Into the Unknown

Chapter 2

Mel's P.O.V.

I watched in fury as the girl pushed aside Kory who fell into the table she was walking by. I looked over to the guys sitting across the lunch room who tensed up and looked over. Matt, the guy whom Kory practically ran away from this morning had a scowl on his face. I clenched my fists and turned back to the girl and Kory. Kory had her hands on her hip where it hit the table edge.
"Watch where you're going, freak" They girl growled.
Kory gasped out, "Sorry, I didn't mean to get in the way of your fat ass."
I struggled to keep my laugh hidden as the girl stopped in her tracks but didn't turn around. I placed my hands on my hips, willing her to turn around and try something, but the girl only pulled her head back and laughed before walking away. I rolled my eyes and watched as Kory picked up her tray and then noticed the guys looking. She narrowed her eyes at them and then stomped away.
I looked over at the guys and saw that they went back to themselves and then made my way through the throng of people to catch up with Kory.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked, trying not to let the sound of worry slide off my voice.
Kory looked at me as if I had grown three heads, "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" She asked, shoving her hands into her pockets.
"I don't know." I murmured deciding to drop the subject, "You want to go to the cafe after school?" I asked as we got to the end of the hallway where we had to go our separate ways.
Kory turned to me and began walking backwards in her direction, "Yeah, sounds good, see you in Science." She turned and began to walk away.
"Okay." I sighed, going to my own class.
I walked into class and sat as far in the back as I could and then put my head phones in, hoping nobody would bother me.
Slowly, students began filing in after they finished lunch and filled the desks farthest away from me. I tapped my foot to my music and ignored the person who sat next to me.
I felt a tap on my shoulder which I ignored.
Another tap.
I rolled my eyes before taking out my headphones and facing him with sarcasm. I opened my mouth to tell him what was on my mind until I realized who it was. Then I had nothing on my mind.
The guy with the bright green eyes sat next to me, staring intensely.
I attempted to swallow the lump in my throat, "Yes."
"What are you listening to?" He asked, even though he didn't really seem to be interested in my choice of music.
"Linkin Park." I got out , hypnotized by his eyes.
He nodded and then stared straight ahead. I furrowed my brows in annoyance and confusion before placing my headphones back in.
Weird.

Kory's P.O.V.

History was definitely not my strongest subject. I thought it was boring and pointless. I groaned to myself in misery as I walked to the back of the class. I noticed the tall, blue eyes guy sitting in the spot next to my usual one. As I was realizing this, I didn't see the foot placed purposely out into the aisle until it was too late.
I gasped as I waited to hit the ground, but all too quickly, arms wrapped around my waist and caught me before I totally ate it. I sighed in relief and looked up into the blue eyes of my savior.
His face was hardened as he glared at the person who tripped me.
"Do you think that was necessary?" He asked in a scary voice, even I flinched away from him. the guy who tripped me swallowed deeply and shook his head vigorously.
"I didn't think it was, so you're not going to do it again, are you?" His voice was menacing as he glared at the guy who shook his head once more.
"Good." He looked down at me and smiled, his blue eyes lighting up, "Hiya, I'm Jimmy."
I blinked in surprise at his sudden change in mood, "Kory." I murmured, pushing myself away from him and grabbing my bag which fell to the floor, "Thank you, I appreciate it."
"No problem, I don't like rude people." He said, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Yeah, Me neither." I mumbled, pulling out my history book.
I mentally groaned when the worst teacher in the world walked into the class, "Today we're talking about the Civil War." He stated, slapping his attendance book down on the front desk.
I smirked, I knew a little bit of this crap.
"Who fought in the civil war?" He asked, getting straight into everything. Jimmy's hand instantly shot up.
"Mr. Sullivan?" The teacher called, probably wishing he wasn't here.
"The United States fought against each other, The northern Soldiers and the southern soldiers also known as the Union and Confederate soldiers." Jimmy answered, smiling.
Everyone stared at him, even me.
"Good job, Mr. Sullivan." The teacher sighed, bored.
Jimmy looked over at me and winked, smiling, "I know a little about this crap."
I nearly choked on my own spit.
