A Lifeless Dream

I was trying to open my eyes but they refused to open up. I felt a bright light falling upon my eyes and I could feel them hurting. I blocked the light with my hand and opened my eyes. I succeeded it but when I opened my eyes I felt my head pounding, it was like someone was hitting me with a tone of bricks.

'Oh fucking hangover' I murmured to myself and massaged my temples. I sat on the couch that I slept on last night and tried to remember where I was. That only made my head pound even more. I stood up and tried to hear any sound so I could find a living person in this house.

I examined the living room for a moment. Bottles of beer where covering the coffee table and some were lying on the floor. I drank a lot last night that explains the hangover. I wasn't much of a drinker back home so it was pretty easy for me to get wasted.

I heard moving coming from where I assumed was the kitchen. I slowly stepped in and found a really cheerful Jimmy making breakfast and a really tired Brian asleep on the kitchen table. I chuckled to myself and that got Jimmy's attention. He turned and looked at me with a huge smile on his face.

That's when I remembered. Brian and I got here because he wanted me to meet Jimmy. Yeah everything is clear now my memory is back. Jimmy chasing a spider...dancing on the couches and singing. I remembered the coffee table which was covered with beers... Wow I thought even for three people we drank a lot.

"Morning sunshine" Jimmy said snapping me out of my thoughts and turned his attention back to the frying pan that was in the oven and by the sound of it I understood that something was being fried. I guess it was pancakes.

"Morning Jimmy" I said while walking to the table and sat on a chair.

"What are you making?" I was starving and what Jimmy was cooking smelled so awesome.

"Pancakes they may be a little burned but you know" he shrugged and let a small chuckle escaped his lips.

"I am so hungry I could eat anything plus my head is killing me" I rested my elbows on the table and placed my head in my hands massaging my temples wishing the pain would go away.

"Here take this" Jimmy said and placed an aspirin and a glass of water in front of me. I took it immediately. I couldn't stand the headache anymore.

"Thanks Jimmy you are a life saver" I slightly smiled to him.

He flashed me a smile while looking at me over his shoulder. I took a glance at Brian who was still asleep. His hands were crossed over the table and his head rested on his hands. His lips were slightly parted and you could hear a light snoring coming from his mouth. I felt a smile making his appearance on my face. He looked cute.

"What's up with him?" I pointed my finger to Brian.

"I guess he didn't like the couch or any of the beds. I woke up and found him here. I tried to wake him up but my plan failed" he chuckled and then an evil thought crossed my mind.

"Hey Jimmy I think is time to wake him up" I said and an evil smirk made his appearance on my face.

Jimmy who was now finished making breakfast gave me a nod of approval. I nodded back before I turned to walk towards Brian's sleeping figure. When I was standing above him I stopped to look at Jimmy who was grinning like a five year old. I turned my head to look at Brian and then I did it.

"Brian wake up there is a huge spider on your back" I said screaming on top of my lugs.

Brian woke up and went flying to the floor letting a scream escaped his mouth while doing it. Me and Jimmy couldn't hold back. We broke down laughing. I laughed so hard my belly was hurting. Brian was still on the floor looking confused as hell. When he realized what had happened he stood up.

"You evil motherfuckers" he said while straightened his shirt.

"It was all her idea don't blame me" Jimmy was still laughing and pointed at me.

"Traitor" I gave him a glare.

"Oh god you're turning into a female Jimmy and you only know him for a day" Brian said and make a fake terrified face.

"The horror" Jimmy said dramatically and I broke down laughing once more.

"Oh now you gonna get it" Brian said and lifted me from the ground carrying me to his shoulder.

"Bri what are you doing?"

"Getting revenge."

Before I could understand what was he doing I felt the cool water from Jimmy's pool surrounding my body. I managed to get my head out of the water and took a deep breath. I saw Brian and Jimmy laughing...oh Jimmy is so your turn.

"You fucker, do you want to kill me?" I said trying to sound angry but eventually I let my lips form a smile on my face.

"Payback is a bitch honey" he said a big smirk on his face. Jimmy was still laughing.

"Jimmy stop laughing and come help me" I said like I was pouting.

Jimmy came to help me but the moment I touched his hand I pulled him in with me. Brian was sitting at the edge of the pool laughing. I got out really quick and pushed him in too before I jumped back in.

The moment we all got our head out of the water I started giggling.

"I think you are right Brian, payback is a real bitch" I mocked him and then a water fight started.

After 20 minutes of water fight we were exhausted so we got out of the pool and Jimmy handed us a towel to dry ourselves.

"Alicia why don't you change and give me your clothes to put them in the dryer? You can borrow some of my clothes" Jimmy said with a smile on his face his ocean blue eyes glowing.

I turned my head and took a glance at Brian. He was laying on the grass his hands behind his head shirtless. I know I shouldn't but I was so checking him out...I mean look at him. Conception Alicia, he has a girlfriend and you are not ready for any kind of relationship especially with Brian.

I snapped out of my thoughts and followed Jimmy into the house and upstairs. He opened the door to reveal a huge bedroom with a huge bed in it and of course clothes lying on the floor. Boy’s room I thought.

He opened his closet and got out a black t-shirt and some... women shorts?

"Ehmm Jimmy not mean to be rude but why do you have women shorts in your closet?" I asked him while raising an eyebrow.

"Oh that... Well my sister spent the night here last week and forgot them here. What kind of thought crossed your sick mind?" he said and laughed his insane laugh.

"Nothing of course...it was just weird" I playfully hit his arm.

"Yeah like I believe that..." I just stuck out my tongue to him and he chuckled.

"You can change here I will be downstairs with Brian. You can use the bathroom if you want it's the last door down the hall" he flashed me a smile and I nodded.

He opened the door and exited the room. I stripped down on my clothes and put Jimmy’s on, well and his sisters too, to cover my almost naked body. I was wearing underwear but still. I picked my clothes from the floor, exited the room and went straight to the bathroom. I looked like hell, I fixed my hair and smacked make up and got out.

"Jimmy where is the laundry room?" I had to dry my clothes.

"Second door to your left" He yelled from downstairs.

I turned and opened the second door to my left but instead of a laundry room I found a small music room with a piano in the center of it. I was tempted to go and play, I’ve had to play the piano a few years. I didn’t know if I still remembered how to play. I was so caught up with photography that I forgot my love about music.

I decided that Jimmy wouldn't mind and I took a sit to the piano stool. My delicate fingers took their place on the piano keys and I hesitantly started to play the familiar tune from a song that my mum used to play for me when I was upset. I was surprised that I still remembered how to play.

I felt emotions rushing thought me but I hold them back. Memories filled my mind from when I was like 5 or 6. My mum used to play piano so she was the one that taught me to play. We used to sit for hours practicing and even when I was messing a lot she never yelled at me. She always told me not to be worried and that eventually I would get that right.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realize Brian was sitting in the doorway staring at me. I froze and remove my fingers from the piano keys. He just smiled and came towards me.

"I didn't know you could play" he was leaning against the piano his arms crossed over his chest.

"Yeah I’ve had to play for a couple of years...sorry you have to hear that I probably killed it" I said a little uneasy I was embarrassed. I’ve never liked people watching me play.

"Don't be. You're really good" he gave me an assuring smile.

Then he came and sat next to me. I could feel his warm body close to me. His arm was slightly brushing over mine but even with a small touch I could feel it burn on my skin. He turned to look at me and I try to smile in order to hide that I was uncomfortable.

He took the book with the songs and started flipping pages. When he found the one that he was looking for he took the book and placed it on the piano self.

"Here try this" he pointed to the song I looked at the song title...Warmness of the soul...hmm sounds interesting.

Once more I placed my fingers on the piano keys and started playing the song. Suddenly I heard something that I didn't expect. Brian was singing the song while I was playing. His wonderful deep voice filled the room it was like I couldn't hear what I was playing. I could only hear his voice.

I heard his voice slowly fading and I guessed the song ended so I stopped playing. He turned to look at me and our eyes locked for a moment. I tried to turn my head but I felt his warm hand over mine which made me to look at him again. I hadn’t noticed how beautiful his eyes were before. They might be an ordinary colour but there was something in them that made them special.

I saw him leaning to me and I knew what was coming. I didn't know what to do I was frozen at my place not able to move. He was so close I could feel his hot breath against my lips and my breath became heavy .Was he going to kiss me? Was I going to kiss him? I didn't know but something in me wanted me to. I knew it was wrong, I knew I shouldn't do it.

I started leaning too my eyes never leaving his. The moment seemed to last an eternity. His lips were almost against mine but before they could go any further and touched we heard moving from the hall way.

We snapped our heads and Brian got up the moment Jimmy entered the room. I was hoping he didn't understand anything. He looked at us for a moment and then spoke.

"What were you two doing up here?" he was looking between me and Brian...Oh god!

"I came to find her and she was playing the piano and I watched her play. You should hear her, she is really good" Brian spoke and pointed to me.

Jimmy looked surprised. I turned to look at him and smiled. I felt so uncomfortable I mean I almost kissed Brian and now Jimmy was in the room and I couldn't even managed to say a word. How nice is that? I saw Jimmy moving towards me and standing next to Brian by the piano.

"Play something. I wanna hear you" ugh...I knew it.

It wasn't that I didn't want to play but I didn't like to play in front of people. It was making me nervous. The only person that didn't make me feel that way was my mum. I was always able to play in front of her. Her face came to my mind and I started playing leaving the unnecessary thought out of my head.

I was playing one of the songs I wrote when I was sixteen. I remembered that I had written that song when my first boyfriend dumped me. I know stupid reason but back then it seemed like a pretty big deal but I liked the song, it was the first song I've ever written it was my baby.

"Wow that was really good" Jimmy said when the song was finished.

"Told you" Brian said mutter of fact.

"Thanks guys...but no more for today" I said while standing up picking my clothes from the floor.

"Hear give me I will put them in the dryer you two go down I have ordered pizza. Pancakes were cold and burned" I laughed and Jimmy walked out of the room leaving me and Brian alone.

"Look I'm sorry for before you know" Brian said and frown.

"Don't worry about it really" I said and gave him a smile to light up the mood.

I didn't want things to be awkward. He was my friend even thought I knew him for only a week. I wanted things to be good between us so I thought it was for the best if we forget about that and move on. In the end nothing happened.

"Great I didn't want things to be awkward" he left a sigh of relief and smiled.

"Let's go downstairs" he said and nodded his head to the door.

He started walking out and I followed him. Jimmy was already down with a pizza in his hands. We sat on the sofa and Jimmy placed the pizza on the coffee table that was now empty from the beer bottles. I heard my phone ringing and I picked it up.

"Hello?" no answer...

"Who is it?" again so answer...I shrugged and close it.

I took a slice from the pizza and join the guys that they were talking about music so I joined the conversation. I must say I had a lot of fun with them. We kept telling jokes and laughing all night. I could use to that I thought before I started to laugh with one of Jimmy’s jokes.
