Brian’s POV

Another nearly sleepless night for me… I was tossing and turning from one side to the other…
I just hated this feeling!

Sam caught me off guard with her question of a way to help me stay out, of course she would be also thinking about it but…
I couldn’t tell her, couldn’t answer her…

Could I find a way to get around it?
But what should I say?
I wasn’t allowed to tell her any of this…

I turned around and looked at Sam’s sleeping form, her eyes were moving behind her closed eyelids and she nearly turned as much as I did…

When we got up again it would be 5 days, 5 days remaining…
What if I would plan something special for us?
Something romantic, something that I wouldn’t do normally… and at the end of the night I would tell her how I felt, and then I would see if it was enough or not…

I nodded to myself that was a good idea, it made sense, it would bring me closer to where I needed to be…

Two hours later we drove over to the hotel, where Matt and the rest of the guys were staying.
We helped them load everything up and I waited together with Sam and Selena in our car.
I could see Selena was tapping her thigh and I knew exactly what she wanted, but I would wait for her to say it.

Matt loaded his bag into his car and his eyes were darting over to Selena beside me, she sighed and turned towards Sam and me.
“Would you mind, if I drive with Matt?” She asked and I gave her a knowing look.
That was exactly what I was thinking.

“Why do you want to drive with him?” I asked and she rolled her eyes “Don’t be an ass, Brian. I want to spend some more time with him, and I bet if you could remember him this wouldn’t be that much of a deal.” Selena said and lifted one eyebrow but I vehemently shook my head.
“I bet, if I remembered each and every one of them I would lock you away from them, because… I knew what shit they already pulled, now it’s the unknown that scares me.”

Selena smiled and patted my cheek “You are adorable, really. We will see us in Huntington…” She gave me and Sam a kiss to the cheek before heading over to Matt who was smiling brightly when she joined him and huffed out a breath.

“Don’t look so grumpy, Brian… She wants to spend time with him, they won’t get lost on us during the ride. And she is a grown woman, she can do whatever she wants...” Sam said and grinned like this was all about fun.

Maybe it was for them… but I wanted to protect them as long as I was around, that would be my task at least.

Jimmy walked past us and I got an idea, where I would need his help with “Will you excuse me for a second?” I asked Sam but was already walking past her and towards Jimmy himself.

“Hey…” I said and looked if we were far enough away from Sam so she wouldn’t hear what I would ask him.
“You okay, man?” Jimmy chuckled following my glance.
“Yeah… I wanted to ask you something… for a favor actually.” I asked him and he nodded, crossing his arms over his chest and leaned back against the car.

“Tell me about it.” He looked really interested and I sighed “Alright, I wanted to plan something… special for Sam, I means he is spending her vacation time on me actually and I wanted to plan something romantic for her… something really meaningful… but since I cant remember a fucking thing about Huntington besides Johnny’s bar, which I guess wouldn’t be the perfect scene for a date, I need your help to… you know organize something… would you?” I finished and looked hopeful.

“Well, sure… Let me think of something…” Jimmy put his hand to his chin, rubbing over it, his eyes darting over my shoulder and I knew he was looking at Sam now.
“What do you think of as a starter?” Jimmy asked finally meeting my eyes again.

“Well.. I don’t know… I mean… I would like to take her to dinner, thing is… I don’t have money… I mean.. not that I know of or have any account to go to… so that would be the first problem, then if we are on the beach, and I do remember liking the beach, I would want to end the night there…” I said shrugging and Jimmy nodded.
“Sounds good… let me arrange something, I’ll make some calls, will get you a nice restaurant and pay in advance, don’t worry, you can eat whatever you like, no limitations… afterwards I will set something up on the beach for you, I know the perfect spot for that, and maybe you will remember it as well, when you are there.” Jimmy pushed himself of the car… looking all excited all of a sudden.

“And I have another plan…Tell Sam that we will take you to some locations tomorrow morning, tell her its something only for men… so she won’t be able to come with us… we will let her have some time with Selena, and take Matt and the others with us as well…” Jimmy said and I was getting confused, what was he talking about… and where had he lost me in his plans?!

“I don’t… really..” I started but he shook his head “Just do it… the rest will be my work to do.” Jimmy said and then turned away, pulling his phone out and dismissed me.
I looked at his back and frowned, what the hell…

I walked back to Sam and she lifted and eyebrow at me “What was that about?” She asked and I frowned.
“Hell if I know… I just wanted to know what they planned for the next days, and where we could be going…” I half lied and half said the truth.
“And?” Sam looked at Jimmy who paced around with his phone at his ear.
“Well… he said he and the guys had something planned for me and them… and that you and Selena get some time alone… I don’t really know what this is about....” I told the truth now, because I really didn’t know and how we should do this..

“Okay, then we will have to wait and see, huh?!” Sam smiled and I thought she would question this more, but she trusted me and that was such a good feeling.

“We will… and as it looks over there, Matt is already discussing everything very closely with her… too closely for my taste.” I grumbled seeing Selena and Matt standing only inches apart and Sam grinned “I could get jealous over your protectiveness of Selena, do I have to worry, Brian?” Sam asked and grabbed the front of my shirt pulling me into her.

I laid my arms around her waist and the world was already forgotten… “Who and what were you talking about?” I asked and leaned down, kissing her lips softly, and she opened up immediately letting me in and get a taste of her.

“Hmm… I missed this.” She hummed into my mouth and I had to agree, I just realized that the last day we have been close together but yet again, feeling so far away, as far away, as I haven’t felt in a long time actually.

“Me too… sorry for being distant, it was just… too much for me lately… the time is running out and thinking about losing you and all this… is making it really hard for me to deal with it, Sam.” I admitted quietly and didn’t dare to look into her eyes.
I felt soft hands on my cheek, pulling my head up until I saw Sam’s lips and I had no other way then in the end to meet her eyes now.

“I know, babe. I know… We will deal with it, together… I promise. You trust me, right Brian?” She asked and I nodded, didn’t have to think about it twice.

“Then believe me when I say, we will find a solution, together… we will find a solution.” Sam soft lips met mine again and I sighed into our kiss, she was right, as long as we were together we would find a way, a way… for me to stay.
