Trouble again?”

I sighed and sat down, “can we go to your office to talk about this?” I saw him nod and stand up.

“Meet me there in five,” and with that he took his coffee and headed in the direction of his office.

I grabbed a cereal bar from the cupboard and made myself a coffee before going to his office. I knocked once I got there.

“Come in,” as soon as he’d given permission I walked in and shut the door behind me, locking it to make sure no one else came in.

I sat in the chair on the opposite side of his desk and put my feet on it. I smirked at him when he gave me a disapproving look.

“I’ll ignore the fact that your feet are on my desk if you tell me why you once again smell of the undead.”

“I ran into Michael at the mall, considering you all were busy and I was avoiding my brother. He threatened the girl again.”

“Again? You mean he did it before and I’m just finding out about it?”

I nodded, “Only because we both know if Brian knew about it he’d attack without thinking things through. He won’t get away with it just for the fact that he’s here.” I saw him nod his head and run his hand over his face.

“So I’ll go talk to the council and get them to make him leave. But why are you protecting this girl if you hate her?”

“I might hate her but at the end of the day she’s still a human and the rule is no humans are to be harmed by any supernatural being. If they’ve given consent, then you know as well as I do that it’s fine there Mattie.”

“True. Don’t say a word to Brian but while we’re at the show tomorrow I want you keeping an eye on her. I don’t know why Michael is obsessed with her.”

I nodded and stood up, “I’ll do my best.”

“You can go Kodi.” He waved his hand in dismissal. I stood up and left his office and walked down the stairs just to bump into my brother.

“Little sister. You really need to stop seeing the undead it’s really starting to stink the damn place out,” I rolled my eyes at my brother’s statement before walking over to Zacky.

“Want to head upstairs?” I whispered in his ear softly. In an instant he was stood up and throwing me over his shoulder. He took the stairs two at a time.

As soon as he reached our room he threw me on the bed. I chuckled and stood up, I slowly unbuttoned my checked shirt before I allowed it to fall off my shoulders, leaving me in my red lacy bra and black jean shorts. I unbuttoned my shorts before slowly pulling them down my tanned legs. I stood in front of him in just my underwear before I reached up and kissed his snake bitten lips, with my own. I smirked against his lips as I felt his erection.

“Down boy,” I whispered against his ear as I walked into our connecting bathroom and locked the door.

“You little tease!”

I bit my own pierced lip as I heard him groan in our room. I turned the shower on and once it was at the right temperature I took my underwear off and stepped under the hot water.
