Sweet Things (Rewrite)

Erin’s P.O.V

I was in a fuss over the way my hair was behaving, it was a nightmare, I took the straightener over the mess again smoothing it out and making sure that it fell exactly where I wanted it to, I looked at myself in the mirror sighing for a moment, I changed my shirt and then looked again and was pleased so I grabbed my bag and my phone and ran downstairs finding my dad collecting all the papers that were scattered across the counter.

“Another long night of work?” I asked stealing his cup of coffee and sipping it, he chuckled until he noticed the coffee in my hand and he took it back from me.

“Why don’t you get your own cup of this!” He said playfully and I just went over to the pot and waved it by his face.

“Because you drink it all before I get any!” I said and he just laughed before starting his normal everyday routine of hunt for the car keys that were right in his hand..

“Dad they are in your hand, you need to like totally chill okay you are like stressed out pops” I said laughing knowing that he hated when I called him that, I was flipping through the newspaper with my powers, and I usually cant tell that I am doing it…

“Can you not do that craft bullshit in front of me please… you know how I feel about it Erin” he said and I stopped, I sat there as he was finished grabbing all of his things and he gave me a kiss on the forehead

“Please… don’t do it at school either, I get that you are comfortable but Erin it is fucking dangerous…. Just don’t do it, now I am gonna be late tonight so don’t wait up, love you honey” He said… of course probably work shit or something… more time for me or maybe I would just hang with my cousin or find something a little interesting to do. Of course the first half of the day was lame and then I spent some time just hanging out in the library… I may have taken the time to lift some books myself and have some “craft” time as my dad called it. Hannah showed up with her backpack on her back just watching for a moment.

“You know,” Hannah said looking over at me… here we go.

“You really shouldn’t do that in places where people could easily see you,” She said following soon after and I just kept my concentration on what I was doing.

“Or at all, really, yeah, I like the sound of that better” She said but I wasn’t gonna stop just cause she was there.

“Oh come on, Hannah… it’s fun” I said because I fully embraced what I was and what I could do with my abilities… Hannah knew what she was but she didn’t like it and she didn’t study it as much as I did… let’s just say… we are pretty different.

“I disagree” She said and I just scoffed.. I was used to it though, she pulled out some of her infamous chocolate chip cookies, a juice pouch and her sketch book which was pretty much the norm when she hung with me here.

“You’re the only senior in this school who still drinks juice pouches,” I said as she poked the hole in her juice pouch and just like my usual self and the fact that she was really on me about this today… my mind ran wild… and my thoughts made it to my mouth.

“It’s no wonder people think you’re weird” I laughed and got louder the more that I thought about it… but then I realized how bad and mean that sounded just now… fuck.

“Fuck, I didn’t mean like-“ I said but she cut me off.

“Thanks,” She said quickly and took a deep breath just brushing it off.

“I know what you meant” She spoke softly as she started to sketch and she fell quiet and I sat there silently and started flipping through pages of the books. Not but ten minutes later Hannah tensed hearing guys talking and coming closer to where we were.

“Stop they will see you” She said and I flipped one of the books as the voices neared the corner and she swatted at my hands and in front of my face and I blinked and lost focus catching the book just as I saw Jimmy, Matt and Zack come around the corner chatting about how Brian stole some beer from the store. Zack looked over and smiled at me.

“Doing some reading I see” He said sarcastically and I just rolled my eyes yet laughed.

“Oh yeah cause I am really reading all these.. fuck that” I said and Hannah nudged me and I just made a face at her. Matt handed me some of the gum that he had remembering that cotton candy was my favorite and I sat there blowing bubbles.

“So wassup nerds” I said and Jimmy sat there watching Hannah as she sketched trying to
ignore me and the fact that I was using the craft. I looked at Matt and Zack and they just smiled.

“Wanna come to a party this weekend?” Zack asked and I just perked up and smacked
Hannah’s arm and made her mess up.

“You have to go with me and get out of the house… PLEASE!!!!!” I said almost begging her as she erased the line and she nodded and gave me the whatever swat. And I looked back over at them and nodded.

“Where is it gonna be at?” I asked.

“My place my parents will be out of town and Amy is gonna be away for the weekend” Matt said.

“I will definitely be there and I will have Hannah there as well looking fine as hell” I said and they laughed and Jimmy just smiled.

“Good she can keep me company” Jimmy said as they walked away and I could see Hannah smiling but quickly she looked back at me pissed as hell and I knew I was gonna get it.

“SERIOUSLY YOU ALMOST GOT CAUGHT!!!” She said and I just rubbed my head and I just literally closed my eyes and I nodded.

“Im sorry okay!! Jeeze I don’t need to hear another lecture today….. but… You are coming to the party with me right?” I asked her and she just shook her head for a moment and I leaned in nudging her.

“Come on please!!! I know Jimmy wants to see your cute ass there!” I said… blushing… bright red of course.

“Don’t make me go… people don’t like me and I dont even know the guys!!!” She said and I rolled my eyes scooting closer to her.

“They are great!! And Jimmy is totally awesome! And it will only be them probably a few other people, you can sleep over at my place after COME ON HANNAH DO IT!!!” I said putting my head on her shoulder and giving her my best puppy dog face and she just shrugged me off laughing and she got up packing her stuff and started walking off.

“Hannah?? So is that a yes?!!!” I asked loudly as she walked away and she just laughed… ah come on Hannah you’re killing me.
