Ella’s POV

I didn’t know how I was supposed to handle the situation, while guilt was still weighing me down, Jake seemed to be willing to forget everything, or that is what he was acting like.

After breakfast we didn’t really talk about what happened again. Jake had to call his friend and partner to let him know why he left work early on Friday, which made me feel even worse.

I didn’t want him to have trouble at work because of me, because of us.

“Why are you looking so sad, babe?” Jake sat down beside me on the couch. I breathed deeply in and out and put a small smile on my face.

“I am just… that you came home from work because of me… and what happened… I don’t want to get you in trouble, cause you cancelled on a customer” I looked down on my hands and Jake put his hands around mine.

“Look at me” He let his thumb run over my skin, and I looked up “I would come home, every single time… for you. No matter what… It was no big deal, alright. If there will be any trouble it has nothing to do with you.”

For the rest of the day we spend it together on our couch mostly, Jake went out to grab us some food in the evening, and then we fell asleep together. It almost felt like old times…

In the morning Jake’s phone was buzzing every now and then making me wonder who was trying to call and text him all the time.

“Damn it, he just won’t give up” Jake muttered under his breath and I saw I had two missed calls as well.

I checked my voicemail and cringed at hearing Liz voice over the phone “Don’t tell me you forgot again that we were supposed to meet today, Ella! Don’t cancel on me AGAIN, I haven’t seen you in weeks!” Liz voice didn’t sound too friendly.

The next message was not better “I’m at your place tomorrow by 6, you better be there!” I rolled my eyes and saw Jake looked at me. He looked conflicted and unsure, what was he thinking?

“Liz, she tried to call yesterday… we had planned to hang out this week, but I cancelled on her… and today she will show up here at six. I’m sorry” I tried to look innocent and Jake inhaled deeply like he was relieved.

“I have tons of text from Dan… wanting me to come over, he plans a small get together at his place…” Jake said but shook his head, “But I’d rather be home” He took a small step to me when I got up.

“Liz is coming over, no matter what I do, why don’t you meet up with Dan for a bit and I let you know when Liz is gone, so I pick you up?” I asked and Jake frowned “Liz is coming by six, so you will still be here, but we could bring you over together and when she leaves I will-” I started and Jake closed his eyes briefly then smiled when he looked at me again.

“No, it’s fine, I’ll let a cab to bring me there… and you call when Liz and you are done. That sounds good. Dan won’t stop writing messages, see” He held his phone up where just random letter were shown and in between the text YOU HAVE TO COME!

I smiled “See, you should better go, or he is standing at our door as well” Jake rolled his eyes but nodded then “You are probably right” He stepped closer and put a kiss on my lips “Though I would rather spend the evening together with you” He smirked and I giggled “Maybe I can get rid of Liz early and then when we have the rest of the evening together” I bit my lip and Jake chuckled “That sounds like an idea”

He pulled me closer and kissed me, his tongue slipping into my mouth and my belly fluttered, I shut every thought off and let my feelings roam free.

When he slowly pulled away he grinned “Come on, we still have some hours for ourselves, let’s get some air, head over to the grocery store, do some shopping and then we cook together, we haven’t done that in quite a while” He pulled on my arm and I stumbled against his chest.

“That sounds like a fabulous plan” I grinned and pecked his lips before quickly moving away to put my jacket and shoes on.

The morning and afternoon went by so quickly, it felt normal again, us shopping together, cooking, like nothing ever happened, but those little glances that Jake was giving me every now and then made me wonder if he was just acting or if he really thought it would be back to normal.

I didn’t think about Matt again, until now. He hadn’t written or called again, which probably meant he gave up. After being so persistent at first, after calling, sending a text only a little later, and now nothing…

Why I was thinking about this now, I didn’t know. It wasn’t like I really wanted to talk to him, or knew what I would tell him… and still he was in my thoughts again.
But that would stop! It had to stop…

The doorbell rang and Jake called he would open up. I heard her before I saw her “Jake, looking so fine? You did that all for me?” Liz teased Jake and I rolled my eyes, she was bad.
“Almost.. but sure whatever makes you happy” He shot back and I heard Liz chuckle, when she stepped into our living room.

“So, I got us some snacks, and a movie… I’m sorry Jake, it’s a chick flick.” Liz looked not really sorry at Jake and he waved off “No problem, I’ll be leaving in a bit anyway…”

“Oh, so in the end it wasn’t for me, that is really hurtful, Jake! And Ella how can you let your man leave this mouthwatering without you?” Liz looked at me critical and I shrugged “I trust him” I said without hesitation and only a moment later cringed.

Thank god, no one noticed that and Liz gave Jake and me an update on her job and what happened in her life during those last weeks we haven’t seen each other, in between Jake excused himself, kissing me goodbye and I told him I would pick him up, as soon as Liz left.

When Liz asked me what was going on I really thought about telling her everything, but then again… I realized I shouldn’t. Liz was my friend yes, a very close friend but… telling her about the problems I caused, with… Matt, that wasn’t something I really wanted to discuss with her, or anyone for that matter, afraid of the reaction.

During the first 30 minutes of the movie her phone started to ring, she ignored it at first, but when it started again right away, she sighed and I stopped the movie for her to pick up.

“What? You know I’m at Ella-” She started talking right away, probably her husband on the line, “What? Okay, I’m on my way”

She put the phone away and stood “Liz? Is everything okay?” I tapped her shoulder and she began shaking her head “I don’t know… It was Dave, he said I had to come home quickly.” She grabbed her bag and took a few steps to the door “Liz? What happened?!”

She looked at me “I don’t know yet, he said something with my brother… I need to go, I’m sorry” She slipped into her jacket and I wanted to put mine on as well “I will drive you” But Liz shook her head “No no no, I’m okay really. I’ll see what happened and call you later, I promise” With that she was out of the door before I could say anything back.

I closed the door and sighed, so that meeting went over quickly and I hoped everything was okay and nothing bad had happened. I went back to the living room and put away the snacks and drinks.

Just when I was about to grab my phone to send a text to Jake, that I was able to pick him up already the doorbell rang.

Who would be here by now, either Jake was already home and forgot his key, or maybe Liz had forgotten something. I looked around, but didn’t see anything, so when I opened the door and someone completely different was standing there I was a little shocked.
Matt’s POV
I was almost at the door when Brian caught up to me “Wait wait wait” He grabbed my arm and pulled me back “What the hell are you doing?”

I turned to him with an annoyed look “What do you think? I’m calling in some favors and visit her, this is my chance” I took another step towards the door, when Brian pulled me back again.

“Dude, no. That’s not a good idea…” Brian said and shook his head at me, but I didn’t wanna hear him. I wanted to find out what was going on and wanted to hear it from the source.

I wanted Ella to tell me she didn’t wanna see me anymore, and I would be over it. But I had to hear those words, then she could be happy with the guy… whatever.

“I’m leaving, Haner. I need to hear it from her.” I said and he sighed and nodded “Then, I’m coming with you.” He let go of my arm and we both walked out, Brian ordered a cab while I called in the favor I needed via message.

When the cab stopped beside us, I had the address that I needed. It took us only a few minutes. “You aint gonna come with me, that’s clear, right?”
Brian rolled his eyes “You want to let me stand here in the cold?”

“You wanted to tag along, don’t blame me.” I headed in and rang the doorbell not really caring what Brian planned to do, when the door opened a perplexed but gorgeous as ever looking Ella stood before me.

“Matt” Ella said on a surprised whisper and I gave her a weak smile.
“Hey” I looked inside to try and show her that I needed to talk to her.

She began shaking her head, but I interrupted her before she could really speak and dismiss me “Just for a second, Ella… Please” She closed her eyes as if debating with herself if that was a good idea or not. She probably knew, it wasn’t.

“Okay, but only for a minute. I really need to-” But before she could finish I had pushed my way in and paced before her, not really sure what I would be doing now, and why this little woman was confusing me so much.

“What are you doing here, Matt?” She asked and I finally stopped the pacing.
“You didn’t answer to my message, you didn’t call back” I looked at her, she stared right back and I don’t really know what she saw but she answered anyway.

“You know why… Matt, this… whatever it is you were thinking, this is not happening. I told you, I have a boyfriend, and he could be coming home any second. I don’t want him to think that-”

“To think what? Nothing really happened, Ella! I kissed you, I didn’t know you were in a relationship. I like spending time with you, is that such a bad thing?” I asked and realized that was true, it wasn’t just the instant lust I felt when I saw her, she was funny, and I liked her company, I wanted to have more of that.

“I told him about the kiss, and of course he was not amused, Matt. He wanted me to tell him who you are and… god this is so bad!” She threw her hands in the air frustrated and I smiled, god she was so cute when she was upset.

“I didn’t think anything was bad related to us” I stepped closer and grabbed her flying hands. She felt so soft and warm. “And did you tell him who I am?” I asked when she just stared at our hands.

“I told him your name… and that you were at the gym.” So that was why Jake earlier hadn’t realized who I was when Dan had introduced us.

I nodded, when she tugged at her hands, I kept them in a firm but gentle grip. “Was he mad? At you? Did he do anything to hurt you?” I asked and I don’t know where those thoughts came from but, I had to know.

“What? No.. no of course not.” Ella shook her head and looked shocked. “He would never do such a thing.” I nodded relieved, I didn’t want her to be afraid because I made a move on her.

“What did he want with my name?” I asked and Ella rolled her eyes “Well, of course he wanted to know who the guy was that kissed me. He wanted to meet with you…” She trailed off and I knew what this meet with me would have looked like.

“Meet with me, huh?” I had to chuckle a little, knowing he met me already, but not knowing who I really was.
“This is not funny at all, Matt” She finally tugged her hands free and let them run over her face.

“You have to leave. I need to pick up Jake and-” She looked around and I stopped her with my hand to her hip, god I loved touching her, as soon as my hand touched her, I felt a tingle shooting up my arm and was wondering if this would always be.

“What do you want to say now? That I should leave and never see you again? Come on, Ella.” I pulled her closer while she wanted to take a step back. I let her, this time.

She seemed like she was debating with herself and I hoped she wouldn’t say yes, I had no idea what I would do if she send me away now, wanting to forget about me, about the time we shared, because maybe she could do that, but I knew… I couldn’t.

“Matt, that is for the best. You should go, I mean… Jake and I we are together and being here alone with you is not right.” She finally said and I couldn’t suppress the small smile on my lips, she didn’t think it was right, because I bet she could feel the pull between us too, she had to feel it.

“I will go.” I said and she looked at me a little perplex “And you will never see me again” I continued and saw how Ella was biting her bottom lip. The lust I felt for her intensifying because I wanted to be the one, biting on that full lip, sucking and licking it.

“If you tell me, that you didn’t enjoy spending time with me, if you tell me honestly, that you don’t want to see me again. Then I am out that door, and we will not meet again.” I finished and saw Ella’s eyes widened, it was a risky request I knew it but I had to hear that she either said it with honesty and then I would do as I said, but if she couldn’t, well.. then I’m still in.

“Matt” She started and swallowed, her eyes looking at me, her lips lightly parted and before I knew it I had made a step towards her.

“Tell me, Ella” I demanded and she closed her eyes, while I took another step forward, I was so close, I could see her pulse flutter in her vein, how her breast move up and down in her shirt, with her quick breathing.

“You need to leave. It’s not that I didn’t like spending time with you, okay? But I am in a relationship. Jake and I we are together for 6 years, we are happy.” She said and I swallowed done the rise of jealousy inside of me.

I never was good at sharing, and a woman wasn’t something I wanted to share. I hated that she was with someone else, but I was the one pushing myself at her, I knew that, still I couldn’t seem to walk away.

“I don’t hear that you don’t want to see me again, Ella” I whisper, only for her to hear. “Tell me you haven’t thought about me since the kiss, tell me you didn’t remember how good the kiss felt” I said and saw how her cheeks redden, she couldn’t deny that either.

“It doesn’t matter, Matt. Please… I need to go now, and you have to leave” She pushed against my chest and having her hands on me felt good, even though it was still through the shirt I was wearing.

“Okay, I will leave. But I am not walking away for good.” I press a quick kiss to her cheek and turn around to leave.

When the door closed behind me I see a smirking Brian standing opposite of me leaning against the wall, “You standing there listening in the entire time?!”

“I didn’t know you had that in you, Sanders” He said and I roll my eyes, not really sure what he was hinting at.

“But in all honesty, are you sure, you want that? Jake and her… I mean, do you want to break up a happy home?” Brian asked and I sighed, now I knew what he meant, and I wasn’t too sure myself.
