Living Life As Unconventional As Possible

Saige's POV

I was pleased when Benji finally got back to me about meeting up with him in LA. He was about to start a new tour with Good Charlotte so I would rather discuss our situation before he will be gone for the next few months.

Matt offered to drive us to LA and I was happy about that since my morning sickness was starting to occur in the daytime as well. I was nervous about meeting up with Benji he would now find out that Matt and I are in a new relationship and I am not sure how he will take it. The sound of the front door opening drew me out of my thoughts and I heard Matt’s voice.

“Babe I’m here.” I smiled and was thankful Matt could take some time away from his work to come with me.

I grabbed my purse and keys in my room and quickly walked to the front of the house and greeted Matt. I wrapped my arms around his waist and placed a kiss on his lips. “Thanks again for being able to come with me today.”

“I don’t mind Saige.” He smiled. “All ready to go?”

“Yeah let’s go before I talk myself out of it.” I let out a nervous laugh and felt myself blush a bit which was not hard to do around Matt these days. We haven’t slept together again since the party because we have both been pretty busy. But when we finally get some time I know it will be worth the wait.

We walked to Matt’s car and I got in the passenger seat and tried to keep myself relaxed and not focus on the sick feeling I had in my stomach. Once Matt started to drive I relaxed a bit when placed his free hand on my knee. We picked some awesome music and battled the traffic into LA. We ended up having to make a couple stops since I had to pee and get sick which made the drive even longer.

Benji asked me if I would not mind coming to his house, which was no longer ours. At first, I thought it might not be a good idea but at the same time it would be more private and that way we would not be stalked by the paparazzi.

As we reached Benji’s place I felt more nervous than before we left and I took a couple deep breaths and looked over at Matt.

He could tell how nervous I was and leaned over and kissed my cheek. “I know me telling you to relax won’t help much but whatever happens we will deal with it together.”

“Your right.” I connected our lips in a small kiss and got out of the car and waited for Matt and we walked up to the front entrance. I felt Matt’s hand on the small of my back and it was a simple gesture but it was very comforting. I knocked and it did not take long for Benji to answer the door.

Benji looked surprised when he had seen Matt with me. “Hey guys how was the drive?” He stepped aside and we walked inside the house.

“It was not too bad except Saige was not feeling the best.”

“Yeah, my morning sickness is stretching into daytime sickness too, so long drives are rough.” I let out a bit of a nervous laugh.

“Well I’m happy you made effort to come to LA despite feeling shitty.” Benji smiled and it made me realize how much I missed him as friend. But at the same time, I had to move on from what we shared and enjoy my new relationship with Matt.

Benji ushered us to the living room and we all sat down and stayed close to Matt and I knew I had some explaining to do. I wanted this to go smoothly but I felt awkward because I did not know how to start a conversation about the current situation.

I was relieved when Benji started the conversation but unsure what he was going to say. “So first off. I take it you guys are a thing now?” I was surprised at the question and felt a blush come to my cheek from the way Benji spoke about us. I looked over at Matt and then back over at Benji.

“Yes, we are. But listen Benji I did not come here to talk about my love life with you. Matt is here as a support system for me.” I knew standing my ground with Benji was important and something I did not do enough when we were married.

“I understand Saige. I’ve done a lot of thinking since you told me your pregnant and I’m happy we made this baby together. But I’m going to be very busy with the band over the next year that I’m not sure I can be there for you and the baby like I should be. I am not ready to be a dad just yet.”

I listened to what Benji was saying and I felt tears come to my eyes and took one of Matt’s hands in mine. “Are you staying you don’t want to be a part of our baby’s life? That your band and public image is more important.” I felt anger build up inside of me and I wanted to scream so damn loud.

“I’ll make sure financially that you have enough for the baby.” I let go of Matt’s hand and stood up.

“How could you do this to me. After everything you have already put me through Benj.” I felt the tears fall down my cheeks.

“I need some air. I’ll be in touch and I hope for fuck sake’s you regret this decision!” I ran out of the house and stood by car. I was not expecting Benji to do this to me but it shows that he was not the right man for me. I waited for Matt and I knew he was not going to leave without talking to Benji.

Matt’s POV

I could not believe the way Benji spoke to Saige and how he wanted to be an absent father. I never expected him to act this way and how bad he upset Saige. Benji and I have been good friends over the years but this situation will put some strain on our friendship.

“Man, you upset Saige pretty fucking bad. She has been through a lot with the divorce and now she has to deal with an unexpected pregnancy.”

“Well what’s done is done.” I watched the reaction on Benji’s face and I knew he must feel some regret.

“I suggest you think hard about your decision to not be a father to the baby you helped conceive. For now, I’m stepping up and I’ll be there for Saige since you obviously don’t give a fuck.” I knew I left Benji speechless and if had issues with me stepping up to replace him he knew where to find me. I walked away from Benji before I would make a horrible mistake and I quickly walked outside to where Saige was.

“Are you okay?” I wrapped my arms around Saige and kissed her cheek.

“I can’t believe him!” Saige had all rights to angry but I would do my best to calm her down.

“I talked to him after you left and I told him I would step up and be the father he clearly does not want to be.” I ran my hand over Saige’s back.

“Matty are you sure? I don’t expect you to take the dad role since our relationship is still so new.”

“Like I said to you before I am going to be here for you in any way I can. I want make your baby has a father figure even if I’m not the biological one.” I was falling hard for Saige and I wanted to show her just how much she means to me. I know we are both not ready to be parents I want to do my best to be her supporting partner.

“That means so much to me.” She ran her hand over my arm and kissed me and it made me happy knowing she could count on me.

“Let’s get out of here. How about we spend the day looking around before we need to head back to home?”

“That sounds good babe.” She smiled and it was so nice to see her smile after everything she had just gone through. I wanted to get her mind off the hurt that Benji caused her and that no matter how busy my band got I would be there for her in the best ways I could.

We got back in my car and we drove around the busy streets of LA and grabbed some food. I took Saige shopping and she picked a few things out for herself. On the drive, back to Huntington Beach, it was quiet and Saige was asleep. I looked over at her with a smile on my face and I have not felt this happy with another woman as I have with Saige. Once we arrived back home I took her to my place and carried her inside. I took her to my room and laid her down on the bed and laid a blanket over her body. I kissed her cheek and spoke softly in her ear, “Goodnight darling.”

I then went back downstairs since I was not quite ready for sleep. I had a couple beer and thought what being a father could be like. A few hours later I joined Saige in my bed and wrapped my arms around her before sleep took over.

I do love Benji and I've met him and he is an awesome guy but for drama he is not the greatest guy towards Saige in my story. I hope everyone enjoys my version of Matt :) I'll posting another update in the next day or so.
