*~*Kamalei’s POV*~*

Last night was horrible. I had maybe a collective of an hour of sleep. I’m so happy Zacky is going to come see me this morning. I was so sad I couldn’t tell everyone goodnight in person last night.

RING. RING. RING.

“Hello?” I asked curious who would be calling at 7 am.

“Hey, Lei? It’s Jimmy.”

“Hi Jimmy. Are you calling to tell me you guys are all coming to see me this morning?” I said excited for his answer.

“Uh….not really. I was calling to see if Zacky was there.” He replied.

“No not yet. Why? Is something wrong Jimmy?” I asked, not liking the tone he had.

“Well, uh, how do I put this? We kinda don’t know where Zacky went. Your brother and him got into a little bit of a fight last night and Zack took off in the middle of the night.” He said.

My heart sank in my chest. I can’t deal with anything else happening to me or to him or to anyone I care about.

“What?! Where’s Matt!?” I practically yelled thru the phone.

“Hold on.” I heard him pass off the phone to Matt.

“Hey how’s my baby sister?” he said like nothing was wrong.

“Fucking shitty. What the fuck did you and Zack get in a fight for?!” This time actually screaming into the phone.

“It’s nothing Lei. Don’t worry about it.” He replied.

“HELL NO I WON’T WORRY ABOUT IT! YOU LOST MY BEST FRIEND!” I shouted at him.

“Looking for me?” I heard from the doorway.

I looked over and saw Zacky standing there holding up a bag from Ihop. He looked exhausted, his eyes had dark circles under them.

“Fuck Matt. You’re fucking lucky. I’ll talk to you later.” I said before hanging up on him, not waiting for a reply.

“So, I’m your best friend now?” he said as he walked around to the table and started pulling out breakfast.

“Yeah. I mean Kelly is too but you have definitely become a best friend too. Who says you can have only one?” I asked.

“Nobody I know. Here now, eat up.” He said handing me a fork.

“This looks way better than the crap they tried to make me eat this morning. Thank you my Zacky boy. I’m so happy to see you this morning.” I smiled at him.

“Why is that if I might ask?” He asked me.

“Because, for one I wish you guys could have come back last night. Two, I just had a fucked up phone call from Jimmy saying you left in the middle of the night after you got in a fight with my brother. Three, you always make me feel better when something happens and lately something is always happening.” I replied before taking a bite of pancakes.

“Yeah, I had to leave last night. I was mad and I needed to think. Alone. Sorry if I made you worry my little Lei girl.” He said smirking at me before continuing eating.

“I’m just glad you’re ok and you’re here now. I really hope they let me get out of here today.” I said.

RING. RING. RING.

“Ugh. Do I have to answer?” I asked Zacky sarcastically.

He simply nodded, “You know you better.”

“Hello?” I said unenthusiastically.

“Why would you fucking hang up on me? Why am I fucking lucky?” Matt replied.

“I hung up on you because I have company. You’re fucking lucky it’s the person who went missing last night.” I said munching more pancakes.

“Oh, so he showed up huh? Let me talk to him.” He demanded.

I handed the phone to Zacky and he reluctantly took it, “Hello.”

“So you just couldn’t help yourself huh?” I could hear Matt say thru the phone.

“I promised her I would bring her breakfast and be here first thing this morning. I keep my promises Matt.” He replied.

“Remember what I said Baker. You promised me too.” Matt snapped back.

“I know. You guys coming down here?” Zacky asked him.

“Yeah in about an hour. Are they going to release her?”

“Don’t know yet. See you guys when you get here.” Zacky told him before handing me the phone.

“Matt, can you guys go get me some clothes and maybe a brush or something from my house before you come? If I get released today I would like to be presentable.” I asked him.

“Yeah. I’m sorry Lei. I love you.” He confessed.

“Love you too Matt. I’m going to finish breakfast with Zee. See you guys in a little bit.” I said hanging up the phone.

“What did you promise him Zee?”

He looked at his food pushing it around on the fork before answering, “I promised him that I wouldn’t push you into anything.”

I couldn’t help but laugh a little causing a little bit of pain, “Ow..ow… Zacky, does he not know you? You never push me into anything. What a loser he can be sometimes.”

“Yeah, I don’t know what he was thinking. He was mad I guess about the way we talk to each other. I told him, even Val told him that’s just the way we talk. It’s whatever though. If I am pushing you into something please just tell me?” He said looking into my eyes with his bright green ones.

“I promise I will.” I said sticking out my pinky.

He linked his with mine and we shook on it before continuing our breakfast.

*~*Kelly’s POV*~*

They were finally going to release my best friend from her prison-like hospital room. I was so excited to have her finally be around all of us again. I was helping her change her clothes in her room after shooing all the boys out. Her body was so bruised it was making me squirm a little just to look at it all. They had showed us how to tape her ribs and had given us instructions on how to take more care of her injuries. She was really bummed about the casts as I know she wanted to go to the beach, but the doctor told her that in 3 weeks the one on her leg could come off because it wasn’t as bad as her hand. For now though she would either need crutches or a wheelchair.

She was sitting on the edge of the bed with the blankets covering her bottom half as I bent down and pulled her shorts up around her body. She slid off the bed and balanced on one foot in front of me.

“See, I can do it Kell Bells…” she said buttoning her shorts.

“Not all of it Lei. You are going to need some help with stuff. Just take the help so you can heal correctly.” I told her as I untied the back of her gown.

I grabbed her bra and fastened it for her before grabbing her shirt. She put her arms up slowly and I watched her wince in pain from the movement of her ribs.

“Hurts doesn’t it?” I said to her.

“Yeah. Fucking ribs suck.” She replied.

“Micah fucking sucks. Why didn’t you tell me he was beating you senseless? I was so stupid to not see it.” I said shamefully.

This is partly my fault. How did I not see this all these years? I thought he was just being possessive but not abusive. I could have helped her get away from him. I could have helped her somehow.

“It’s not your fault Kelly.” She said resting her hand on mine looking into my eyes, “I couldn’t tell you. He would have come after you and your family. I would never be ok with myself if he hurt you. You’re my best friend in the world and my sister. I couldn’t put you in harm’s way.”

I pulled her to me and hugged her. I understood her feelings, but still wish she would have said something to me.

“You still should have told me. You were pretty prepared to tell Zacky about it. Why not me? I was right here. I could have helped you. It kinda hurt my feelings you could tell Zacky and not me…” I told her hurt.

“I don’t know. I felt like you would give me the ‘I told you so.’ I know you never liked Micah and I went against what you and my mom even said by being with him. I…I…I don’t know why. I’m sorry Kelly. I’m so sorry I didn’t listen. I should have listened to you. I should have trusted you about him. Can you ever forgive me?” she pleaded with me tears rolling down her face.

I wiped them away, “You don’t have to ask that. Of course you are forgiven. I’m honestly glad that you are alive. It was so scary when I couldn’t find you, and even when I did find you.”
I went on the other side of the bed and sat down, slowly brushing her hair.

“Do you think Micah is at the house?” she said as I was putting her hair up in a ponytail.

“Probably not. If he is, he’s going to be in for a surprise with the 5 guys out there ready to kill him. Did you call Mama?”

“No. I’ll call her on the way to the house.” She replied getting up and balancing again on her good foot.

I grabbed her wheelchair and helped her sit in it. I opened the door and wheeled her out into the hall with 6 faces smiling back.

“Yay! I want to push my little Lei-Lei!” Jimmy jumped up.

“Alright but not too fast please Jimmy.” She said looking up at his tall figure.

The nurse came by and gave her release papers to Matt before bidding us farewell. We made our way out to the truck and headed to her house.

She was sitting in the front seat with me, and as we pulled into the driveway of her house I looked over at her. Her hands were shaking and she was pale.

“Lei baby? You alright?” I asked her.

“Yeah.” She said taking a deep breath before opening the door to the truck, “Let’s go.”

“I can carry you Lei. Piggy back?” Matt said bending down on the ground in front of her.

“Hahaha alright brother. Making up for our childhood are we?” she laughed.

“I just thought it would be easier for you but whatever helps you sleep at night sis.” He chuckled as she slipped off the truck seat onto his back.

He stood up and we all walked up to the front door. Johnny opened the door first and swung it open. We all stood there for a minute listening for any movement. When we heard nothing, Matt walked in the door carrying Kamalei on his back.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” I called out.

“Looks like we are all clear.” Brian said as he walked towards the hallway checking the rooms.

Matt walked over to the couch and set Kamalei down on it.

“What is that all over the floor?” she said pointing to a trail coming from the bathroom.

“That’s your blood.” Zacky said stoically from the doorway with his fists clenched.

She looked over at him, “Zee come sit with me.”

He sat down with her on the couch and she reached for his hand and held it in hers. Matt’s ears started turning red before Val grabbed him by the arm and dragged him down the hall to a closet.

“Lei, is it okay if we just use these towels to clean this up?” Val asked her.

“Yeah. Whatever is fine. I’m not going to take half of this shit. He can have pretty much all of it.” She replied before asking Jimmy and Johnny to get her suitcases and fill up her clothes in the spare bedroom.

I opened the fridge and found something to drink, handing it to her and sitting at the kitchen table.

“My Zacky boy, look at me.” Kamalei said to him turning his cheek to face her, “Don’t be like that. It’s okay. I’m okay. Don’t be angry. We had to come and get my stuff.” She told him trying to convince him to calm down.

“I would have bought you brand new stuff if we didn’t have to come here. And I’m not angry.” He mumbled barely audible.

“But it’s not MY stuff. And you are angry. I can tell. Your eyes are giving you away Mr. Baker.” She smirked at him.

He finally cracked a small smile at her, “Sorry. You know how I feel about this.”

“I know and it’s alright. I’m here right?” she said grabbing his face in her hands.

Matt walked back into the room, seeing the two of them he stomped back down the hall before calling out, “LEI WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?!”

Zacky nodded and she let go of his face, “Hold on.” She called out as she slowly stood up and started to try to hop down the hall.

Zacky came up beside her wrapping her arm over his shoulders, “Geez girl. Can you just ask us for help? You’re going to break something else.”

I followed them down the hall and into her bedroom. I gasped at the sight. Micah had trashed it. There was glass and things dumped everywhere.

“Be careful Zacky there’s glass all over the floor.” I said to him.

He bent down in front of Kamalei and she slipped on his back as he carried her into the room. He set her safely on the bed away from all the glass. That was when I noticed her crying. I crawled onto the bed with her and wrapped my arms around her.

“What’s wrong Lei baby?” I asked her.

“This was my home. After today, I’m never coming back here. This is it. It’s really over.” She cried on my shoulder looking around the room.

“It’s okay Lei. Think about it this way, it’s been trashed in here. This is the life you are leaving behind. We are going on to something so much better baby. Leave this trash behind and move on to better things.” I said to her.

Zacky bent down and started picking up her stuffed animals and things off the floor. She nodded in agreement with me.

“Remember what you were going to text Zee, he made you realize what it was like to live life and that you didn’t need Micah in your life. This is your chance. Let’s move on. Together?” I whispered to her.

She grabbed my hand in hers and smiled. She started picking up things she wanted and put them in a bag nearby. I left her with Zacky and headed down the hall into the bathroom and started to dig thru the drawers packing her toiletries.

Hope everyone likes this chapter. Matt is a bit less hormonal in this chapter than the last one. lol. I know I have been a bit lax with updates than usual but personal shit takes precedence. Sorry?
