God Damn

Matt’s POV

The week Saige and I had together flew by fast but that’s how it goes when you have fun. Reality has set back in and we must be there for our kids since they need us the most right now. Quinn was still with Benji for another week but Maddox’s time with Saige’s Aunt and Uncle was up. We drove back to Huntington Beach and it felt nice to be back. The time in the cabin proved to be productive and relaxing. I felt more refreshed and I am sure Saige felt the same.

I helped Saige unload the car and we got settled back into our house. The doorbell rang and I quickly jogged to the front entrance. I smiled when I saw Maddox running towards me “daddy!” I picked him up and gave him a hug.

“How’s my little rock star?”

“Good daddy.” I thanked Saige aunt and uncle and told them I’d go get her. I called for my wife and she joined us a few minutes later.

“Mommy!” Maddox had quite a voice and I like to think he got that from me and Saige. She teases me all the time and calls Maddox the mini Matt. He is growing up so fast and it is hard to believe he will be three soon and Quinn is approaching four.

Saige smiled as Maddox reached out for her and I put him down. He then quickly ran to her and she scooped him up. “Mommy and daddy missed you.” I could not say anything negative about how Saige and I have raised our kids. We have done a great job considering and with Quinn we had to adjust fast to parenthood. With Maddox, it was slightly easier since we knew what to expect.

I ran my hand along my wife’s back and kissed her cheek. “I’m going to call the guys. I’ll be in the studio.”

“Ok, darling. Tell the guys I said hi.” Saige kissed my lips and sometimes I could not get enough of them. I grinned to myself as I walked to the studio we set up in the house, which was bigger than the previous we had in the last house.

I spoke to the guys and we decided to work on the writing here my studio and if it did not go well we would get out of Huntington Beach. I did not want to be too far from my family and it would be easier for Saige to be involved. Then once we got the writing and demoing done we would record the new material in a larger studio.
As hard as the recording process was going to be this time around I knew it would be good for all of us to grieve and get our feelings out.

I knock on the studio door drew me out my thoughts and I got up and walked to the door to see Saige standing there. “Hey baby.”

“I was thinking we could have the guys and ladies over for supper. I’ll go out and get everything and I get started on cooking.”

“That’s a great idea darling. They were going to come over anyways and they won’t pass up on getting food.” I grinned.

“Would you like to come with me? We do need a lot so I could use the help.”

“Sure. I’ll get Maddox and I’ll meet you downstairs in five.” I kissed her and she smiled before heading downstairs.

I walked into Maddox’s room and I smiled when I saw him playing with some of his toys. “Hey buddy. We are going to the store so you can play with your toys some more later ok?”

“Ok daddy.” He walked over to me and I picked him up. We headed downstairs where Saige was waiting for us.

“Did you have any trouble waking him up?”

“I don’t think he slept much since he was playing when I got to his room.” My wife sighed.

“Someone is going to bed extra early tonight.” Maddox sometimes gave us trouble when it came to bed.

“Yeah, that would be a good idea baby.” We then walked to the car and got Maddox in his car seat and I let Saige this time.

Saige’s POV

I drove to the store and I felt happy despite all the sadness that was hanging around. I just kept reminding myself that life had to go on without Jimmy.

I parked the car and Matt got Maddox out of his car seat and we headed into the store. I am really hoping no fans approach us but it was always a possibility these days. I got us a cart and we got Maddox seated in the front of it.

I loved when we got to do simple things like grocery shopping as a family. Maddox was amused when Matt pushed the cart around and went fast and then slow down the aisles. My heart melts every time I see how happy Matt is to be a father.

I got everything we needed for the family dinner and I quickly glanced at the magazines that were by the tills. I picked up the celebrity gossip magazine and from time to time I saw a picture of Matt and me with or without the kids.

“Why do you like those magazines so much?” Matt playfully bumped my hip and let out a small laugh.

“I don’t know I guess I am just curious that’s all.” I flipped through the magazine and spotted a few pictures of Benji with Quinn and Sophie. I was still mad at her for being such a stupid bitch and I can’t believe Benji is now engaged to her. “I still hate the fact that Sophie is with Benji. He could do way better.”

Matt looked over at me as I was still reading the magazine and made a face when he saw Quinn being subjected to the paparazzi. “I wish those stupid fuckers would stop taking pictures of Quinn and of us.” I must admit Matt did look sexy when he got angered over the paparazzi.

“Yeah, I agree darling. I hated that they used to follow me around when I lived in LA but thankfully we have been lucky these days.” I put the magazine away and ran my hand along my husband’s tattooed arm.

We then paid for our groceries and Maddox fell asleep once we started driving back home. I grinned as I took our sleepy son out of the car. Matt grabbed the bags and we walked inside the house.

I took Maddox to the play area we set up in the main living room and he quickly woke up. I kissed his head. “Mommy and daddy will be back soon.” He smiled at me and he looked so much like Matt. From time to time I called him mini Matt and I could only imagine how much he will be like my husband when he is older.

I helped Matt unload all the groceries in the kitchen and I started to get supper on the go and it would take some time. Our family was growing with the other guys getting married and having kids of their own. I was happy to see Lauren who was expecting Brian’s first child and her halfway through her pregnancy.

Zack and Kate recently got married but they were opting to wait to have kids. But I knew it would happen sooner or later.

Johnny just started dating a new woman and I have only met her a few times. Her name was Teagan and she was shyer and reserved compared to the other wives but I knew she would open eventually. I hope she would come to the dinner but at the same, I knew it must be overwhelming for her. Johnny made it official with Teagan a couple weeks before Jimmy passed away.

As far as my sister was concerned she decided to move back to LA but she was keeping her salon open in Huntington Beach. I visit her a couple times a week but she rarely comes to the house. She is becoming more distant and it hurts because I enjoy any time I can get with her these days. But at the same time I don't blame her and she will grieve Jimmy's death in the best ways she can.

After a couple hours, I got the food going in the kitchen and I got Matt to help me set the table in our dining area. I am thankful we have a huge space for entertaining and these days we needed all the room we could get.

I felt Matt’s arms sneak around my waist. “The food smells amazing baby. Everyone is going to appreciate the effort you put in.”

I pressed my body against Matt and then I slowly turned around in his arms. “Thanks. I am honestly looking forward to seeing everyone.” I leaned up and pressed my lips against Matt’s.

Matt ran his hands along my sides and slowly pulled away from our kiss. “I really appreciate how strong you have been lately and all the effort you have put in.”

“I don’t mind at all. I want to be here for everyone during this difficult time and nothing is better than home cooking.” I smiled.

“You are right, baby. Brian texted me a few minutes ago so they should be here in about an hour.”

“Sounds good by then all the food should be ready.”

While Matt and I waited for the others to arrive we shared some wine and relaxed. Maddox was his energetic self and running all over the living room. It was priceless and I got Matt to record some his shenanigans.
