Confession of a King

twenty nine

I was staying at Chelsea’s house for the last week since Behemoth broke into my apartment. The guys were unsure as to how exactly he figured out where I lived, but they were positive that the same matte-black BMW that I saw earlier in the day belonged to Behemoth himself, and probably purchased it to be incognito as one of Avenged. Christ had been staying in my apartment rather than his usual place of inhabitance, and hadn't seen anything else out of the ordinary happen. Lucky for me, Brian and Christ cleaned up and disposed of Shadow’s body so that I would never have to see my dismembered kitten again. My heart was aching over the whole event, and I was honestly scared. I was scared now that Behemoth was going to win, and I was scared that I was in harms way. Matt, on the other hand, seemed focused. He was furious, and he was also becoming way more dominant and aggressive with the situation, and was ready to fight if need be. He tried his best to make me feel comforted… make me feel that things were going to be alright, and whenever he talked to me I felt safe, but the minute I was alone, boy did I not feel safe anymore.

Today was that special day that I was finally going to go back to the prison, the first time in a month, and see Matt. My large, growing and swollen stomach was not going to be easy to hide, and quite frankly, I didn’t plan on hiding it. Now that Mr. Morgan was aware that I was pregnant, I felt that it wasn’t necessary for me to conceal my stomach. Maybe the other guards would be offended by seeing me like that, but I didn’t care about their opinions. I didn’t care about anyone in that damned place, except Matt and Jimmy. I knew I wouldn’t have time to see Jimmy today, plus Leana was probably coming in… I would have to make a call to him soon to schedule our own separate time, but first I’d need to run that by Matt.

I looked at myself in the mirror in Chelsea’s bathroom, finishing up my last coat of mascara. They were right when they said that you were glowing while pregnant, my skin was flawless and my hair was growing at an extreme pace. It was past half-way down my back at this point, and I had just gotten a trim last month. I didn’t really need to put any makeup on, but I wanted to look my best. After the small amount of eyeliner and mascara, I added a quick touch of bronzer and blush, then some gloss on my lips. I pulled my hair out of the braid it was in, letting the subtle waves fall down my back. I felt good about myself. I exited the bathroom and went into Chelsea’s guest room, pulling on a pair of jeans and a plain, white v-neck top. I threw a gray cardigan on top and slipped on a pair of sandals, then made my way into the living room.

“You look good, Ivy,” Zacky said with a half-smile, looking up at me from the couch.

I blushed, “Thank you. I’m so used to seeing myself in sweats now… I feel really good about myself.”

“You could probably show up covered in dog shit and Shadows would still drool over you,” he added and then diverted his eyes back to the television. He had been staying at Chelsea’s during the day when she wasn’t around. Brian stayed here every night. I knew things were tough for them, but I appreciated it. “I’m going to stay here until Chelsea gets home. I trust that you can get to the prison and back safely, and plus, I really like this episode of SVU.”

With an eye-roll I laughed, “Absolutely. I’ll call you if anything out of the ordinary happens.”

Zacky just nodded and continued to watch the television. I grabbed my purse and water bottle, then headed out the door. The best part about living with Chelsea was that I didn’t have to walk through a parking lot to get to my car, it was just parked in the driveway. Her parents had purchased her a small home as her college graduation present, so she never really had to worry about gang lords or their minions watching her and attacking her in a full lot of cars. I envied the way her parents cared about her and meeting her needs. I was lucky for all the sacrifices my mom made for me to go to college. I was lucky she paid for college, but to be honest, I would rather her had made me pay it my own way if it meant she would stand by my side through this pregnancy thing. I missed my mom. I even missed my brother.

I sighed while starting up my engine and talked to my belly, “Please don’t follow in your daddy’s footsteps. I want whoever ends up dating you to be able to bring you home to mom and dad.”

The drive to the prison was a little longer from Chelsea’s house than it was from my apartment. Pregnancy hormones had the upper hand throughout the whole ride, as I drove worrying to myself that Matt wasn’t going to find me attractive anymore with this big belly. It was growing exponentially, at least to me. Being five foot two and six months pregnant wasn’t exactly the world’s sexiest look. It took some calming down of myself once I pulled into my old parking space. Some deep breaths and chugs of water. Then I was ready to step out of the car.

Just stepping out and feeling the air around the prison was enough for me to feel a tinge of emotion. I walked in the front doors and frowned when I noticed that it wasn’t Sandy at the front desk, it was Ken. I was hoping it would be an easy “welcome back and see your boyfriend,” but we can’t always get what we want, can we?

“Ivy,” Ken said with a sarcastic laugh. “And what are you doing showing up on visitation day?”

“I’m here to see Matthew Sanders,” I said firmly, keeping my face as blank as possible.

“Shadows got moved to McKenna and no longer needs your services,” Ken answered with a snarl.

“I’m no longer working here and therefore that doesn’t apply to me,” I smiled at the asshole officer in front of me. “Now, if you could let me sign in and bring me where I need to go, I’d appreciate it.”

“This is a load of bullshit,” Ken muttered and handed me the visitor sign-in sheet. “What’s he paying you to come in here and keep him company?”

“Not a cent,” I smirked and handed the clipboard back to Ken.

Ken got up from the desk and groaned, leading me down the hallway toward the room, “He’s restrained while you’re in there with him.”

“He’s not restrained when he has his one-on-one’s with his lawyer,” I added, following behind him.

“He isn’t fucking his lawyer,” Ken turned and eyed me, looking for my response. I didn’t respond and he smirked, “Right in here.” He opened a door and showed me to a room that had multiple tables and chairs, “He’ll be in shortly.”

Other inmates were sitting at tables with their visitors for the day, talking amongst one another. I knew that I wouldn’t get the same treatment as Brian, seeing as the visitation day he has with Matt is in it’s own, concealed room, since they’re talking about private information. There were guards in here, scattered amongst the place. I just hoped they would give me the benefit of the doubt, and not try to listen in on whatever Matt and I had to say to each other. We had two hours maximum together, and I wanted to cherish that time. I looked down at my phone, seeing that it was a little past eleven and that I had an unread text message from Zacky on it.

“Ivy,” the voice that I had been longing to connect a face to spoke from beside me.

I lifted my head to connect with hazel eyes and smiled. He was handcuffed, but that was the only restraint. I threw my arms around him and gave him a hug, “God, I’ve missed you.”

“I missed you too, baby,” he said softly, resting his head on top of mine. I pulled away and stared into his eyes, longing to kiss him, but knew I couldn’t. He diverted his eyes from mine and looked down at my belly, a smile creeping across his face. His dimples were deep, “You’re huge.”

I frowned and sat back down in my seat, him sitting across from me. “Thanks,” I grumbled out.

“I love it. You look beautiful,” he added. “Your next appointment is in two weeks?”

I nodded and smiled, his positivity radiating off of him, “My appointments are going to start getting closer in time. Since we’re pretty much in the third trimester, they want to monitor closely to ensure that all is well.”

“Did you bring the…?”

“Here,” I pulled the folder out of my bag and placed it on the table. It was a photo from my last ultrasound. Matt looked astonished, staring at the photo, his jaw pretty much on the floor. I laughed, “He had no issues with showing his penis off. Must be genetic.”

Matt smirked, “I’m sure he’ll be a ladies man.”

“If he’s anything like his daddy, I can guarantee it,” I stared Matt in the eyes and licked over my lips. He looked gorgeous. The late-spring sun had coated him in the slightest tan, bringing out the green specks in his eyes even more, and his hair had even lightened a bit. He had cut it, it wasn’t as fluffy, but it wasn’t buzzed.

Matt laughed, “Stop staring at me. Freak.”

“Sorry,” I blushed and let go of my bottom lip that I had been gnawing on. “You look good.”

“I can tell. You’re staring at me like you want to eat me.”

“Maybe it’s because I do.”

He chuckled, his dimples deepening and his eyes darkening, “Don’t do this to me. I can’t walk out of here and go beat off. I have to go see that bitch afterwards.”

“Speaking of her!” I was finally out of my sexy-baby-daddy trance. “How are things going?”

Matt shrugged, “They’re going… I guess. I don’t say much.”

“Matt,” I groaned and he rolled his eyes. “Don’t roll your eyes. I told you, you need to make a good impression with her. She’s your ticket out.”

“I’m getting out no matter what,” he re-assured me.

I shook my head, “I don’t trust that they won’t try to ding you for mentally unstable. You really need to be on your best fucking behavior in this place and talk to her like you’re an open book, Matthew. So help me god if you get hit with mentally unstable and are stuck in here…”

“Okay, okay…” he sighed. “I’ll try to be more… talkative?” He gave me a half smile, “She doesn’t really pry the way you did, either. She just kind of sits there and stares at me.”

“Don’t care. Talk to her,” I scoffed.

“I said okay, Ivy,” he glared.

“I know you did, Matthew. I was just reiterating my point,” I glared back. He laughed and I smiled, “I guess we need to talk about the whole situation.”

“You’re going to follow my commands with this and only do as I say. If Gates tells you to do something and it corresponds with my commands, you do it. He’s my second in command and the one that you will answer to outside of me, understand?” Matt spoke quietly, but the force in his voice was coming through strong.

I nodded, “So if Vengeance or Christ tell me to do something…?”

“You only listen to them if you are in the direct line of fire and in danger. Otherwise, you pick up the phone and you call me instantly and get my view on the matter. It’s not that I don’t trust them to make the right decision, I just feel better knowing that Gates and I can always guarantee your safety.” Matt sighed, “You’ve been staying with Chelsea?”

“Yes, but I'm worried that they will figure that out eventually. I’m sure that they had seen her coming in and out of my apartment at some point. Did we ever figure out how he found my exact apartment?”

“Someone was watching your every move, baby,” Matt said with a frown. “He’s been taken out since, but I agree that they have too much information on Chelsea. I would like to keep her out of harms way, too, seeing as she is your best friend and Gates’ woman. Therefore, I think that the best thing for you to do is to move into my territory.”

“Excuse me?” My eyes widened, “Matt, I cannot move in with them.”

“You can and you will,” he said sternly. “They are moving your belongings as we speak. A letter has been drafted to your landlord stating that you will pay for next months rent and that is it. I have attached the payment to the letter so that he does not need to contact you.”

My jaw dropped. He had gone behind my back and done all this, “You can’t just take control like that!”

He gave me another half-smile, sensing that I was not happy about his decision making. “I’m doing what is best for you and our son. You will always be safe, and when you must leave the house you will be escorted or at least tailed. You’ll be staying in my room. There is a gun in the drawer to the right of the bed if need be. You will have free range in the house to eat what you want, do what you want, for the most part. Brian will explain the layout of the house to you, where you can go, where you cannot go. I will continue to give you a thousand a week, but if need be, there is a safe behind the headboard that I can give you the code to for any big money, but you need to give me a reason for that.”

“I can’t believe this…”

“You can’t fight me on it, honey. You’re living there until I get out. My room is big enough for you to turn a portion if it into the nursery. He’ll be one month old when we get our own place. You can start looking at homes on the market now, if you would like. Find the place of your dreams. We’ll move there and you won’t feel nearly as controlled.” He stared me in my eyes, “But for the time being, this is the plan and I don’t give a fuck if you don’t agree with it.”
