Banned in a book

Matt’s POV

Before we drove over to Brian we met with the others outside, I knew Selena was still concerned, so I wanted her to talk to Zack or Jimmy. I wasn’t really convinced if that was the best idea, but since they were the only ones remembering Brian it would be better than nothing, right?

What in the end came out of that talk, was not really helping either, Jimmy tried to soother but didn’t really know how.
And Zacky was determined that Brian’s old self… wasn’t the best thing to talk about with her.
I knew what he meant, both him and Jimmy had already said that Brian had been the worst of us when it came to girls and hook-ups. But he and Sam looked so real… like he would finally settle down and had found the right woman.

Maybe that was just it, finding the right one, and then you didn’t need all the women from before…
Maybe that was what Brian found and maybe that was why I felt so good with Selena, maybe she was that one for me?

Who knew?

We made a quick stop in getting breakfast for everyone and then we walked towards the door, but Selena stopped me with her hand.
“Can you guys… like come 5 minutes later and wait here?” She asked all of us but here eyes were directed only at me.

“What do you mean?” I asked a little perplex “Why should we wait?” What was the sense in that?
“Well…” Selena looked a little uncomfortable to the door and back at me.
“I don’t know… if…” She started, her eyes now not meeting mine anymore making me frown even more, what is happening?

“She doesn’t want to come home to her friends, knowing she was with us, idiot.” Zack slapped the back of my head and I opened my mouth to reply that’s bullshit, but when I saw Selena’s face, I knew he was right.

“Why?” I asked still dumbfounded.
“Well… I told them… ah.. doesn’t matter… maybe they won’t even realize.” She sighed and turned around. Jimmy pressed the doorbell before I got the chance to say anything else.

Sam opened the door, she had a smile on her face and her eyes started at Selena, wandered to the rest of us and then she had a knowing look on her face.
“HI, come on in.” She greeted all of us with a hug and Selena tried to quickly walk away and I had to chuckle, but that stopped when I stared into the angry eyes of our supposed to be friend, Brian.
Shit, what crawled up his ass this morning and died?

“Hey” I greeted him but he just stared at me, alright…. Nice welcome, maybe he remembered me and I did him wrong, the last time we were together?
“Can we talk outside?” Brian said and I frowned, what a surprise, he can talk.

“Sure, why not.”I shrugged and Brian got up, but Sam stopped him “Brian, please.” Sam hissed but he shook his head.
“Brian..” Selena looked at him too and I was thinking that I was the only one not getting what was going on right now… but why?!

We walked outside and Brian shut the door, then he turned towards me and looked still pissed as hell.
“Have you been with Selena this night?” He asked and now I was finally getting what this was about.
“Yeah.. she came to me, why?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Did she say why?” He asked mimicking my posture.

“Well, that’s none of your business as far as I know.” I replied sharply. First of all, it wasn’t any of his business, then again, I didn’t want to get Selena into trouble for telling me what had been going on tonight.
“Well, and why do you think it’s your business? What do you want from Selena? She is not just one cheap hook up girl, you can play with!” Brian narrowed his eyes again and I nodded.

“I know that. What? Is this the big brother talk? Or should I be concerned that Sam isn’t enough for you and you want my girl as well?” I asked and knew I was pushing the boundaries, because I wasn’t really Selena’s man at the moment, not that we talked about at least, and he and Sam looked pretty close so I had no right to say that, but he fucked me up with his stupid comments…

“What?” He took a step forward and I looked down on him, I was a little taller than him and I knew I could easily take him in a fight and that without breaking in sweat.
“So you are not playing a game here? Cause that’s what Selena thought.” Brian said and I shook my head.

“None of your business, but if you wanna play watchdog. No, I am not playing any games, Haner. I like her, and I want to spend time with her. She came to me this evening and and wanted to stay, so quit this bullshit and leave us alone!”I took another step forward bringing us face to face.

“I won’t accept you hurting her. She had been hurt already, and she is my friend. If you fucking harm her in any way, I will-” He continued talking and I felt like a dejavu was happening but from what and where… where did this familiar feeling come from?!

“Did you hear me?” Brian raised his voice and I looked at him, and remembered… I finally rememberd, Brian… one of my best friends.

I smiled silly and grabbed him into a hug, “Fucking hell… Brian.. I remember. I know you… you are one of my best friends… of course you are!” I held him arms length away and looked at him again, fuck me.
Know I knew what Zacky and Jimmy were talking about the entire time.

“What? Get your hands of me… what are you talking about?” Brian looked confused, but I hugged him again, damn this felt good, my friend was back… or at least the memories of my friend.

Selena’s POV

I was waiting for Brian and Matt to come back inside, but they didn’t, they seemed to talk real long… and I didn’t like that, what did these two have to talk about?!

“Sam, can I talk to you for a second?” I asked and would just take the chance to talk to her a little while the guys were not with us.
I excused us from the others who were sitting on the couch.

“Did Brian act differently today? Or did he talk to you about something?” I asked her and she shook her head… then nodded, then shook her head again.
“I don’t really know. I think he was confused, and he was saying something about, loosing hope. Damn, Selly only 6 days, then he will leave again. I don’t know if I can handle that. We need to find a way to keep him. I don’t know even if he would stay out of the book, if he wanted to still be with me, but we cant let him live like that… he earns a real life, his real friends… I want him to have that… even though I knew he would be leaving me in the end.” Sam said sadly and I frowned.

“But why would you think that? I think you underestimate Brian… I don’t think he would want to leave you either way… I bet he wants to stay as much as you want him to stay… maybe you just need to tell him again… because sometimes it seems like he is not really sure, how to express himself, if you know what I mean.”I tried to push her into the right direction but didn’t know if she got me.

“I don’t know Selena… I just… don’t know.” She looked a little defeated and that was the less what we needed. We needed Sam to fight and tell Brian what he needed to hear, they couldn’t give up.
Not with only 6 days left.

The door opened and Matt and Brian came back, Matt looked like the happiest man on earth, while Brian looked totally confused.
What happened between those two?!

“I remember! I FUCKING REMEMBER HIM!” Matt announced and Jimmy and Zack jumped up and yelled while Johnny looked a little crushed , he was the only one besides Brian himself not to remember.
And I felt for him…

“Why are they remembering and I am not? Damn it… that really sucks.” Johnny sighed.
“Well, you are the shortest” Zack said as if that explained everything and the three of them burst out laughing and I saw Brian chuckle as well, was that something like a running gag?

“Haha, great now even he laughs… even though he also doesn’t remember. Can we now talk about something serious for once, you bastards?” Johnny asked and we all moved over to the couch and Sam brought the coffee with her, so now the next phase would begin.
