Confession of a King

thirty

My eyes nearly popped out of my head when Brian pulled up to Avenged’s headquarters, the house they all shared together. It was a beautiful, massive mansion that was only accessible via a gated entry, each of them having a key-fob to let them in. It wasn’t only stone fronted, the entire place was made out of greyscale stone, a nearly black roof sat atop it. There was a matching five-car garage next to the house, at the end of the driveway, adjacent to the two-car garage that was built into the house. I would’ve been lying if I said that the place didn’t take my breath away. I shut my eyes, trying to shut my brain up from wandering to how the hell they had made that much money in the gang world to have such a lavish home.

I stopped looking out the window at the beautiful landscape when Brian’s voice spoke, “Time for the tour.”

We both stepped out of the car when he pulled it into a spot in the two-car garage. I looked at the vehicle next to his, a matte-black Jeep, “Who drives the Jeep?”

“You do,” Brian laughed. “Your keys are in Shadows room. This is your new baby.”

My jaw dropped, “Holy shit.”

“I hope you got all the belongings out of the old one because Christ was going to torch it,” he smiled and elbowed me lightly when I nodded, still staring at the beauty that was my vehicle. “You will park in here with me. Vengeance, Christ and Shadows vehicles are in the other garage, along with our bikes.”

“Does he drive the same car as you guys, too?” I asked out of curiosity, always wanting to know. Brian shook his head and I pursed my lips, “What’s he drive?”

“Same as you. That’s why he requested it,” he smirked. “Now let me show you inside.”

The inside of the house was just as magnificent as the outside. The floors were wood, a deep cherry, contrasting with the gray walls. I followed Brian as he led me down the hallway to another door, unlocking it with a key this time and stepping into the ginormous living room. There was a huge fireplace on the far wall, a TV that had to be around 80 inches wide overtop of it. There were a couple of large, black leather couches in the room, and even a couple big bean bags. There was a black rug on the floor, covering the beautiful wooden boards underneath. The walls had various abstract artwork scattered amongst them.

“Your home is fucking incredible,” I muttered, looking around and then meeting Brian’s chocolate eyes. “I would’ve never guessed that you guys lived like this.”

He smirked, “What? Did you think we would live like a bunch of scavenges? We’ve got expensive taste. Just wait till you see your man’s room.”

We continued through the house as he gave me the grand tour. The hall bathroom was fucking marble. The kitchen was spotless and looked like something that Gordon Ramsey would go crazy over. The refrigerator didn’t even look like a refrigerator. How do you even go about that? The pantry had every snack you could ever imagine. These boys lived like kings. I couldn’t even imagine how stripped Matt must feel living in a literal concrete box when he was like royalty in this place. Brian stopped at a door that was adjacent to the tall, curved staircase in the foyer by the front door. He turned and looked at me with a frown and I stared back at him, puzzled.

“This door remains closed at all times,” he stated while pointing at the front door. “We never use this door, and if it is opened an alarm goes off. Understand?” I nodded and he smiled, “Good, and then this door,” he grabbed the knob to the mystery door in front of us, “Is only opened by our keys, not yours. You will never go down here. You have no need to go down here. You will never know what happens down here. Any snooping and things won’t be pretty.”

My lip quivered, knowing what was probably hiding down there. I knew that they had taken hostages, and that obviously, somewhere in this beautiful building were all of the secrets and things that kept Avenged on top. I just nodded and swallowed the spit building in my throat, letting out a sigh of relief when Brian linked his arm in mine and escorted me up the stairs.

“There is a hall bathroom up here, right next to the laundry room,” Brian pointed at doors as we walked. “Each of us have our own bathroom attached to our rooms, though. So we really only use that one if we are doing laundry.”

“I cannot imagine what your bills are,” I laughed and followed him closely.

He chuckled, “You don’t want to know. Now, first door on the right is Vengeance’s room, next is Christ. The one across the hall right there is the other guest room, not to be confused with the one on the first floor. Then it’s my room.” He led us down the hallway, more abstract art scattered the walls. There was a door at the end of the hallway and he paused, “Welcome home, Ivy.”

A key was placed in my hand and he smiled at me, then walked away. I stared at the door in front of me. It was further down the hall than the rest of their rooms; way more secluded. The door was black, a gold death bat was bolted to the top of it. I put my key in the lock and turned it, my jaw dropping for the millionth time today. Matt’s room was breathtaking. The walls were jet black, an even better contrast with those beautiful, cherry floors. The bed was a cali-king, with a black frame and headboard. The comforter was dark, blood red, with black sheets underneath, an array of black and red pillows on top. All of the furniture in the room matched the bed. I dropped my purse on the bed and wandered around the room. There was another huge television across from the bed. The walk-in closet was the size of my bedroom in the apartment, half of it filled with my belongings and the other half Matt’s. I made it to the bathroom to see a walk-through shower, large tub, and more marble. The guys did good with putting all of my belongings in here. The things that were not considered “essentials” i.e. my furniture and stuff that I didn’t need, was placed in storage.

I turned the bathroom light out and made my way back into the bedroom, kicking my shoes off and flopping into the bed that felt like a cloud. I pulled my phone from my purse and dialed Matt’s number, reaching for the remote to turn on the television, too.

“Hello,” Matt’s gruff voice spoke smoothly over the phone.

“How come you never mentioned that you lived like a king?” I laughed, flipping through the channels.

I heard him chuckle quietly on the phone, “I take it you like the place?”

“It’s fucking beautiful, and the car is incredible,” I sighed out. “But I still don’t want to live here. I don’t want to live with them.”

“I don’t care,” he said flatly. “This is what is best for you and it’s too late to change anything now. Christ is going to be taking your phone later this evening, too. Don’t fight him on it. You will get a new one that is no longer in your name. It would be smart of you to write down any numbers you would like to keep on the new phone.”

I frowned, “What if my family tries to get in contact with me?”

“Both of your safety is more important than your ignorant family reaching out to you,” Matt snapped. “You can give them your new number. Do not try to argue.”

“I’m not arguing, you controlling prick,” I snapped back. “Does it occur to you that I feel like my whole world is being flipped upside down, Matt? Everything I’ve ever known has been stripped away from me.”

“You are so fucking lucky that I can’t get loud from inside my cell, Ivy,” he hissed into the phone, venom slipping from his tongue with every word. “I am not risking you getting killed. I don’t give a fuck about you having a normal life right now. I know what is best for you. Now stop stressing over things you can’t control. It’s not good for the baby.”

Tears started to fall from my eyes and I threw my head back into the mess of pillows, “I’m sorry. I am just frustrated and hormonal. I’m thankful for all of this, I really am.”

Matt sighed from the other side of the line, “Take a bath and try to relax, baby. Vengeance was going to pick up dinner so make sure you place your order to him. Things are going to get easier, I promise.”

“How many months until you’re in the real world with me?” I wiped my eyes.

“Less than four,” I could hear the smile in his voice. “Text me before bed. I love you.”

“I love you too,” I smiled to myself while hanging up the phone.

I opened the text message from Zacky, asking what I would want if he picked up Chinese for dinner. I replied quickly then rid myself of my clothing, starting up the tub, making sure to only make the water just warm enough. It was safe for you to take baths while pregnant, but if the water was too hot it could do some damage to the baby and possibly even cause a miscarriage. My doctor told me I was far enough along now where that wouldn’t happen, but I was still cautious nonetheless. I slowly slipped my body into the tub, resting my head on the tile behind me, placing my hands on my stomach. I felt a small kick and smiled, whispering to the little boy in my belly that I couldn’t wait to meet him.

It felt good to relax in warm water, especially in a tub that was big enough to probably hold Matt and I comfortably. Thoughts of having him in this tub with me entered my mind, my cheeks heating up and the temperature in my lower-region following in suit. The walk-through shower would be perfect for shower sex, especially with the doors open, you could see right into the mirror. My thoughts were pushed to the back of my mind when I thought of something different. My face dropped into a scowl. How many other women had been in this tub with him? That shower? That bed? I hated the thought of anyone else having him inside of them, or having his arms around them. I shook my head and stepped out of the tub, pulling the plug and grabbing a black, fluffy towel and wrapping it around my body.

I dropped the towel and stood in front of the mirror, taking in my entire appearance. Matt was so quick to flirt with me from the beginning, always throwing out sexual remarks and suggestive gestures. Obviously he thought I was attractive from the day we met, but I could only imagine what the other women he had been with looked like. Being a man with so much power, so much money, and actually being drop-dead gorgeous, I’m sure some of the most beautiful women in the world threw themselves at him. I’m sure that they had perfect bodies, nice hair, nice skin. I looked at my swollen stomach, sighing with a smile as tears cascaded down my face. Matt’s job sucked, but I felt lucky to have him and his son.

A knock at the bedroom door pulled me from my thoughts, and I wrapped the towel around myself once more. I creaked the door open to see Brian’s face, “Vengeance just came home with dinner if you’d like to join us downstairs.”

“Be down in a few,” I replied and closed the door as he walked away. I opened up the closet, pulling open a drawer on my side and grabbing a pair of underwear and sweatpants, then grabbed one of Matt’s shirts that he probably hadn’t worn in years. It still had a scent that I imagined was something he doused himself in daily. It suited him.

I pulled my hair down from the messy bun it was in, letting the waves from earlier in the day cascade down my back once again, and placed my hand on the doorknob to walk out. “Make the best of it, Ivy,” I muttered to myself before joining my new roommates for dinner.
