God Damn

The last few weeks have been busy with working on the new album which has been difficult for all of us. But at the same it also allowing us to grieve Jimmy but also to continue what we all passionate about. Saige’s contributions have been amazing and I am happy she was on board with helping us out.

After a long day at the studio I finally arrived home and it was nice to finally be home. I walked into the house and the lights were still on. Saige always waited up for me on the days when she was not at the studio with me. I slipped off my shoes and walked further inside and looked around for Saige. I went to the deck where she usually hung out on nice nights once the kids were in bed.

I smiled when I saw her sitting by the pool drinking a glass of wine. I slowly opened the door so I wouldn’t scare my wife. Her head turned and she smiled over at me.

“Hey darling. How did recording go today?”

“It went alright but I’m happy to be home.” I leaned down and kissed Saige and ran my hand over her cheek. I then sat down beside her and ran my hand over her thigh.

“Tomorrow is a new day baby and plus tomorrow I’ll be there with you guys.” I smiled at that and Saige always knew how to cheer me up.

“Your right. How was your day?”

“My day felt hectic as fuck. The kids were arguing in the store when I had to get groceries and once we got home Maddox would not go down for nap. Quinn was giving me attitude all day and kept saying she wanted to see Benji.” I saw how tired Saige looked and I could see why she was nursing the wine.

“Babe you could have called me. The guys would have understood if you needed my help.”

“Matt it’s fine. I can’t expect you to drop everything when I have troubles with the kids. But how Quinn was acting hurt more than it should have.” I saw tears come to my wife’s eyes and I reached over and wiped them away.

“I can imagine how you feel darling. Did it take you long to get the kids to sleep?”

“No and I’m glad because I was just about ready to call you when I finally got them down.”

“I know it’s late but do you want take a dip in the pool? It might help you relax.”
“That sounds perfect, Matty.” She took another sip from her wine and put the glass back on the table.

I stood up and stripped out of my shorts, boxers and shirt. The best part about our house was the amazing privacy and what was better than skinny dipping in your own pool. Saige quickly stripped out of her clothes and we got into the pool.

The water was still warm and after today the water felt amazing and I smiled over my wife who swam over to me.

“You seriously read my mind in what I needed after the kind I had.”

“Well if I didn’t know your needs by this point in our marriage I’d be the worst husband.” I chuckled.

“Smart ass.” Saige grinned and pulled me closer and connected our lips.

“You love it.” I smirked as I pulled away from the kiss.

“You know it baby.” She then kissed me again and we swam around the pool a bit.

After a while we went back inside and I went to grab a shower. After a few minutes, I heard Saige come into the bathroom. “You going to join me?”

Saige got into the shower with me and I like how spacious it was for the both us. We rarely showered together these days but I liked these moments with her. I felt her run her hands along my back. She kissed my shoulders and I relaxed from her simple touches. “I love you Matty and I should have asked for your help today.”

I turned around and looked at my wife and ran my hands down her arms. “I love you too, Saige. Don’t worry about it the main thing is we both got through the day. Let’s forget about it and enjoy tonight.” I leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips.

We finished up our shower and got dried off. I didn’t bother putting on any clothes since I usually slept naked and Saige usually just wore a tank top or one of my tee-shirts. I got under the covers in the bed. Saige finally joined me in bed and I pulled her close to me.

“Thanks for making me feel better baby.” Saige ran her hand along my chest and looked into my eyes.

“Your welcome and you made my stressful day end once I got home.” I pressed my lips against Saige’s.

“Love you, Matt.”

“Love you too, darling.” We kissed once more and it did not take long for both of us to fall into much needed sleep.

The next morning, I woke up and Saige was no longer in bed. I checked my phone and it was just after 8 am. I slowly got out of bed and put on some shorts and didn’t bother with a shirt. I went to the bathroom and then headed downstairs. I heard a bunch of noise and I saw Saige trying to catch up to Maddox and he ran into my legs. I picked him up “are you giving mommy a hard a time?”

“I don’t want to get dressed.”

Saige saw me and I could tell the morning routine was off to a rough start. “Morning baby.”

“I was just about to come and get you. The kids are not listening to me this morning and Maddox refuses to let me get him ready.”

“I’ll take of him and you go look after Quinn.” I leaned down and kissed her lips. I then took Maddox to his room to get dressed. “You promise you are going to be a good boy for grandparents today?”

“Yes daddy.” He was getting to that age that he would act out for no reason and Saige seemed to be taking the brunt of his actions lately when I was not around.

“Okay now let’s get you dressed buddy.” I managed to get him dressed and he ran away.

“Maddox be careful on the stairs!” I quickly caught up to him and picked him up before he got to the stairs. The last thing I wanted was by son to hurt himself and I carried him back downstairs. I then put him down.

We went to the kitchen where Saige was getting breakfast ready for the kids and for us. Maddox surprisingly sat at the table with Quinn.

“You alright babe?” I walked beside my wife and ran a hand along her back.

“Yeah the kids just would not listen to me this morning. They have been awake since before 6 but I wanted to let you sleep since today will be busy.”

“I appreciate that but you could have woken me up.”

“I know but it’s okay now that you are up and can help me. Let’s eat and then you can get showered and I’ll drop the kids off at your parents place while you get ready.”

“Sounds good.” I kissed her cheek and she smiled. I joined the kids at the table and they appeared to be calmer. I helped Maddox with getting his food all ready and Quinn had no troubles. I ate my own breakfast and enjoyed my morning coffee that Saige always prepares perfectly.
“I’ll see you in about a half an hour.” Saige kissed my lips.

“Alright darling. Quinn and Maddox please be good for grandma and grandpa ok?”

Quinn spoke up “We will daddy.” I hoped Maddox would say calm along with Quinn. I kissed their cheeks and they both gave me a hug and I watched them live with Saige.

I quickly walked back up to the bedroom and got showered and dressed for the day. I wanted to stay comfortable so I put a pair of shorts and one of my many band tee shirts. I threw on a hoodie as well and grabbed my wallet and keys.

I walked into the kitchen and cleaned up the breakfast dishes and loaded the dishwasher. I then slipped on my sneakers as Saige was coming back in the house.

“Well this morning was definitely eventful.” She chuckled.

“Yeah it was something. I texted the guys and told them we would be at the studio within the hour.”

“Ok. I’m ready to go if you are.”

“Let’s head out.” I took Saige’s hand in mine and I locked up the house and went to my truck

As we were driving Saige suggested we get coffee and I agreed. After this morning, I think both of us could use the extra kick before we get into the studio. We then arrived at the studio and I followed behind my wife.

“Morning guys.” Saige called out and everyone came over to us and she hugged them. “Sorry we are running slow this morning. The kids were giving us utter hell.” I grinned at my wife and the guys understood.

“Don’t sweat it Saige. I’ll be in your guys position soon once Lauren has the baby.” Brian would make a great dad and Lauren settled him down since they have been together.

“Let’s get this going.” I looked over at Saige and she went into the vocal booth to lay down her backup vocals for the songs we wrote together.

“That sounded great.” Zacky smiled over at Saige and so did I.

I then joined her in the booth as we sang together and it felt amazing to share this moment with her. I grabbed her hand as we finished up our combined vocals.

“That was sounded amazing baby.” Saige smiled and it was nice to see her happy.

“Thanks, sweetheart.” She pecked my lips and we walked over to the couch and relaxed. For the rest of the day we finished up Saige’s vocals and she dozed off on the couch.

I ran my hand over her cheek. “Wake up darling.” She yawned and rubbed her eyes.

“How long was I out?”

“A couple of hours but you seemed like you really needed that.” I helped her off the couch.

“Yeah I definitely needed that nap.” She grinned. “Today went well and I’m happy the guys liked how the vocals turned out.”

“You did great today.” I smiled. “I called my parents and they will drop the kids off tomorrow. You and I can sleep in since I don’t have to come into the studio tomorrow.”

“That sounds lovely.” We then said goodbye to the guys and drove the distance back to Huntington Beach.
