Living Life As Unconventional As Possible

Saige's POV

It was nice to finally have Quinn home and get settled into a routine with all her needs. Matt and I are doing well all things considered and especially being first time parents. Matt’s parents have been amazing and watched her a few times over the last month so we could get some sleep in.

Avenged Sevenfold was going to have to go back on tour soon but I knew that was a reality when we got together. I know Matt wanted to be home if he could before the band needed to get back on the road. They would be doing some festivals first and then would be doing a world tour after that. But this time around I decided that I would join Matt on the road because I was in fear of what Sophie what could do.

Matt and I decided that we should get married before Avenged Sevenfold would be back on the road. We felt there was no point in having a super long engagement and I wanted to be Matt’s regardless and time would not change that. I did not tell Benji we were getting married when I told him about Quinn’s birth. I felt he should know so Matt and I decided to give him a call together.

I put Quinn down for her afternoon nap and then walked to our room and Matt was sitting on the bed. “Hey babe.” He turned off the TV and looked over at me and smiled.

“Hey Saige. I take it you had no troubles getting Quinn to fall asleep.”

“Not at all she was out like a light.” I sat beside Matt on the bed and cuddled his side.

“Shall we give Benji a call and let him know about the wedding?”

“Yeah sure.” Matt reached over to table by the bed and grabbed his phone and I scrolled through his contacts and found Benji’s number and put it on speaker. It was nerve wrecking when we told him about being together and of course about Quinn. But this was on a whole new level. He deserved to know that I would no longer be a Madden but that I was soon to be a Sanders.

“Hey, Matt, how are things with Saige?”

“Good man. I am actually with Saige and we have you on speaker.”

“Right on. What’s up?”

I decided to speak and looked over at Matt with a nervous smile on my face and I bit my bottom lip.

“Hey Benj, the reason Matt and I are calling is let you know we are getting married.” I took Matt’s hand in mine and I did not know what kind of reaction he would have.

“Well congratulations are in order.” We could sense some indifference in his voice and I knew this would not be easy news for him to hear.

“We are getting married next week. I meant to let you know earlier but with the birth of Quinn it just got pushed aside.”

I could sense that was not what he wanted to hear but he was going to have to accept that I’ve moved on.

“I get that Saige.”

Matt and I discussed who would be invited to our wedding and since it was small we wanted to have all our good friends and family there. I decided that Benji was welcome to come to the wedding or just the reception if he wanted to.

“Your welcome to come to ceremony or the after party if you want. We are having the wedding on the beach and then we are going to just have a big party at the house.” I was glad Matt spoke up.

“Thanks for the invite. I’ll definitely make it there for the party.”

“Awesome. See you at the Benj.” We then ended the call and I gave Matt’s hand a squeeze.

“That went over a lot easier than I thought it would. I wonder if he will bring a date because he must be seeing someone else by now.” I felt relieved and Matt knew how hard that was for me.

“Yeah if he does bring someone do you think it will be weird?”

“Probably awkward for sure. But I’ve moved on so he deserves to as well.” I am trying to be positive and not hold a grudge for what Benji did to me in the past.

“That makes sense but I’m sure he will be cool since this time he won’t be around just you and me.” I nodded and Matt made a good point. “Since we got Quinn asleep. How about you grab the baby monitor and we go downstairs and we can jam.” I smiled.

“I’d love that. I love when you sing for me.” I grinned and grabbed Quinn’s baby monitor off the bedside table and I offered Matt my hand and led him downstairs to the studio in the basement. I like these simple ways we find ways to make our time together fun and I always love to do music jamming with Matt. It was especially fun when I got to do some backup vocals on their new album. It was cute to watch Matt singing to Quinn and made my heart asbsolutely melt.

We each grabbed one of Matt’s guitar and I strummed out some simple chords but I could not play as good Brian, Zacky or Matt but I had fun regardless. I stopped playing when Matt started to play Dear God. It watched him play it acoustically and hearing his voice made me melt and I felt tears come to my eyes and knew he wrote the song for me. I listened to it a lot when he was on tour.
Quinn’s cries interrupted our couple time but that’s usually the way it was especially at night. “I’ll go tend to her.” I smiled and waited patiently for Matt and casually played on the guitar.

I smiled when Matt came back down with Quinn in his arms and I put the guitar back on the stand and took her in my arms. “Want to hear daddy sing mommy’s favorite Avenged Sevenfold song?” she cooed and it was heartwarming and Matt started singing a different song this time. He started singing Seize the Day which was one of many favorite songs and Quinn cooed at Matt. When Matt was finished singing he came closer to us and kissed my lips and placed a soft kiss on Quinn’s forehead.

“I hope Quinn is as musical as we are.” I smiled at.

“Me too darling.” Matt then took her in his arms and moved around with her as I picked up the guitar again and started singing some my own music. I did a little of writing and I helped Matt out when he first started Avenged but he was much better at writing then I was. I stuck to writing fiction which one of my greatest passions on top of my family.

I could not wait to marry Matt in two weeks and it was going to be one of the best moments of my life besides the birth of Quinn and when Matt told me he loved me.

For the rest of the day we spent hanging out as a family and jamming to our favorite songs and Quinn stayed calm for the entire day. I made sure to take some pictures of Matt with Quinn and he was such a proud father, even though Quinn was not biologically his. By the end of the day Matt fell asleep with Quinn cuddled on his chest. I quickly ran to get my camera and I took a couple pictures of them.

Even though I spent so many years with Benji I always thought about what it would have been like if I stayed with Matt. He always kept me safe in High School and made sure the other guys did not give me a hard time. Then once his band started touring and I was so proud of him and I missed out on so much of that when I was with Good Charlotte. But now I have the chance to make up for all those years we spent apart but I am happy he never gave up on me. I’m glad I decided to move back to Huntington Beach, which will always be my home and LA could never feel that way to me.

Now I am in count down mode until Matt I get married and I have the perfect dress picked out and I know it will be such a great moment for us. Nothing is going to ruin this since I waited way too long to feel this happy and content in my life.
