Secrets I Have Held In My Heart

You Deserve This

Robyn

I let out a low groan as I heard a loud knock on my bedroom door. “Go away,” I groaned, shoving my face into the pillow. I wasn’t ready to be up, but that didn’t stop Matt from entering my room. Not one bit.

“Rise and Shine, beautiful. We have a big day ahead of us.” He chuckled as he ripped my blankets off of my bed, I lifted my head to see that it was only nine in the morning.

“What the hell Matt,” I whined, kicking my legs against the bed. I was by no means a morning person. I didn’t like being up before at least eleven, and that was because my daughter wouldn’t wait any longer for me to get up.

“Get up sleepy head,” he said, grabbing me by my ankles and pulling me toward the foot of the bed.

“What the hell are you doing?” I said, finally giving up. I stood up and rubbed my eyes, my makeup smeared around my eyes and my hair a tangled mess.

“Get cleaned up, I’ll have coffee ready for you, we’re going shopping,” I stared at him completely baffled. Shopping? Before I could even ask him what the hell he was thinking, He made sure to evacuate the room. I let an irritated huff escape my mouth and threw my blankets back onto my bed.

Walking over to my closet, I stared at it, deciding on a simple mint green dress, and a pair of powder pink flats, I began to brush my hair, wincing as it caught on the knots and tangles. Throwing it into a quick braid, I grabbed my phone off the charger and made my way down the steps with a yawn. As soon as I was awake enough, I was going to kick Matt in his ass.

“You look beautiful,” I heard his voice before I could see him, but that’s how his house was, If you were in the kitchen, You could see people before they could see you. I blushed slightly at his compliment, “Well thank you,” I said, walking into the kitchen to see him dressed and pouring me a cup of coffee. “You know that once I’m awake enough, you’re dead right?” I told him, folding my arms over my chest.

“Oh no, you won’t. You couldn’t hurt me even if you tried,” he said, teasing me as he handed me a cup of coffee. I took a sip of it, loving the warm feeling that the dark caffeinated liquid sent through my body.

“What do you mean by ‘we’re going shopping’?” I questioned, staring up at him, waiting impatiently for an answer. I hoped he didn’t mean spending money on me. I didn’t want to spend his money. In fact, I hated spending other people’s money. I think it was because Brian was so stingy with his, and the fact that I grew up poor.

“I’m going to spoil you,” he said, shrugging his shoulders as he took a sip of his coffee. I looked at him with wide eyes.

“What, no. Matt, you don’t need to do that,” I said, instantly protesting. I didn’t want him to do that. I would feel horrible. “You really don’t need to do that, I promise. I don’t need you to buy me anything.” I looked at him with pleading eyes, but he just gave me a devious smile. I had a feeling I wasn’t going win this fight.

“I know that Brian never spoiled you. Hell, he never got you anything for mother's day, and he never did anything for you on your anniversary. I am spoiling you. You deserve it Robyn. Just let me do this for you, Please?” He begged, giving me a pouty lip and puppy dog eyes.

That wasn’t even fair. He wasn’t allowed to do that. Guys don’t do that.

“Oh come on Matt,” I whined, “you’re not playing fair. How can I say no to that?” I gestured to him, his sad look quickly turning into a bright smile. His dimples showing, it absolutely killed me.

“Pretty please?”

I let out a sigh before finally caving into his wishes. “Fine” I muttered, glaring at him. A huge smile spread across his face and he clapped his hands together like he had something evil planned out.

“Let's get started then, shall we?” He snickered. Before I even had the chance to react, he grabbed my hand and started pulling me to the front door. “We’ll be back Bella!” He yelled to his dog, which made me laugh. I shook my head and followed him out of the door, making sure to close it behind me.

“So where are we going first?” I asked him curiously.

“The shopping district,” He informed me as he held the car door open for me. “Once we get there, it’s your choice. Home is not an option either.” He said, knowing me well enough to know that I would say ‘let’s go home’ as soon as we got there because I didn’t want him to spend money on me.

So he was taking me to the most expensive place in Huntington Beach. Great. He was expecting me to spend his money, and apparently, we weren’t going home until I did. Hopefully, he didn’t decide to go to Beverly Hills and really spoil me. I would probably have a heart attack if he did that.

Putting my sunglasses on, I looked over at him as he pulled out of the driveway and shot down the road. “So, why are you doing this?” I asked with my lips pursed. I didn’t want him to spend money on me or feel like he was obligated to spend money on me. It wasn’t fair to him.

“Because you deserve it, Robyn. After everything that Brian has put you through, you deserve to be spoiled to the world’s end,” he explained.

I chewed on my lip and looked out the window. There were a few things that I could use, but I didn’t want him to buy them for me. I had a job. I was making my money. I didn’t have a hard time spending money if it was my own, but I knew how this spree was going to go. After every five items put in the cart, I was going to look at him and ask him ‘are you sure this is okay? I don’t want to spend your money’. I knew that was exactly what was going to happen. The first store was Michael's, a craft store. A horrible idea on his part.

“Matt, I swear, we don’t have to do this. Art supplies are expensive like really expensive.” I spoke, looking into his eyes as I bit my lip.

“Look, Robyn. I want to spoil you. Just let me do this. Please?” He said, looking at me with those beautiful hazel eyes.

“Fine. But just know, once I finally get comfortable, you’re going to regret this decision,” I said as I got out of the car.

“If that ends up being the case, then you can just make it up to me later,” he said, winking at me. I rolled my eyes and walked into the store. Every time I made a stop in here, my heart stopped. I loved craft stores. It was one of my favorite places to be. Matt knew that. He knew this would get me to loosen up if I bought what I needed for my studio first.

This was going to be so much fun.

EEEEEEEEEE! She said yes! Yay! I still want to slap this Brian into next week -_-

This is getting good! But man Brain is a jerk! I hope he soon realizes that he's the bad guy. I still can't see him and Matt being friends if he hates Robyn.
