Banned in a book

Brian’s POV

“Come again?” I looked at Selena and I thought I just heard her say, that I was on the picture.

“You saw what?” Sam looked as confused as me, so did I hear her correctly?

“Listen, I know this sounds weird, but they had this picture and I know it was you, or you have a twin brother, do you? I mean have a twin?” Selena asked frowning and this was making me even more confused.
“No, I don’t have a twin… or well not that I know of” I shrugged and Sam patted my thigh.

“So what did you see on that picture? Like was it old, or maybe that was just someone that looked a little like me? I can’t be on some picture… that’s just…” I trailed off, what if that was before my time in the book?

“And what did they want from you? I mean, they showed you the picture… and you said you knew me, what did they want?” I asked her and she looked a little sad.

“I said I knew you… they told me that they saw me together with you at the gas station… and you seemed familiar… later they found you on the picture with them, but they can’t remember you… it sounds weird I know, but I didn’t wanna make any decisions for you, so I just told them that I would talk to you about it and they should call Sam. They want to set up a meeting with you, they want to know what’s behind all this…” Selena looked at me and shrugged.

“So you think this guy… Matt, or what was his name? He just wanted to meet with you again so he got information about me?” I asked and Selena nodded.
“But then why didn’t he ask you about it the first time? You have met him before, right?” I asked her and Selena closed her eyes and I think her cheeks flushed a little.
“I think that it got a little out of hand the first time…” Selena said and let herself fall down next to Sam on the couch.

“But do you get what Brian means?” Sam asked and Selena peeked at us with one eye.
“No?” She asked a little reluctant.
“You told us about this great night you had with him, and if he really was just after the Information on Brian, he wouldn’t have spent the night with you, don’t you think?” Sam spoke what I had in mind.
“Exactly, babe.” I nodded to confirm and Sam smiled.
“I don’t know…” Selena shook her head.

“So… did they say something else? You said four guys right?” I asked and Selena nodded “Right.”
“So what do we do? Make an appointment?” I asked the girls and they just stared back at me.
“It’s your choice Brian… If you want to know more about you and what they know, then do it. If you want us to be there, sure we will-”
“I won’t” Selena cut of Sam’s speech and Sam rolled her eyes “We will.” She continued giving Selena and angry stare.
“Fine, we will.”

I had to chuckle, “Okay.. I mean… I need to find more out about myself, but I don’t feel comfortable having these four unknown guys in your house. So If they call again, how about we set up a meeting, I don’t know… In some public place. Having dinner or something? Hell, if I know.”

“They don’t seem like… criminals, Brian. I think we should meet here, that way we can talk openly about everything.” Selena said making me frown, I didn’t like the thought of having these guys here, with the girls alone, I didn’t know them… even though they say that they know me.

“I agree, with Selena. I don’t think they want to harm anyone, if they really know you, it’s best we talk in a private atmosphere.” Sam said and I sighed, I couldn’t win against these women, anyway could I?
“Okay, but I don’t like it.” I said stubbornly.
“We know and we know that you just want the best, but you gotta listen to us too.” Sam patted my cheek before planting a small kiss on my lips, when her phone interrupted our moment.

“Here we go… that must be them.” Selena said and Sam got up grabbing her phone of the table.
“Yes, the same number.”She nodded and held the phone to her ear.

“Hello?”
“Yes, that’s me.”
“She told us, yes. We want to know as well… when did you plan to-”
“Oh okay… sure… sooner the better.”
“I’ll write you the address, okay… Bye”

With that she hung up and smiled “You prepared to see them in about 30 minutes?”
“You gotta be kidding me.” I looked around, not ready at all.
“I just need to send them the address and they want to come over right away. They sounded nice, I had a Jimmy on the phone.” Sam said and I frowned.
“Jimmy? Didn’t I say one of my friends was Jimmy? This makes sense right?” I said and Sam was already typing on her phone.

“I know I said we will stay, but would you mind if I go upstairs while you do the talking? I mean… I don’t really wanna see them right now, if you know what I mean…” Selena asked and looked kind of miserable.
“Oh come on, sweetie… I don’t think he fooled you into this… maybe he can explain all this as soon as they got to talk with Brian.”

“Maybe… and maybe I made a fool out of myself… again. So can I just distance myself a little…” She asked again and I nodded.
“Sure, Sam and I will manage, don’t worry.” I didn’t like that she was feeling uncomfortable so I thought it would be better for her to stay out of this anyway.

“Alright, they are on their way, babe.” Sam said when Selena squeezed my hand and made her way upstairs.
I was nervous what would this be like?
Would I recognize them right away? Would they recognize me?

Matt’s POV

After Jimmy had talked to Selena’s friend we made our way over to the car, I was excited, would Selena be there?
Could I talk to her and explain?

Would this Brian guy be any help in this? Would he remember us? Know what happened?

Jimmy drove us and I sat next to him in the passenger seat “I bet she is there. Don’t worry, everything will be solved, just wait.” Jimmy said and I nodded, what else could I do?

“I hope so… Do you think that Brian knows what happened? I mean how do we explain all this, when we don’t know ourselves? Did someone take the picture with us? I mean, and then he can see that we are not lying.” I asked turning around in my seat to look at Johnny and Zack.

“Got it.” Johnny held it up and I nodded “That’s good.”

“We will just see if he remembers us when he sees us, I mean… if not we just show him the pic maybe he can explain… maybe it’s just us that don’t know what’s wrong.” Zack said shrugging and I sure hope he was right, this entire meeting and not knowing was nagging on my nerves.

“We should be here in a few minutes… so who’s gonna speak, we shouldn’t just rush them and speak all at the same time.” Jimmy looked at me from the side and I lifted my eyebrow.
“What, now you wanna not rush into it, but you had to when I was with Selena?” I asked him and he rolled his eyes.
“We can learn… you know.” Jimmy winked and I sighed in frustration, sometimes I really hated these guys.

“That’s it number 1550.” Jimmy pointed ahead of us.
“Nice neighborhood, but I am missing the beach already.” Johnny said looking outside the window.
“Do you think he is not missing the beach? I mean… if you have known that, would you give it up?” He continued to muse.
“I wouldn’t.” Zack stated and I nodded “I couldn’t either.”

Jimmy parked the car near the house and we all climbed out, it was pretty late already and getting dark outside, but I was glad that they were still allowing us to come over.
This Sam woman seemed to be a nice girl as far as Jimmy could tell through the phone at least.

We walked to the door and I rang the doorbell, Jimmy standing by my side, Johnny and Zack behind us, I held my breath waiting for them to open up.
I heard some noises from inside as if an argument.
“Don’t be ridiculous, Brian… if they wanted to rob us, they wouldn’t use the freaking doorbell.” Someone said and I betted that was Sam, I already liked her.

The door was pulled open and a young woman stood there, she had a smile on her face and eyed us up and down.
“So you are… Brian’s friends, I assume?” She asked and behind her appeared the guy from the picture he just looked a little more grown up, or well the guy from the gas station, just as we remembered him.

“I said I would open the door, god damn it.” He muttered under his breath and Jimmy chuckled.
“We assume, that we are, yes. We talked on the phone, I am Jimmy, this is Matt, Johnny and Zack. You must be Sam.” Jimmy looked at Sam’s outstretched hand, but instead he grabbed Sam in a hug who looked a little overwhelmed and Brian made a step forward.
“Whoa whoa… would you keep your hands to yourself, okay?” He pushed Jimmy back and I held my hand out.

“Hey, nice to meet you, and thanks for letting us come by in this well… strange situation.” I held my hand out and Sam shook it, Brian looked me up and down and Sam grinned.
“Alright, how about you guys come in and then we talk about everything that’s going on and make the proper introductions?” She asked and I nodded “I think that would be good.”
With that she let us into the house, and I looked around, would Selena be here somewhere?
