Brian’s POV
This was annoying and I didn’t like the stupid grin on my “friends” faces, they were talking about old memories, old stories, they must think were funny, but they weren’t, not when you couldn’t remember them or you weren’t there… but if I had been there, I would apparently lay on the floor laughing, like Jimmy did right now…

I must say, this guy… he was really something else and I could think that he would have been an awesome friend… but I just couldn’t remember.
And the more and more they talked, the more frustrated I got.
I felt a hand on my thigh stroking softly and lifted my head up to meet Sam’s gentle eyes.

“Are you okay?” She asked quietly while the others kept laughing, and we were unnoticed.
“I don’t know.” I admitted, I felt still out of place here with them.
“Come on” She stood up and pulled me with her, guided me upstairs and into her bedroom and then sitting me down on the bed.

“It’s not working is it?” She asked and I shook my head.
“Nothing, not a little memory, not a name, a location, nothing.” I was getting frustrated over this, I was used to now at least having something, even if it didn’t make sense now.

“It will come back, babe. Don’t worry.” She pulled her phone out checking her messages and smiled.
“How about…” She smiled still down on her phone and I tried to look at it as well, but she pulled it away.

“What’s that? Who was that?” I asked a little too suspicious I guess.
“That my dear Brian was Ethan.” Sam said smiling and I looked into her eyes, why was she looking so happy when Ethan sent her a message?

“And?” I asked impatient. “Why is he making you smile like that?” I asked and narrowed my eyes.
“Well.. you wanna know that, don’t you?” She grinned and got up from the bed and slowly sat down on my lap.
I put my hand on her hips and held her close to me “So, will you tell me or do I have to guess?” I asked and she grinned even more.
“Guess” She pecked my lips and had this evil grin on her, and I knew what she was doing here, distracting me what was going on downstairs, from the whole situation and I had to give her that, it was working… too good.

“He wrote you, that he quit and you won’t see him again?” I asked playfully and she snorted a laugh.
“You think I would look happy when he writes that?” She chuckled still and I lifted and eyebrow “Well, a guy can hope, huh?”
“That’s not it no!” She said between laughs and I closed my eyes, thinking.

“He told you his feelings?” I grinned when I opened my eyes, meeting Sam’s stunned face.
“What? You know he has feelings for you, right? So… maybe that would make you smile?” I asked, not really liking that thought, but was possible… if I was gone and Ethan knew, I wouldn’t waste any time if I was him…

“Brian? Can we be serious now?” Sam asked and put her hands to my cheeks, making me look at her.
“What? Sure… well.. I was… anyway. Will you tell me now?” I asked and she grinned.
“How about I give you one more clue?” She asked and I rolled my eyes.
“Fine. Tell me.”
“Suitcase” Her eyes twinkled and I knew this could only mean, she got days off from work.
“We can go to Huntington? Earlier?”
“Yes, tomorrow! I only need to do some final things today, and got the rest of the week off. You and I can leave tomorrow, with your friends, if you want… and I bet Selena wants to come along as well, what do you say?” Sam asked and my heartbeat increased.

What would happen if I go back to Huntington, would I finally recognize something?
Would that help me remember more things?
Would it even make a difference, if Sam doesn’t love me… or I didn’t love her enough?!

“You don’t like it? You don’t want to go?” Sam asked sad and her face fell, shit… perfect Brian now I made her feel crushed.
“No, of course I love it. I want to go! Believe me, maybe that will finally trigger something! Hopefully…” I tried a smile and Sam nodded.
“Yes, that’s what I thought. We will make a nice vacation from this, you and me… and your memory.” Sam grinned and I nodded, even though I didn’t feel it.

Sam’s POV

Brian didn’t look like he was thinking this was a good idea, but it was… it had to be.
Selena was right, we had to keep fighting, we had to try… only 6 days, it was all we had, and we had to try…

“Brian… if you have to leave… what if… do you know what happens when you have to go back into the book and Selena would like… summon you. Do you think you could remember us?” I asked, this question was in my head for a while.
I know it wouldn’t be the perfect solution, but it would buy us more time.

Brian looked at me frowning, his hands stopped wandering up and down my sides.
“I don’t know… She could summon me… sure, but if I remember what had been going on… I don’t know.” He looked confused.

“But you do remember your previous summons?” I asked curious and he nodded “Yes, I do… but if I found anything out about myself in that time… I don’t know. Maybe I did, then I forgot it all… maybe I didn’t…” Brian shrugged and I felt sad for him.

How would I react if he came back, and wouldn’t recognize me, because maybe I could trigger some memories?

“Do you have any idea how we can… stop it. How we can prevent you from going back?” I asked the question burning on my tongue the entire time and Brian stared at me, without replying.
It was like he was holding his breath.

“Brian?” I asked again but he still didn’t reply and was scaring me a little, did he know something, or was there just no way… but that couldn’t be could it?

There had to be something, or why would he would he be starting to remember this stuff?

“Sam? Brian? Are you alright?” Selena stood in the doorway, looking from Brian to me and back and I didn’t know how to reply.
“Are you coming back? Or should I send the guys back to the hotel?” She asked when neither one of us replied.

“No, we need to discuss something with them. We will be out there in a second, alright?” I finally said and Selena nodded.
“You sure? I don’t think they would be mad, if I tell them to leave.” Selena asked again and I shook my head.
“No, we are sure. Just 5 more minutes, then we will be there.” I assured her and she nodded and was gone.

“Brian, did you hear me? Is there something you wanna tell me?” I tried again but he shook his head, finally out of the trance he had been in.
“I have no idea. If I knew… I would… tell you, right?” He asked and then gently put me back on my feet and walked out of the room without looking back.

Why didn’t I lose the feeling that he was not telling me the truth? He never acted this way before, so what was going on?!

I quickly followed him downstairs and he already sat on couch listening in on the conversation Jimmy and Zack were having.

I coughed a little and got the attention of the room “Guys, can I ask you something?”
“Sure..” I heard Matt and the others nodded.
“When did you plan to go back home?” I asked and Matt looked a little perplexed and I quickly tried to justify my question “Not that I want to get rid of you, but… I got some days off and Brian and I could leave tomorrow, if you guys, are going back as well, you maybe could show us around a little? I mean who would be better tour guides then you right?” I asked and earned chuckles.
“That’s damn right.” Jimmy nodded.
“So, we will leave with you. We just need another car, or you ain’t coming back.” Jimmy winked at me and I grinned.
“Don’t tempt me.” I looked at Brian who had his mouth hanging open, alright he wasn’t used to my teasing side apparently.

But then again, we knew each other only for three weeks, right? God, three weeks… it felt so differently…

“Okay, so that’s settled, we all leave tomorrow and head back to Huntington… I still owe need to show you around, right Selena?” Matt asked and I saw Selena blush “I think so yes.”

“Alright… Huntington Beach, we are coming!” I agreed and couldn’t wait, this had to be the way to get Brian back!
