Playing With Fire

16: I Wish You Were a Beer

“Baker! Hey!” I hear as soon as I walk through Matt’s front door, Brian at my tail. I look over and see Clayton, CJ’s brother, waving me over. He held a bottle of cheap vodka in one hand and a beer in the other. I grin, knowing even if Cailey isn’t here, at lease a piece of her is.

“How you doin’ bud? I’ve seen you’ve been hanging out with my sister a lot, you’re not getting too cozy, are you?” Clayton drunken says in my ear. “You still playing baseball next semester? We oughta go out to the batting cages soon!” He continues. I nod, not objecting.

I was excited for baseball season. It was the one time I got to even remotely fit in with the popular jocks. If Avenged complete fails, I’ll go to college on a baseball scholarship instead. Become pro one day. Dreams can come true, right?

I walk into the kitchen, Brian still not too far behind me. I grab a plastic cup and pour myself the usual, JD and coke. Brian grabs a beer out of the fridge.

He opens the can as he begins to speak. “I didn’t know you were buddies with Clayton.”

I snicker. “Yeah, me either.” I take a sip of my drink. “I normally see him in passing at CJ’s house,” I explain further. Brian takes a big gulp of his beer, already almost halfway done.

“Speaking of CJ, how are you guys?” I give him a puzzled look, and he understands me without speaking. “I mean, still friends?”

I wasn’t sure what to say. Why would he be asking that? “Uh, yeah...why wouldn’t we be?” Brian’s eyes darted back and forth.

“I don’t know, Matt told me he thought she was talking to some guy from Ventura. That’s why they broke up I guess,” he said casually before taking another sip. Huh? Guy? From Ventura? How? Why wouldn’t she tell me if we were best friends, like she said we were? How would she see him? She doesn’t even have a car.

“I don’t think I believe that,” I took a drink. “Sounds like Matt was just looking for an out for their breakup.” Brian crooks his head to the side, agreeing slightly. Brian’s eyes light up as soon as I feel someone walk up behind me.

“Hey Zack, hey Bri. I want you guys to meet someone!” Val excitedly speaks behind me, grabbing another female and pulling her into my view. “This is my sister Michelle! I forced her to come out and socialize for once in her life. Play nice with her while I go find Matt? Thanks!” she leaves before Brian and I could refuse.

The girl was a spitting image of Val, just with dark hair. They had the same facial features and they were the same height. She smiled shyly at both Brian and I, but averted her attention to Brian almost immediately. I shrugged and walked away to go socialize on my own.

I wandered for a while before I decided to go outside on the back porch. I slouched in the chair and looked around, appreciating the silence. Only a few other people were on the other side of the yard, smoking a joint and giggling softly.

“Hey…” I heard a soft voice walking towards me. I see a familiar face. Not a friendly face.

Her dark hair was up in a loose bun and she was wearing jeans and thin sweatshirt. One thing she was lacking was a bra.

“Autumn,” I spoke frankly. She stood a few feet in front of me.

“Is this seat taken?” she gestured to the chair across from me.

“Unless Casper is sitting there, no. It’s not,” I gritted my teeth. Don’t feel like being around this crazy bitch. She sat down slowly and crossed her arms over her chest.

“It’s pretty crowded in there. Nice to get some fresh air,” Autumn tried to make conversation. I bit my cheek, anything to keep the peace.

“Can I help you with something, Autumn? Are you lost?” I bit back as I held my eyes closed. She fell silent.

“No. I’m not lost.”

“Then what do you want?” I barked at her. She sighed deeply. She adjusted her arms over her chest.

“Zack, listen,” she spoke softly. I snickered. I had done enough listening already. “I’m sorry, okay? The way I’ve acted in the past. It was unacceptable, and I know that now.”

“Oh, so you know it now but you didn’t know months ago? What happened within that time? A life changing experience? A coming to light experience, perhaps?” I hissed at her, not allowing her to get in a single word. “Give me a fucking break,” I rolled my eyes, pulling my cigarettes out of my pocket. Autumn sat there for a few moments before standing. She put a hand on her hip and brought out her attitude.

“Who knew you turned into such a bitter asshole after you and Cailey became best friends?” She threw her hands up in the air and began walking back towards the house. I put my cigarette to my lips. She dramatically turned back to me, just like typical Autumn. “I’ve done my part and apologized to you, Zack. All you can do is accept it and let it the fuck go.”

I lit my Marlboro and shooed her away. She stormed back into the house, letting the door slam behind her. I took a long drag of my cigarette, letting out a sigh of relief. Ahh, peace and quiet. No annoying Autumn.

The back door opened and shut. A silhouette appeared before me, setting a bottle of Jack Daniels and can of Coke on the table next to me. The moonlight barely lit the stranger’s face enough for me to see their sharp jawline and dimpled smile.

“Figured you might need that after that...that fucking mess,” Matt finally let out, sitting in the chair Autumn was in just a few minutes before. We laughed in unison. I drew in a breath of nicotine, letting in fill my lungs.

“Yeah, she’s a psycho. Who the hell invited her anyways?” I let the smoke out.

“She came with Val,” Matt sighed and leaned back in the chair. The moonlight was just bright enough to see him roll his eyes. “I never really cared for her after what she did to you, and because of what she’s said about CJ.” Cailey’s name caught my attention.

I finished my cigarette and stomped it on the ground. “She can say whatever she wants about me. She just better not let me hear her say anything about Cailey,” I spoke assertively, picking at my nail beds. Matt shifted uncomfortably and studied me.

“You really care about her, don’t you?”

“Well of course, she’s my best friend.”

“Cut the shit. You love her, everyone knows it,” his tone became more serious. “I see the way you look at her. And I see the way she looks at you,” he looked up at the stars briefly before continuing. “I always questioned her about it. Always asked why she didn’t look at me the way she looked at you.”

“What do you mean?”

Before Matt could answer, Val and Michelle came yelling out the backdoor, beckoning us for shots. Oh boy.

About thirty minutes and nine shots later, I was sitting on the steps, feeling like my body was there but my soul was not. I got up to go upstairs to Matt’s room, stumbling slightly. I felt a gentle hand on my back, another on my arm. I look over to see a blurry image of a dark haired female.

“C’mon, I’m just helping you. Everyone else is too drunk to notice you stumbling all over yourself.”

I let her help me up the stairs, into Matt’s room and onto his bed. She yanks my Converse off my feet and tosses them next to the bed. She disappears into the bathroom for a moment, and comes back out with a trash can, a glass of water, and two Advil.

“Sit up and take these, you’ll feel better in the morning.”

I gulp them down as she sits on the edge of the bed. She fiddles with the frays on her denim shorts.

“I’m sorry about what I said earlier. I tend to act on impulse, if you can’t tell,” she laughs lightly. “I didn’t mean it. I just miss you a lot. I miss everything about you,” she catches my gaze. Before I realize what’s happening, she’s leaning into me. And I’m too drunk to push her away.

I grab her hair and pull her into me. She thrilled by this, immediately throwing her leg over my waist. She straddles me and grinds her hips into mine, simultaneously shoving her tongue in my mouth. The thought disgusts sober me, but I’m not sober.

Before I could stop her, she taking off my t-shirt and her sweatshirt at the same time. I’m face to face with her bare chest and I can’t help but feel myself harden. She grins against my lips, feeling it too. I pull away and take one of her nipples into my mouth, flicking my tongue back and forth. She lets out a sigh full of pleasure.

My hands glide down her hips to her shorts and I unbutton them swiftly and push her underwear to the side. I let my finger tickle her clit before inserting my finger into her. I push one more finger in and she lets out a little moan. She jumps off me and pulls my jeans off. I instinctively get up and let her be on bottom. I’ll finish faster this way.

I position myself and slowly slip into her. She’s already soaking wet, which means she won’t last long either. She immediately starts moaning to the rhythm I had set. As I’m fucking her, I sober up and come to my senses. What the hell am I doing? I hate this girl laying under me. I feel embarrassment and disgust wash over me. I have to get this over with.

I start going faster and harder in an attempt to finish quicker so I can get the fuck out of here. Her moans intensify, almost too loud. I put my hand over her mouth, keeping her quiet and quickening her climax, knowing being dominated is her thing.

Within minutes, we’re both finished. I’m putting my jeans back on when her breathing has slowed to a reasonable pace.

“Zachary James, that was amazing. I missed that so much,” Autumn stretches her naked body as she smirks at me. I want to throw up all over her. I pull my t-shirt over my head and slip my shoes on. “Zack, where are you going?” I walk towards the door and slam it shut as I hear her screaming my name.

I march down the stairs, feeling the need to go home and take a shower. Now. I head for the front door.

“Hey, where you been?” Brian stops me as I pass through the living room. He sits on the couch with Val’s sister on his lap.

“Upstairs,” I stop before the door briefly. Brian smirks but before he can ask, I speak up again. “I’m gonna get going, I feel like shit.” I close the front door before he can object.

It starts to sprinkle as I begin my very first walk of shame.

YAY! FIIIIINALLY! Ceej and Zacky smashed their genitals together! *excited clappy hands* Is Zee only denying his feelings cos he doesn’t want to hurt Matt, or is honestly that oblivious?

Nooooo, Zacky! Don’t disappear! Why did he run out on CJ? Why isn’t he coming to school? :.( They’d be so cute together! Autumn needs to calm her damn farm. It’s not like CJ even knew. She can’t be getting pissy about something Cailey has no control over...
