Enough

Matt, Johnny and Brian hopped into Matt's truck and Zack and I walked to my car. My hands were shaking so bad I couldn't unlock my door. What had I just done? I was thinking about walking back into the house and apologizing to Jake when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey," Zack said softy. I turned to him, tears blurring my vision. "You did great in there."

The wall holding back my tears broke and I began to cry. Zack pulled me into a hug. "What did I just do, Zack? Jake is the only man who has ever loved me."

Zack pulled away, frowning. "That's not true. Don’t you dare fucking think that." He shook his head when I opened my mouth to protest. "And even if it was, you deserve better than that. There is someone out there that deserves your love, someone who will really love you."

I sniffed and looked over to the house and noticed Jake watching us through the window. "Can we just get out of here?"

Zack looked over the house and nodded. "Yeah," he took my keys from my still trembling hands, "but maybe I should drive."

I laughed slightly and nodded. "Probably."

Zack gave me a slight smile and I walked over to the passenger side of the car and got in. Zack got in the driver’s side and started the car, not taking his eyes off Jake who was still watching us from the window.

"Alright, so Matt's?" Zack asks when he finally breaks his gaze away from Jake.

"Actually, can we not go there quite yet?" I asked him. "I don't really want to deal with that right now."

Zack nodded and then began to back the car out of the driveway and into the road. "Let's go get lunch then."

Zack drove us to a small restaurant near my – Jakes house. We went in and the hostess sat us immediately. The server walked up and Zack ordered a beer and I ordered water.

"Not much of a drinker anymore, Beks?" Zack smiled. "You used to out-drink everyone in school."

I laughed, and shook my head. "Jake never let me drink. He limited a lot of things I could eat and drink."

Zack nodded slightly and the server delivered our drinks. "Do you guys need a couple more minutes, or are you ready?" She asked with a smile on her face.

Zack stared at me for a brief moment and then, without taking his eyes off me, said, "We need a couple more minutes but in the meantime can you bring us three shots of Jack, please?"

"Not a problem!" She smiled before walking away.

I shook my head at him, "What are you doing, Zachary?"

He smiled innocently at me. "Nothing, Beks, just thought we could celebrate a little."

I took a sip of water. "It's lunchtime!"

Zack laughed. "And? When has that stopped us before? I'm pretty sure we have been drunk at nine in the morning before." He glanced at his wrist watch. "It's two right now, so I think we're making progress."

I shook my head again. "You're a bad influence, you always have been!"

"Oh, that hurts! You know, you'd still be that lame ass girl if I hadn't introduced you to all the cool things back then."

"Oh, yeah," I nodded sarcastically. "Like day drinking and skipping school. I was a good kid before I started hanging out with you."

Zack took a drink of his beer. "You were lame as fuck."

I opened my mouth to reply but the server walked up with three large shot glasses filled with Jack Daniels. She placed them on the table in between me and Zack. "You guys ready?" She asked.

I nodded. "Can I get the bacon cheese burger with all three types of cheeses and extra bacon?" Jake never let me get a burger with extra cheese and bacon.

She nodded and scribbled it down onto her pad, "Are french fries okay?"

"Yes, please."

She nodded again and turned to Zack, "and for you, sir?"

"I'll take the exact same thing, please." He said, folding his menu and handed it to her. I handed her mine as well.

"Alright, that's easy enough." She smiled. "I'll have that right out."

"Thank you," Zack and I said together and she walked off.

Zack didn't waste any time pushing a shot glass towards me and grabbing one for him. "To freedom, happiness and new beginnings." He raised his glass in the air.

I shook my head and picked mine up and lightly tapped his. "Hear, hear." I smiled. Zack and I both took our shots. The liquor warmed my insides instantly and caused chills to run up my spine. I used to take shots like a champ, and here I was needed a second to recover from one. When I looked at Zack again he looked like he was holding back a laugh.

"That was cute." He chuckled.

I shook my head, "Give me a break, it's been a while." I laughed and took a swig of water.

Zack pushed the remaining shot to me. "That one is yours too."

I shook my head and stared at it for a moment. "I hate you." I told him before picking it up and tossing the liquid to the back of my throat.

Zack laughed again. "I could watch you take shots all day. It really is the funniest thing."

I flipped him off and took another large swig of water. "Fuck you."

Zack was about to reply when our server walked up with our burgers. "Two bacon cheeseburgers with extra bacon, extra cheese and French fries." She said as she sat them down in front of us. She picked the shot glasses up. "Can I get you guys any more shots?"

Zack raised his eyebrows up at me and I shook my head. "No, thank you," I told her, taking another swig of water.

She nodded. "Okay, can I get you guys anything else? Perhaps another beer, sir."

"Yes, please." Zack nodded.

She smiled before walking off. I picked up my burger and my mouth began to water. "It's been so long since I've had one of these."

Zack picked his up and held it slightly higher than he usually would, "to freedom, happiness and new beginnings."

"Hear, hear." I said with a mouthful of goodness in my mouth.

Edit: I have a question for you guys. I've been debating about whether or not to write this as another story in Zack's POV. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading something like that. It wouldn't be as long as Rebekah's POV (20 chapter), it'll probably be around the 10-15 chapter mark. I could post it as a sequel or I could start posting it before Rebekah's POV is over. Of course, there would be no spoilers in Zack's POV, aside from his own doings and secrets.

Anyways, it was just an idea. Let me know if you're interested. Also, shoot me some story titles. You'd get full title credit for it (unless it's a song title, then you'd get partial credit).
