Fresh Start

Jade’s POV:

So I’ve been avoiding Matt for the past 3 days, It’s Monday afternoon which means I’m home working on my laptop.

Part of me feels really bad for being this cold hearted towards Matt after him helping me out but I can’t let myself get close to another man. I sometimes catch myself hoping he is different than other men but I can’t help but think it’s all a show.

Maybe being friends won’t hurt?


Matt’s POV:

“Dude stop sulking and go ask her out for coffee or something?” says Brian as we hang around my home office discussing contracts.

“I’m not sulking, just thinking.”

Why is she so against hanging out with me? I want to get to know her, the real her. I can tell she’s hiding things and distancing herself. Do I want to pursue a relationship? Not right now but I think after we get to know each other it will lead to a possibility of one. Honestly, I’ll settle for just being friends.

“Okay that’s it! I haven’t met her and you three idiots won’t shut up about her so I’m going to go over and introduce myself.” Says Johnny with a grin as he walks out the door.

“Johnny come back! Damn, now she’s going to think I’m a creep!” I scream at Johnny from the porch.

“Dude, get inside before she see’s you or then she’ll think you actually sent Johnny.” Says Brain.

Now to just sit here and wait for Johnny…

I’m screwed.

Jade’s POV:

As I snap myself out from thinking about Matt again, I hear the doorbell ring.

Matt?

I open the door to a short man with a Mohawk?

“Hi, I’m Johnny. I just came over to introduce myself and to put a face to the name the guys won’t stop talking about.” Says Johnny with a smile and a hand held out in front of him.

“Oh, well nice to meet you Johnny.” I say as I kiss his cheek.

“You too, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to come help you move in. I’ll gladly help next time.” Jonny says with a smile.

“I’m definitely taking you up on that offer sometime soon, I’m going shopping later for the crib and stuff for the nursery but I’m not setting it up yet just shopping for it.”

“Well, the guys and I are working in Matt’s office but Matt’s free. I’ll ask him if he can go with you to help you carry the boxes and stuff if you want?” Says Johnny.

Well, I was going to pay for everything to be delivered but having Matt there to put the boxes in the car would save me money and allow me to buy more things.

So much for avoiding Matt.

“Umm sure, I’d appreciate his help. If he doesn’t want to go it’s okay, I doubt he wants to go to a baby store to shop.” I say uncertain of whether I want to spend time with Matt or not.

“He’d love too, he loves kids. I’ll go tell him.”

“Bye Jade, nice meeting you.” Says Johnny as he kisses my cheek and runs to Matt’s.

Matt hasn’t even said yes and I’m already regretting this.

Might as well get changed.

Matt’s POV:

“Matt!” screams Johnny throughout the house till he stops in front of me.

“What did she say? Is she mad?”

Please don’t tell me I’m screwed.

“Dude, I did you a favor! You want to spend time with her right? Well, just dressed to go shopping.” Says Johnny with a big grin.

“Seriously? Shopping where?”

“Baby shopping, she needs helping fitting the crib and stuff into the car and into the house.”
I run off upstairs to change.

“Hey! I don’t get a thank you!”

“Thanks, Johnny.”

Wow, he actually helped me.

I get dressed in jeans and a black shirt. After making sure I look good and saying bye to the guys, I head over to Jade’s house.

Well, here goes nothing.

I knock on the door and wait.

Jade’s POV:

Okay Jade, breathe. It’s just a guy.

Just a guy.

I got this.

I open the door and give Matt a kiss on the cheek.

“Ready to go?” Says Matt.

“Yeah, thank you for coming with me Matt.” I smile at him and lock the front door.

“It’s no problem at all, I’ll help in any way I can.”

I give him a hug as another thanks and get into my Lexus.

I buckle up and start the car.

Here goes nothing.
