God Damn

Everyone started to arrive for our family dinner and I took care of making everyone drinks as I finished up the cooking. Lauren, Kate helped me set the table and place the food on the table. I heard the front door open and I knew it must be Johnny since he was the only one who wasn’t at the house yet.

I smiled when I saw him and surprisingly Teagan walk to where me and the other ladies were. “Hey Johnny and Teagan.” I hugged Johnny and his girlfriend. “Would you like to help us in the kitchen?”

“Sure.” Teagan smiled and I wanted to welcome her into the Avenged family the best I could without scaring her away. Johnny went to hang with the guys until we had everything completely set up.

“Would you like a glass of wine, beer or something else?”

“White wine would be great.” I walked into the kitchen and Teagan followed me.

“This is such a beautiful house and you guys have so much space.” I grinned but I appreciate Teagan making conversation with me. I poured her a glass of white wine as she spoke and I got myself a glass too.

“Thank you. Matt wanted me to have the best and I am grateful I can call this house ours.” I smiled and handed her the glass of wine. I took a sip of my wine and I felt good about how this evening will go.

I checked on Kate and Lauren who had the table completely set up. “Thanks ladies for the help. I’ll go get the guys and we can eat.” I smiled and walked to the living room where the guys were being amused by Maddox’s high energy.

“Dinner is ready.” I grinned when Maddox came running to me and I scooped him up. “Are you having fun with daddy and your uncles?”

“Yes mommy!” I smiled and kissed his cheek as we headed to the dining room. I got Maddox situated at the table and I smiled over at Matt. He smiled back and I remember the first family dinner we had when things became official between us.

Once everyone was seated and they got their food I stood up. “I am happy you guys came over tonight. I am so grateful to call everyone my family and I know Jimmy is looking down on us being proud. I am happy that the band is still going and that I can be a part of the next album. So, cheers to family, love and good things that are sure to come.” I raised my wine glass and I felt tears come to my eyes as we all raised our drinks.

“That was beautiful Saige.” Matt reached for my hand and I gave it a squeeze. I leaned over and kissed his cheek.

“Well said.” Brian smiled over at me and I knew that things would take a long time to feel normal again without Jimmy but for now this was a start. Having each other and supporting each other was important right now.

“Thanks, Bri.”

Everyone started to eat and I truly felt blessed that I have always had the guys when times were tough and when times were good as well.

The conversation was in full swing during the meal as the alcohol was flowing as well. I felt bad for Lauren since she could not drink but that was the downside of being the pregnant one which I knew all too well. But she smiled over at me and I knew she was still having a good time and that’s all that mattered right now.

After dinner, everyone helped to clear the table and I felt like the dinner was a success up to this point. As I was about to leave the kitchen Matt wrapped his arms around me and I smiled. “You did amazing baby. I owe you a lot for helping me keep the band together.”

I blushed at Matt’s comment and that was partially due to the alcohol but after all these years he still makes me blush. “Thanks, Matty. You don’t owe me anything because I care a lot about you, the guys and the band and I never have to think twice about when to help.”

“I love you.” I ran my hand along Matt’s chest and connected our lips in a soft kiss. Simple moments like this melted my heart these days.

I love you too Saige, always.” We stayed in the embrace for a few moments before Matt offered to look after Maddox while I cleaned up.

The ladies helped me clean up so it did not take too long and once we were done we headed to the studio. The guys were drinking beer and doing some jamming. Maddox was passed out in Matt’s lap.

I leaned down and kissed Matt’s lips and smiled. “I’ll take him up to bed. Have fun.” I grinned.

“We shouldn’t be in here for too much longer than I’ll join you downstairs.”

“Okay.” I then walked out of the studio and I got Maddox changed and tucked into bed. “Good night my sweet angel.” I smiled and closed the door as I left my sons room.

As I was heading back downstairs to join the ladies there was a knock on the front door. I wondered who that was. I jogged to the front entrance and opened the door. It was Nicole and she looked like utter shit.

“Nic what brings you around?” I was bitter because she rarely spoke to me these days and it broke my heart.

“Do I need a reason to visit my sister and her family these days?”

“Of course, you don’t but you barely speak to me these days.”

“I’m sorry Saige. It’s not personal I just needed some time away from here and LA has been treating me good. But I promise I’ll come by more often and I’ll call more too.” I smiled at that because Nicole meant so much to me. I wrapped my arm around her shoulders “Everyone is here since we had a family dinner.”

Nicole frowned and I did invite her but she never got back to me. I am happy she at least showed up even though she was very late.

I led her to the living room where the ladies were chatting and they noticed me and Nicole walk into the room.

“Nicole!” Kate and Lauren ran up to her and wrapped their arms around her. I waved Teagan over.

“Teagan this is my sister Nicole.” Nicole gave her a smile.

“I’m Johnny’s girlfriend.” Teagan was shy but it was to see her socializing and fitting right into
our group.

“Nice to meet you.” They hugged and I smiled. Everyone walked back to the couches and got comfortable.

I quickly went up to the studio to let Matt know that Nicole had stopped by. We all talked and had some wine. Lauren decided to leave early and I don’t blame her since pregnancy is exhausting and she was in the rough stage. I thanked her for coming and walked her to the front entrance.

“Have a safe drive. The guys will probably end up crashing here but I’ll text you later to let you know for sure.”

“Thanks Saige. I had a great time tonight and I appreciate everything you have been doing.”

I smiled. “Your welcome and it’s my pleasure. I feel like the mom of the family right now.” I chuckled but it was a role that I was happy to fill for now.

“You are doing great. Goodnight girl.”

“Night.” I smiled and waved as Lauren walked to where her and Brian’s car was parked.

For the rest of the night we chatted about family and it was nice to get to know Teagan who is a perfect match for Johnny. Once the ladies were gone except Nicole who was going to stay at the house for a few days.

I got the guest room all set up for Nicole and as I was about to leave the room she touched my arm.

“You know I haven’t given you enough credit over the last couple years.”

“Don’t worry about it Nic. I don’t that expect to be praised by you and plus Matt does that enough.” I grinned.

“I’ll always be here for you Saige, and I apologize for just showing up after how awful I’ve been to you.”

“I appreciate your apology Nicole. Your actions are forgiven and I am happy you’ll be around for a few days.” We hugged and I left to allow her to get settled in for the night.

I checked on Maddox and he was sound asleep and then I walked into our bedroom to get changed into some lazy clothes. I looked at my phone and it already 1 am and just as I was about to go let Matt know I was ready for bed he walked into our room.

“Hey, you I was just about to go see you.” I smiled over at my husband.

“I have good timing then.” He grinned.

“Yes, it is. Did you guys get much done in the studio?”

“We did but after a while we decided to just jam and drink.” I could smell the booze off Matt’s breath. I did not drink too much tonight for the sake of Lauren.

“Shall we head to bed?” I asked and wrapped my arms around Matt’s body for a hug and he hugged me back.

“Sounds good darling.” He leaned down and kissed me. I pulled away from the kiss slowly and we both then got ready for bed.
