On Tour

Not This Way

Sarah O'Nolly's face was as red as a ripe tomato. "Fuck you! You cheap tramp!" As if in trance, Karma could only stand and stare as Sarah repeatedly slapped her face. That woman really knew how to hit. Karma knew it was only just, seeing as she did sleep with her boyfriend.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?" Matt screamed, pulling her away from Karma and getting kicked in the groin in the process. "FUCK, SARAH!" he groaned in pain as he dropped down to his knees. His facial expression was plain pain. "And you?" her shriek voice sounded as she turned to face him, "defending that ugly bitch? Are you fucking her? You're so fucking her. I'll claw her fucking eyeballs out!"

The dumbfounded look on his face gave away almost everything. Luckily, the guys probably interpreted it as a shock from that attack, rather than from her telling the truth. "Come on, seriously?" Matt's hands grabbed her wrists forcefully to keep her away from Karma, who watched in horror as Sarah kicked him again, much harder this time, and tried to get her hands free. She spat at him.

"Ew? What the fuck, Sarah?" Yeah, what the fuck Sarah.

"Fuck that bitch!" she screamed, finally freeing her hands from Matt's grip with one more kick. He sunk down into a fetal position. "I can't feel my limbs, guys," he moaned. "FUCK THAT BITCH" Sarah shrieked again, and Karma replied with a sardonic grin, "he might just do that again. But not today, seeing as you practically dismembered him."

The guys' jaws dropped. Sarah's did, too. "A hundred points to Karma," Jimmy said approvingly. He slapped on her back. "Though you could have told us! Too drunk my ass," Brian added with a chuckle. Yeah, about that, Brian... I'm fucking him regularly, she thought with a smug grin.

Sarah was still too surprised from her response. Matt used the chance to grab her again, mainly to protect his bandmates. "Sarah, you know something happened that night. You said you're letting go. So if you could please do that. It was a one time thing!" Liar. And how does she successfully ignore the fact that he picks up girls all the time? Does she never use the fucking internet or something? Or does she just not believe those stories? What a pathetic fucking bitch.

Karma knew she should be feeling bad, but somehow she could barely suppress a chuckle. The sex was amazing. Sarah was such a bitch anyway. Karma didn't get why Matt was with her. In her eyes, there was nothing above the average about her, but maybe... Jimmy always said psychos were animals in bed, maybe that was true about Sarah.

It wasn't that she was jealous. Sarah had nothing she wanted. She told herself she didn't want Matt, either, but deep down she realized it was a lie, at least to a certain degree. Hell knew she wasn't in love with him, but she would certainly give it a go under other circumstances. They'd always had this tension, maybe it would have led somewhere. Would have.

Sarah started throwing some more insults at her, but in this moment, she couldn't care less. It finally sunk in.

She had half a man, Matt had two women. More even.

That was the situation, and she didn't like it. Karma didn't want to be ready for his call whenever he felt like it, just to play the good friend that regretted their drunken night as much as he did mere hours later, at least not to his girlfriend. The guys were a different story, they couldn't know about their relation. But to know she was to remain quiet so he could fuck someone else was a new low.

To be frank, she didn't think about all that in the nights before, but now that Sarah was here, the penny dropped. Finally. How could I have been so plain dumb? Karma wondered as she turned away so she wouldn't have to face Matt, not after that realization. Actually, not ever again would be the best. But that is no option.

Dan escorted Sarah outside, and a strange feeling remained. Karma didn't know how much the guys suspected, but at this point, she was too shaken up to care. They went onto the stage minutes later, leaving only Matt and Karma behind.

"I have, like, ten seconds," he whispered as he leaned down, but Karma turned away. It was hard to deny him a kiss when she wanted it so much. "Looks like we can't talk tonight,." he said, ignoring the fact that she was acting strange, maybe just for the sake of the show.

"Or ever," she replied, not even bothering to hide the bitterness in her voice, "whatever we had is over."

Matt threw her a look she couldn't quite construe. He remained quiet and walked on the stage. A few seconds later, the organ intro to Critical Acclaim sounded, the beginning of their very worst show ever.

--

Karma's head was pounding. The light coming in from the outside was blinding, which immediately worsened the pain as her eyes opened just for her to press them shut again. She mentally cursed herself for forgetting to close the curtains in her drunk state yesterday. She was at some hotel in Nevada, not that she cared.

The show was horrible. It had been their worst show so far. The crowd didn't notice, or at least Karma hoped so. Matt and she didn't harmonize at all. Usually, they joked around and took over each other's parts, but the day before, they just rattled out their parts like on the CDs, slowly making their way through the show song by song.

And then - sweet nothingness. They'd just drowned their sorrow in Jim Beam. No-one dared ask what was wrong with their frontman and frontwoman this time. Karma knew they were trying the guys' patience ever since it happened, and they desperately needed to get back to that old form, and soon.

Of course, Karma didn't only drink because the show was so bad. It was over, officially, their nonexistent thing that consisted of nothing more than three nights together. And although she was going to see him frequently, every day if she liked, Karma knew she was going to miss him. At least in that way.

Was it something? She did not dare think about it. And since it was over, she did not have to, either. Everything was one giant "bucket full of shit," as Jimmy phrased it the day before.

God, Jimmy. Karma grew anxious at the thought of their show in Long Beach that night, which was going to be turned into a live DVD. They owed it to the guys. They needed to make a good show. Of course, they owed it to the fans, too. To each and every one of them. Every single night.

Suddenly, Karma knew what to do. It was a stupid idea, but she needed to do it. She slipped on her bathrobe and walked out the room, but returned after a few seconds. She needed to make sure he wouldn't be led on when she came to talk. After all, a woman coming to a man's room in a bathrobe sent out the wrong signal, even if she just broke up with him.

Can you break up with someone you've never been with?

Karma put on gray sweatpants and a wide hoodie, purposely hiding her shape. You could never be too sure, could you? With Matt, definitely not. With her heart pounding like crazy, she knocked at Matt's door, prepared for everything, yet nothing at all.

"Room service?" his voice sounded weak from inside. Oh shit. It hit Karma like a gleaming needle. He ordered room service? That had to mean... Sarah was inside. And they'd probably... reconciled. She turned around quickly, ready to leave, when the knob was turned. The sound made her freeze. "Karma?"

"Yeah," she said as she faced him with a nervous fake laugh, "surprise, it's me." What she saw startled her.

Wait, what the hell is wrong?

I'm so glad you sticked with me until the end, and it makes me even happier to hear you liked the ending even though it was not so happy (or in your case, Lady Revenge, the entire story. God you're a quick reader!!). But that's how I wanted to begin my sequel :)
Much love to you my friends :)

Another great story my friend! Oh I feel bad for Karma though at the same time she kinda brought it onto herself in a way at the end. Going to start reading the sequel now. :)
