Rock And Roll Roulette

I Get All...Numb

I woke up, opening my eyes suddenly and inhaling sharply. A pain radiated throughout my skull. Fingertips tingled. Legs cramped. Chest cold and bare. All except the words spoken in breathless hitches and static television filled the room. No alarms. No phone calls. If it wasn't for her on-top of me, I'd suspect I was alone in my desolate home. I let out a soft groan, a movement coming from the figure on top of me. Mackenzie put her hands on my chest, pushing up lightly. From the angle I could see her perfect b.. Brian stop. You're such a pervert.

I know I am.

"Morning," she yawned, falling back onto me. I groaned in response. I'd love to go back to sleep. Her phone began to ring. A song I hadn't heard ever before.

Wake for the glory. I know you can't be...tired!

There was an edge to the music. It made me shiver slightly. The guitar was something I hadn't played in a while - the sharp, eerie, muffled noise. She grabbed her phone, her eyes half lidded struggled to see the button she was looking for.

"I'm calling in sick," she said, yawning mid way to finish her statement. Her breath was warm against my chest. I didn't want her to go and I didn't want her to get fired. I shook my head and she grabbed her phone. "Be quiet, okay?" I nodded. I was still very uncomfortable but it didn't matter. I had someone to keep me company besides the drunk assholes - aka, band mates. "Hello?" - pause - "Yes this is Mackenzie" - pause - "I need to call in sick." She was faking a sore throat and it was just spot on. "Yes, sir" - she cleared her throat - "Thanks. I'll be there tomorrow. Bye."

She smiled at me and laughed. "Breaking the law! Breaking the law!" She sang in a jokingly manner. She was now straddling my waist when I noticed she was in her muscle top and p... Dammit, stop, you perv!

Make me.

"What was that song?" I asked, looking up at her. I put my hands on her hips, smiling. "Your alarm, I mean." Mackenzie grabbed her phone and began to scroll until I heard this soft, techno guitar sound, crescendoing before dropping back down to let the vocals mix in.

Take out the stories they put into your mind and brave for the glory as you stare into the sky. The sky beneath, I know you can't be tired.

There was that guitar, diffused with abnormal chords. The male voice was strong, blending in nicely.

I wonder just how you shaped it to get back to your prize. Thrust! Ahead! Turning in circles, been caught in a stasis. The ancient arrival. Cut to the end. I'd like to be taken apart from the inside. Then spit through the cycle, right to the end.

The precusion stopped, leaving the techno sound and guitar. Her alarm. She was smiling, humming along as the chorus went right on again. The beat was different and eerie. Something I'd never tried with the band. The singer gave a harmonic moan with the beats towards the end and that was the only part she sang. The ending was drawn out, reminding me of the sky falling.

"'Tempest' by Def-," she started, being interrupted by some metal song. I laughed. She filled her lungs and began to scream along with it. Goddamn she had strong vocals. There was a techno beat behind it, too, the guitar not too heavy but just one of the right beat. There was singing parts, too. The song seemed random... For example, it got to a surf thing (..?) but it immediately got back to screaming. The bass coming from the drum was almost a metronome. I might show this to Jimmy later. "'You Know That Ain't Them Dogs' Real Voices' by I Wrestled A Bear Once. But the band name is one word.." She said as she coughed. It ended with fast and heavy screaming.

"Perfect," I said, swallowing back my laughter. "You will have a throat ache screaming like that. Of course, I've heard you scream louder." She laughed, tossing her back slightly like she did every time.

"Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange? Come with us and you will see in our town of Halloween! This is Halloween!! This is Halloween!!" She began.

"Pumpkins scream in the dead of night!" I added immediately.

"This is Halloween! Everybody make a scene!"

"Trick or treat - the neighbors gonna die of fright! It's our town, everybody scream!! In this town of Halloween.." We sang back and forth, fighting back chuckles. And for me, well, a moan.

"I am the who when you call 'who's there?' I am the wind blowing through your hair.." She whispered into my ear, blowing warm air down my neck. We both stopped singing, my hands gripping her hips tighter. "This our sex song now or something?" It took all the strength I had not to buck and grind my hips up to hers. I chuckled. "I thought it was 'Scream.'" Her voice was low. This why she called in sick? To fuck me for the third time in barely two weeks?

"You just like when I shred," I whispered back. Two can play this game. She let out a hungry 'mmm!' along with a deep chuckle. "When I play my guitar. You watched my fingers carefully, didn't you? I saw how you eyed me." I felt her buck once against my jeans. "You want me."

"You can't say much yourself, Brian." She used my name. A pause between her words. It rolled from her tongue. She leaned down and kissed, the same tongue that my name was purred out with battling against mine. Then my phone rang.

JIMMY INCOMING CALL

I growled and grabbed the device. "Yes, Jimmy?"

'HEY WHADDUP MOTHERFUCKER!"

"Are you drunk again?" He went silent. "Hello?"

"Oh, sorry! I was shaking my head! Not yet, haha! Is Pinky with you? OH MY GAWD PINKY IS BETTER THAN PIMP STRIPE!!"

"HEY NOT SO LOUD!! And, yes, I am here with Mackenzie."

"HEY PINKY!!" He yelled. OW. Mackenzie laughed and grabbed the phone.

"Hey, Jamesy!" Jimmy was loud... Loud as fucking hell.

"I LOVE YOU PINKY!!!" She chuckled.

"You too! Now what do you need?"

"Briannnnn is needed at zeeeee studioooo!" He said, drawing out some words. I sighed and nodded, letting them continue their conversation until they hung up. I was getting turned off quickly.

"Awe, no more excitement! I'm sorry, baby. Maybe later." She rubbed her hips once as she climbed off, giving her plump butt a teasing shake. Goddamn she's frisky. Were we moving too fast...? I jumped up and followed her. Then I heard a car horn. "Can you get that?" She called back. I went back down the stairs I just climbed and opened the door, the cool winter wind smacking against my chest.

Timothy was home. His...different hair was swaying in the breeze with cigarette smoke. I then noticed his eyes go slightly wider. Then I remembered...

We were sitting on the couch of Mackenzie's home, all except for Timothy who sat on the floor. Timothy kept avoiding me. I had pulled Mackenzie into my lap, my arms around her front and hers around my neck as she sat sideways.

"Lexiiiiii!" Mackenzie called. Alex called back with a 'Kenzieeeee!' in the same groan Mackenzie used.

"Pass me the other controllerrrrrrrrr!" Alex chuckled and did as told. "Okay, so, Timmy claims to be the 'God of CoD' so I need you to kick his ass," she whispered in my ear. Timothy was too sucked into his game to hear. Alex stifled a laugh. I smirked and took the controller in my hands, Mackenzie being my personal cheerleader. She's got enough to be captain, if you ask me.

"No fair!!" Timothy bellowed, throwing his controller down. "Your character has things that you bought!!" I had just won. In less than two minutes.

"Oh! Give it a rest, Mr. Homo!" I could hardly see the pink on Timothy's cheeks when Alex finished her statement.

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!!" He yelled, darting up the stairs. I went silent with the rest of them before it clicked in my head.

Timothy is gay.

"What are you staring at?" I asked, ignoring the thought.

"Why are you still here!" He yelled. I noticed his flush. "Oh, God, DID YOU GET HER DRUNK?! SHE GETS THE WORST HANG-OVERS!!" He was yelling at me. Overprotective. Typical.

"No, dammit! Calm down! She's in the shower, nothing happened last night!" He grumbled, shoving past me. I just stood there, thinking of how he's acting. The fuck is wrong with him? "Oka, then," I muttered to myself, following inside.

"Mackenzie! I'm home!" Timothy called. "Be decent before I come up!" Mackenzie laughed, walking down the stairs in a towel wrapped around her and one wrapped around her hair. I hadn't noticed how skinny she really was until now.

That's sad, thinking about it. Was I that blind in lust not to see her spine trying to shed from her skin? Or was I too thirsty not to notice the almost unhealthy thigh gap? Wow, Brian. Way to go. You were thinking you were moving too fast but you can't notice the things about her that are broken.

Music was filling the sound system. They had good money, seriously. I knew the band. Red Hot Chili Peppers was playing.

"Which CD did you put in?" Timothy called. We had to speak loud due to how loud the music was.

"Stadium Arcadium!" She chuckled, squatting down to grab my shirt off the floor then chucking it at me. She had a beautiful smile. Timothy nodded and I slipped the shirt on. Mackenzie started singing along with 'Torture Me' and, to my surprise, Timothy had a trumpet to play along with it. "Torture me, please!" She called before twirling along her toes to the slowed beat, singing softly.

She was laughing, flinging her arms around when suddenly her towel fell off. Timothy didn't react but I laughed, wrapping my arms around her before grabbing her towel and rewrapping it around her body.

"I'm gonna get dressed now.." She muttered. Timothy wasn't even eyeing her.

"Oh, please," he scoffed, "I'm not attracted to you, Alex, or any chick on this pllaaaaaa- Oh, Brian is still here!" He laughed nervously and stuttered, blushing softly. I nodded, turning to him. "What?" I chuckled, shaking my head and making my way to the stereo.

They had a lot - I mean, a LOT - of CDs. They had all of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, quite a few Deftones, three iwrestledabearonce (....?), three Marilyn Manson, four Metallica, two Pantera, but not one Avenged Sevenfold album. There was many more albums and I'm sure even more than what was displayed in front of me. I felt eyes on me. I turned around and saw Timothy's eyes focused on me. He cleared his throat and turned around. Mackenzie growled.

"Back off, grabby hands. Bri-Bri is mine. I think." I chuckled and turned back to the CDs. They have Godsmack! I haven't heard them in a while! I put in the album "Awake," grinning. I had learned to play "Bad Magick" on guitar a long while back and the memories of playing with Zacky for the first few times flowed into my head.

"Get back, get back on track. Get off of my back, bitch!" Mackenzie was sing/chanting whilst clapping her hands to the beat.

"It feels so bad! Bad magic played off of me! It feels bad! Oh, no, I don't wanna be your
friend!" I honestly didn't know if that meant drugs or sex. Either, I guess, work. The song ended and Mackenzie took the CD out. "Hey!" I said, grabbing her wrist. They were so small..

"'Hey!' yourself, douchebag!" I chuckled for I knew she was kidding. She put the disk I had taken out and turned it on a track.

"She's Only 18" began to play but was interrupted by my phone playing "Starlight" by Slash. The guitar solo was Zacky's ringtone. I shot a glare to Mackenzie and she turned the music down. She was still singing loudly..

"Hey, man," I said, still glaring at Mackenzie. She stuck her tongue out and kept singing. I scoffed and looked at nothing.

"Dude, where are you? We called for you an hour ago!" Zacky sounded aggravated. "You're always late!"

I sighed, "I'm on my way, shit. Sorry!" He groaned and hung up. "Mack! I'm going down to the studio!" She nodded and turned the music all the way up. She loved that band, I realized.

Even when I was outside, music seemed to seep through the walls and jump in my ears.

When I got to the "studio," Jimmy was playing random beats on his drums. Zacky sat in a chair sloppily, his guitar in his lap.

"Finally," Matt scoffed, his arms crossed. Johnny sat on the couch, one arm outstretched across the back and a leg crossed over the other. We discussed songs, trying to write
something. All I knew was something about drugs, sex, and alcohol. I don't know any of this love shit Matt talked about (And he's supposed to be the darker one. Pathetic).

At least, I didn't.

We discussed that maybe we could do covers. Then I remembered that song.

"Why don't we do something...different?" I called. Everyone shrugged. They had better places to be. "Like...Desorted guitar? Low percu-"

"FUCK NO!!" bellowed Jimmy.

"Let me finish, dammit! I mean muffled guitar intros with like... A little techno shit!" They all groaned. Bad idea? "Hand me the AUX chord!" Matt tossed it to me. I searched up Deftones and clicked the song 'Tempest.' It's alt metal. Like us! Jimmy wrinkled his nose at the techno sound. Johnny liked that there was a lot of bass. I think Matt was debating if he could smooth out his chords like Chino Mareno. Zacky was trying to match guitar chords. Maybe this was a bad idea.

"I don't know, man. It's different. Really different," Matt said. I sighed softly. "Is this about that chick?"

"No, no, it's not. I just heard it and thought it was cool! Damn, fucking shit!" Another song erupted into the speakers. By the same artist. "Could we like...try it?"

"I guess, dude. I mean what do you guys think?" Jimmy shrugged. He was listening to the song playing.

"I like it," Zacky said after a moment of silence. The song playing was "Passenger." "I mean, I've heard it before. I think it's neat." I had put my phone down, letting the top tracks play.

"It's deep. Musically and tone wise, I mean," Johnny said. Jimmy had started to play the beats on the drums.

"It's relaxed. Reminds me of an even more relaxed 'Brompton Cocktail'," Jimmy said.

The rest of rehearsal we were trying to play the song "Passenger." The guitar was interesting. The drum was relaxing. The bass mellow. The vocals smooth and connected. Matt was having a hard time, claiming he hasn't hit that lesson in his voice sessions he's had since "Waking the Fallen."

I didn't check my phone, and, when I did, my eyes went wide. Fifteen pictures of Mackenzie topless popped up.

What is she trying to do here?

Matt had finally sung the chorus, the most choppy section of the song. I might have been doing this because of Mackenzie. Who knows? I sure don't.

"I think the guitars have to be out of tune, guys," Zacky said, realizing the sound wasn't as desorted as it should be. It took about four and a half hours but we finally got a demo of the chorus. I went back to my house, empty and tired. I didn't feel like fooling around tonight.

I had taken a copy of the demo and riffs we got written down. I sat on my bed, listening to the demo and practicing the song over and over.

Maybe this'll work out. Maybe it won't. Maybe I'm doing this because of some chick.

Comments

Wow, that was crazy intense. Poor Zacky... but hey, he shouldn't have been sexting in the first place! And I'm pretty sure I know someone just like Mack.

Great job, pumpkin.
