Lost, Broken and Shattered

Part Nine

It didn’t take much to convince Michelle she would just be going to Liberty’s house for the night, which just goes to show how much everyone trusted her. As soon as the peppy blonde swung by and picked her up, they turned right around and headed straight for Zack’s mansion.

By seven, the party was in full swing. Erin was impressed by Liberty’s connections in OCP; it seemed most of the school was here, along with some other students from Huntington Beach High, where Zack and his band had went to when they were Daenerys’ and Erin’s age.

Even though everyone else seemed to be having a good time, Erin could barely enjoy herself. For one, she was worried about the state the house would be in the following morning. Also, she was paranoid that someone was going to slip something into her drink, like she had read about so many times before. What made everything at least ten times worse, however, was that Liberty was nowhere to be found; she had disappeared from Erin’s side hours ago.

Erin quickly goes to the kitchen to grab herself a glass of water, since it was the only thing she trusted to get her drinks from. That and she knew that she should refrain from drinking alcohol, even though she wasn’t sure where she stood on her pregnancy at this point.

There’s a couple making out on the kitchen counter when she walks in – Viktoria and some guy Erin had only seen a couple of times before in a few of her classes. They only break away for a moment when she walks in, just for Viktoria to shoot her one of her infamous glares before reattaching like magnets.

Shaking her head, she gets herself a glass of water before stepping back into the living room, which, to put it lightly, was completely trashed. Groups of teens, some of which she recognized from various classes, others whom she had never seen before, are dancing to the loud music, all with various alcoholic drinks in their hands. You could barely hear anyone over all the noise; someone bumps into Erin as she walks by, sending her water glass flying out of her hand and shattering on the hardwood floor.

She looks up angrily to confront the person who did this, but whoever it was, had already been sucked back into the crowd. Shaking her head in annoyance, she decides to find a quiet empty room so she could be free from all the commotion.

Upstairs, she gets to her room, finally finding Liberty, making out with Jackson on her bed. Both teens are completely shirtless, and Jackson’s pants had been removed and were lying not two feet away from Erin.

Not wanting to watch the scene in front of her, she clears her throat, causing both of them to spring apart, looks of horror dancing across their faces. However, Liberty’s face relaxes as soon as she sees it’s only Erin. She sits up, a little, twirling her platinum blonde hair, a familiar, empty look in her eyes.

“Can you guys please get out…?” Erin asks them shakily. Without protest, Liberty hops to her feet and practically skips out the door. But Jackson doesn’t make any signs that he’s going anywhere anytime soon.

“Actually, could I talk to you for a moment?” he asks her, nervously rubbing his head. Erin blinks at him, before shrugging and sitting down beside him.

“Can you make this quick?” she says. “I’m really not feeling well.” He sighs and nods.

“I just… I don’t want you to think there’s anything going on between Liberty and I,” he begins, causing Erin to raise an eyebrow at him.

“Okay…?”

“It’s just that… I think you’re really cool, Erin,” he continues, ignoring her. “I just… I really like you.” She just shakes her head.

“We’ve barely known each other for a week,” she points out. He sighs.

“I know… I was only wondering… Maybe if you give me – if you give us – a chance…?”

“I don’t know,” she says slowly. “I don’t think I’m ready for a relationship.” His face falls.

“Okay.” He gets up to leave. He then stops when something catches his eye, and he turns back towards her. “Is that yours?” he asks, pointing to a small bag on the bedside table that hadn’t been there before the party. She frowns and shakes her head.

He picks it up and holds it out towards her. It is filled with some sort of pills that she had never seen before, but can only suspect the worst.

“Don’t tell me you’re just like the others,” he mutters and she frowns again.

“What do you mean?” He laughs humorlessly and shakes his head.

“Oh come on,” he says. “Pretty much everyone in the school is on something.” He throws the bag down angrily. “I thought you were different.” She stares down at the pills.

“Those aren’t mine, Jackson,” she tells him. “I swear; I don’t do this type of thing.” He just rolls his eyes.

“Yeah, whatever,” he mutters, finally leaving.

Erin blinks back a fresh wave of tears. She didn’t have feelings for Jackson at all, but being accused of doing something like drugs was a little too much for her. It made her sick whenever people just assumed she stooped down to her sister’s level.

She hated Daenerys. She hated her so much; she always had a way of ruining her life. It wasn’t fair. Just because no one loved her, didn’t mean she had to ruin everyone else’s life as well.

She picks up the pills off the floor, angry tears streaming down her face. She throws the bag against the wall, only to have it spill all over the floor. Frantically, she bends down, scrambling to pick them all up. Before she can however, she starts to hear sirens coming closer to the house. Panicking, she sits back up, throwing the pills into the wastebasket and running downstairs.

Around the house, people are freaking out; scrambling to get out. Someone pushes her to the side and she falls onto the same broken glass that she had dropped earlier, cutting up her arm and side. She tries to push herself to her feet, cutting her hands as well. She feels someone grab her arm and help her to her feet. She’s about to turn around to thank them, when they pull her arms behind her back and clamp something cold and metal around her wrists.

“LAPD,” a deep male voice says just loud enough for her to hear. “You’re under arrest…”

Notes

A/N: Okay I know it's kind of short, and I apologize for that... But it's the best version of what I wanted to happen.

Anyway, I'm going to try to stick to this whole regular-updating thing, especially since I can update it easily since it's already been written. ALSO if you are reading "Famous Last Words" I'm going to try to update that regularly as well - Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays... That is, if I can stay on top of it.

Hope you liked this...
