Hush, be careful of what you say

Brian POV

Right now I’m feeling like shit, because of a lot of different reasons. I drank too much, Arin has just left Matt’s house because of a fight I started, I had to talk about Jimmy, and my hand is hurting like a bitch. So yeah, I think you got the point that I am feeling like shit.
And the worst part of all is that the others don’t seem to truly understand my position right now and they’re holding it against me.
How can I make myself even more clear? How?!

“Perfect” Matt yells as he comes back into the room and brings out a bottle of beer for himself.
“What now?” Johnny replies.
“Arin just left, and honestly he seemed confused”
“What do you mean confused?” Zacky asks looking worried.
“When I told him that I will phone him back with the details and everything he didn’t seem interested like before. It was like he just wanted to get the hell out of here. I don’t know about you guys, but right now I don’t have a good feeling. Not at all” Matt says, sounding pissed off.
I don’t even dare to say anything, or else I’ll risk to get my throat ripped off. They’re not pleased with me with the way I handled things.

“Listen, let’s not worry about that now. I think we all need to go and sleep it off. Get the alcohol out of our system as well. But then I think we need to meet altogether and see how we’re going to solve this new-member thing with our manager. He needs to know, and we should do it quickly so as to phone Arin back” Zacky explains.
I can’t help but look up as I feel that everyone is staring at me.
“What?” I finally say.
“Have you understood what Zacky just said?” Matt said coldly, surely that he is still pissed at me.
“Yes, the last time I checked I’m not deaf Matt. So yeah, I heard him out alright” I reply back, meeting his tone that he used with me.
“I don’t care about hearing him. I want to make sure that you have listened and understood what Zacky said. We have to solve this situation as soon as possible. You know the label is on our ass because of our new album. They need us to release it at a certain date so that we will start our tour. So, bear with us Brian!”
“”I’ll see you tomorrow” I say as I get off the couch and get ready to head back home. I am not ready for any more bullshit tonight, so it’s better to leave and prevent any more fights.

At that instant Matt’s phone goes off and I don’t know for what reason, but he doesn’t seem too pleased when he looked the caller ID.
“Hey bro, it’s a bit late for a call related to work, don’t you think?” he says as a joke. But we all know that he meant that remark.
I decide not to head out, to see what the phone call is about. I see Matt sitting down on a stool, putting his hand in his hair, nodding to what is being said over the phone but at the same time not looking too convinced.
“Yes, I understand. But you need to understand that right now we’re still without an official drummer. Yes, yes I know. We already held the auditions and we’re closing in on one. We already met him and…… yes, I know. But…… listen…..”
I can see Matt getting angrier. What is this all about? I look over at Zacky as he reciprocates the move. He signals that he doesn’t know a thing of what’s going on.
“Yes I will tell them. Tomorrow we shall have a meeting, discuss everything and prepare for it. Yepp. Okay dude, have a good night!”
Matt ends the phone call, as he throws the phone to the couch.

“Fucking shit!” he says under his breath, while putting his head onto his hands.
“What happened?!” Zacky asks, sounding a bit afraid of the news.
“Well, apparently we have to do a show in two days. The papers were already signed before Jimmy’s death, and we cannot opt to not do it. That’s why I was trying to reason out with him but it was all for shit”
“Great, we’re butt-fucked!” Johnny says as he sits down.
This is not good. How the hell are we supposed to perform a show, full one hour and a half gig without a drummer?! Or else with a new drummer?! We are known for the great performances that we put on, but if you ask me, I don’t know how the hell we can pull this off.
“Why didn’t he call out manager?” I ask Matt.
“Because I was the one who signed the papers. Not Joe”.
“What?!” Johnny says, getting off of the couch. Fucking perfect!
“I forgot to tell you guys. This is a charity thing, so I thought it was pretty cool back then. I’m sorry but fuck me, I didn’t know in what position we were going to be two days prior the actual event” Matt explains himself.
“The day is just getting better and better. Fuck it, I’m gonna pour myself another drink!” Zacky says.

“What the hell are we going to do?!” I ask them.
“We need to perform. We have to. We have to figure out a way on how we’re going to do it” Matt continues.
“Well, it’s a good thing that we are in talks with a new drummer, don’t you think?” Johnny says as he looks at me.
“Why are you looking at me like that short shit?” I snap at him.
“Because you caused a lot of drama tonight”
“That’s the least of our problems right now” I defend myself.
“Well actually it’s not. Arin can help us stand a chance, without him we’re fucked for sure!” Matt says.
“Uhm. I think I’m THE drunk out of all of us. But apparently I still have some good sense. Don’t you think you’re forgetting something important?! Arin is the newbie. He’s not us. We know all of our songs, he doesn’t. How is he going to be able to learn and perform our songs in two freaking days?!” Zacky explains, pointing at all of us to use our heads.
“He has a valid point!” Johnny says.
“Without him we’re fucked, with him we might perform some of the songs. We have to try and have a drummer. We will work our asses these couple of days, but at least we’d try” Matt explains.

“Brian?” Matt asks me.
I look at him and I know that he wants to say where I stand, since I haven’t put out my thoughts on this manner. As much as I don’t want Arin to play with us, at least for now, deep down I know that he can actually help us. We need him to play in our gig.
“I agree. Tomorrow morning we should call Arin and start rehearsing the fucking songs” it was difficult for me to admit, but fuck it.
“Good. You used your head, the only time tonight!” Johnny remarks, as I flip him off.
“Okay now cut it out. Let’s go and rest for a bit before of the hectic two days.” Matt tells us.
We all get our stuff and head out of Matt’s house. I see Johnny by my side with a huge grin on his face.

“Why do you have that stupid grin on your face short shit?!” I ask him.
“Come on admit it Brian!” he tells me, still with that grin of his.
“Admit what?” I ask him, not understanding what he’s trying to impose.
“Admit that we need Arin to be saved. We need Arin as a drummer”
“Just shut up” I tell him, hitting him on his head while Zacky bursts out laughing.
But if I had to tell you the truth, it’s true. We need him, at least for this one night we need him. But I’m not going to admit it in front of them guys, no way.

Well, the guys need Arin's help to be able to play this gig, whether Brian likes it or not!
What do you think will be Arin's reaction? Will he help them? And how will this gig go..will it be a successful one or a total failure?!
