*~*Zacky’s POV*~*

We found her lying in the tub, unconscious with needles sticking out of her arms. She had been bruised and beaten. Matt checked her pulse and pulled the needles out of her.

“She’s still alive. Call the fucking ambulance!” He yelled as Johnny pulled out his phone and dialed.

Matt lifted her out of the tub and carried her lifeless body to the couch. He gently shook her trying to rile her out of the stupor. One of her eyes was swollen almost shut, the other was black. Her lip was split wide open and her nose had been bleeding all down the front of her. She had a huge gash on her forehead that was caked with blood. She had bruises, scratches and track marks all down her arms. Her legs were covered in black and blue welts. Her shirt had been torn and her entire torso was more black then it had been the day at the beach. She had no pants on either, only underwear.

“Why would you do this to yourself my baby sister?” Matt said to her. “Why would you do fucking heroin of everything?”

“She wouldn’t. She hates fucking needles. This is Micah. He’s trying to kill her. He always told her ‘if I can’t have you then no one can.’ I fucking will kill his fucking ass. ” Kelly said anger rising in her tone as she spoke, grabbing a towel and covering her.

“I’LL KILL THAT FUCKER!” Matt yelled. “Lei baby. Hold on baby. Help is coming.” Matt said rocking her in his arms.

“Matt they’re here.” Val said running back in the house with the paramedics behind her.

They came in and Matt moved aside as one of the paramedics came and asked us questions. We told him what we did know about her and how we found her. They said for us to follow in our car.

“Can I ride with her? I’m her brother.” Matt asked.

“Yes, but the rest of you will have to come after. She looks pretty bad so you will have to wait.” The paramedic told us.

I had stayed silent the entire time, letting the anger just build and build. The sight of her being wheeled out on a stretcher and into the ambulance lit a fire in my soul.

“Zachary, honey? Zachary, sit down.” Val said to me putting her hand on my back.

“No.” Was all I said as I balled up my fists.

“Zee…... Calm down Zee.” Brian said standing in front of me.

I grabbed a glass cup off of the table and crushed it in my bare hand, letting the blood drip down onto the floor.

“Where?” Was all I said as I turned to Kelly still holding the crushed glass in my hand.

She looked at me terrified. She knew that I cared about Kamalei probably more than Micah ever did and she knew this wasn’t going to end well. She looked to Brian and he shook his head no.

“WHERE IS HE KELLY?!” I yelled so loud that everyone jumped frightened.

“Probably at work. He works construction down in town.” She said quietly.

“Let’s pay him a visit.” I gritted thru clenched teeth as I walked out of the house.

“ZACK WAIT!” Val yelled, running after me out to the truck.

She grabbed me, pulling me down into a hug. As soon as her arms were around me I started to let the tears fall, dropping the broken glass in the yard.

“Shh… It’s okay hun. It’s okay. Shhhh….” She stroked my hair as I cried on her shoulder.

“It’s not okay Val. It’s not okay. That fucking bastard hurt her. He tried to fucking kill her Val!” I cried angrily.

Kelly ran out from the house, “Look! I found her phone. I think this might have been why…”

She handed me the phone, showing me the text Kamalei had written out but hadn’t sent. It was to me.

Zacky I can’t do it anymore. I want to leave Micah. He beats me and makes me feel like shit. I can’t take it anymore. I’m tired of living miserably. You showed me what it’s like to live life. You made me realize I can be happier without him. I know Kelly wants to leave too but I know I’m the reason she stays. She wants to be with Brian and I’m holding her back. I don’t want to stay here anymore. I can’t leave Micah on my own, he’ll kill me. You’re the only one I can tell about this. Please Zacky I don’t know what to do and I need your help. I love you guys so much…

Brian reached out and grabbed my shoulder, giving it a squeeze, “Zacky? Bro, you ok? Say something.”

“Let’s go.” I grumbled barely audible walking to the truck.

We all got into the truck and Kelly stopped at her house first and dropped off our bags. Jimmy and Brian made me sit between them in the backseat of the truck, so that if we did get there I wouldn’t be able to jump out and kill Micah. Val sat in the front seat with Kelly and Johnny rode in the truck bed. Kelly kept crying and apologizing for letting her leave with Micah last night. I knew she felt guilty but I wasn’t in the mood to console anyone.

“It’s alright baby. You didn’t know. It’s not your fault. No one blames you baby. Don’t cry…" Brian said to her stroking her hair as she drove.

“Guys it’s Matt.” Val said as her phone rang and she answered.

“Where are you guys? Why am I the only one here freaking the fuck out!?” Matt yelled thru the speaker.

“We’re on our way. We found something at the house after you left. We dropped the bags off at Kelly’s. We are gonna be there soon.” Val told him.

“Hurry the hell up before I fucking lose it.” Matt said before he hung up.

When we got there, Kelly pulled up to the valet and we all piled out. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking as I held Kamalei’s phone in my pocket trying to keep calm. My blood was boiling and I was sure that Matt’s was too by the sight of him. He was sitting in a chair in the waiting room clenching and unclenching his fists.

“Did they tell you anything?” Jimmy asked putting a hand on Matt’s back.

“No… my God I’m gonna fucking lose it.” Matt said rocking back and forth in the chair.

“Matt come outside for a minute…” I said to him as I walked out the automatic doors.

He followed me out and I took out my pack of cigarettes handing him one and lighting them. I pulled Lei’s phone out next.

“Here. This is the unsent message Kelly found in her bedroom.” I said handing him the phone.

I watched him read it and get more and more angry by each line.

“Why couldn’t she fucking tell me? Why couldn’t she just have been honest with me at the beach? We could have stopped this! I would have never let this fucker near her again!” He yelled out.

“I don’t know M. I wish she would have told me too. I knew something wasn’t right about this Micah guy but I didn’t think it was like this.” I said taking a drag.

“I did too. I didn’t like the way she talked about him. Then the whole thing when she came home… That’s why I had her call me every week so I knew she was still fucking alive. What kind of a big brother am I Zack? I let her come back home to this asshole.” He pleaded with me.

“You’re a good brother Matt. She didn’t tell anyone. Not even Kelly really knew what was going on. We have to do something about this guy Matt.” I replied.

“Yeah. We’re going to kill this bastard.” Matt said stamping out the end of his cigarette, walking back into the ER.

This wasn’t the way I wanted my vacation to start. I wanted to surprise the beautiful girl that I had only dreamed of every night since she left. I wanted to wrap my arms around her and never let go.

After another 2 hours, a doctor came out, “Looking for the family of Kamalei Sanders?”

All 7 of us stood. The doctor was a little stunned.

“Are any of you related?” He asked.

“I’m her brother. You can tell us all though.” Matt replied.

“Why don’t we find a room then? I didn’t expect there to be so many of you…” The doctor trailed off as he led us thru the doors to a private room.

“How is she?” Matt asked as soon as the door closed not bothering to sit.

“As of now, she’s in ICU. She is very badly bruised and we have gone ahead and taken a CAT scan because of the large gashes to her forehead and the one to the back of her head. We are waiting for results from the scan. She has 6 broken ribs as well. Besides the alarming amount of heroin we found in her system, we also found a large amount of alcohol, cocaine, and oxycontin. We had to pump her stomach to get it out. We’re you all the ones who found her?”

We all nodded yes.

“Well, it’s good you found her when you did. She probably would have been dead within another hour. We found something else out but I don’t know that you want to share this with everyone. It’s rather private.” The doctor said.

“We are her family. You can tell us all.” Matt said.

“Alright. Your sister was 2 months pregnant.”

“What?! Wait… did you say WAS?” Matt asked.

“Yes. Unfortunately Mr. Sanders, your sister was violently raped repeatedly. The rape along with the extensive blows to her body, she miscarried the baby. I’m very sorry.” The doctor answered.

Matt finally sunk down into a chair, putting his head in his hands.

“Is she going to make it?” Jimmy asked.

“It seems at this time yes. I can’t be certain until I see the results of the scans. The blow to the back of the head was very intense. The high level of toxins in her system stopped her heart once when we brought her in. Whoever did this to her, has been doing this for quite some time based off of the x-rays. She has multiple fractures to her ribs, one on her left leg, and even her hand. We have casted her hand and her leg as to hopefully get it to heal properly.”

“Can we see her?” Val asked rubbing Matt’s back.

“Only 2 at a time. She’s in room 502. The police will be coming and getting a statement from all of you due to the severity of her injuries. As soon as I get more information from the tests, I will come to find you Mr. Sanders. Again I’m very sorry.” The doctor said leaving the room.

I hadn’t realized my sight was blurry until Jimmy turned to me with tears in his eyes too. We all stood in the room and hugged each other crying for a long time.

“I want to see her.” Kelly said speaking up.

“Me too.” Matt said.

“You two go first.” Val said as she looked over at me.

Matt and Kelly walked out of the room first as we all followed them to the room. We all stood outside looking thru the window at first. She was covered in bandages and her right arm and left leg had a cast on it. There were so many tubes and things beeping attached to her.

Kelly cried out and broke down in tears, Brian catching her before she fell to the ground.

“Shhh…its okay baby. You have to be strong. You have to be strong for her.” He cooed.

She nodded and Matt held out his hand to her. She grabbed it and I saw tears falling from Matt’s eyes too. I put my hands on the wall and leaned my forehead against the cold wall. I couldn’t stop crying, my shoulders shaking as I tried to get a grip on everything that was happening.

She was pregnant. She was pregnant with that monster’s baby. I’m honestly happy she lost the baby. If she had the baby, she would be connected to Micah forever. I can’t believe he raped her and beat her nearly to death. How could he do this to such a wonderful girl?! I’ll kill this fucking bastard. I’ll rip his fucking throat out.

“Zachary, honey? Zachary. Look at me.” Val said putting a hand on my shoulder, “Breathe alright. We’re all here.” She said pulling me to her again.

I hugged her so tight and cried so hard. Jimmy came up to me and pulled me from Val, enveloping me in his hug.

“Shhh… Zacky boy. It’s going to be okay.” He said as I pressed my face to his chest, gripping the back of his shirt.

“It’s not. It’s not going to be okay. Look at her Jimmy! Look what that fucker did to her! Look what he did to her!” I yelled into his chest.

“We’ll get him. Don’t worry Zack. We’ll get that bastard.” Jimmy said to me as he rocked us back and forth.

“We will Zee. We’re going to get this fucker. He’s fucking toast.” Brian said reaching over and hugging us both.

Matt came out of the room with Kelly, both of them with their eyes bloodshot red and puffy from crying. Kelly ran to Brian and Val went to comfort Matt. I stood there as Jimmy and Johnny went in the room next. I walked over to the window and put my hands up and my face against the cool glass. I looked at her lying there as Jimmy tried to joke with her. She was unconscious and her only movement was her chest rising and falling from the oxygen they had flowing. I couldn’t stop crying and thinking of how badly I was going to hurt Micah for doing this to her.

Jimmy and Johnny came out of the room wiping their eyes. I could barely see anything, my eyes blurry from the tears that never seemed to stop flowing.

“Zee, you want to go with me?” Brian asked putting a hand on my shoulder.

“No. You and Val can go. I need to get some air.” I said between my sniffles.

He looked at me concerned, “You sure Zack?”

I nodded and took off down the hall. I couldn’t stand there and look at her like that anymore. I was falling apart at the seams and I needed to be alone. I walked out of the automated doors and sat on a nearby bench.

It was a beautiful day out. The hospital was positioned up on a hill overlooking the city and giving a front row seat to the mountains. There wasn’t a cloud in the bright blue sky but there was a perfect breeze keeping it from getting too hot out. I lit a cigarette and thought of how I should be enjoying this with her. Instead she’s inside a hospital bed fighting for her life.

I’m gonna fucking murder this asshole.

I walked back into the hospital and made my way to the room. Everyone was standing outside trying to console each other. I stood there numb. I wished I could take her place.

“Zachary. Go see her.” Matt looked up to me.

“I…I…I don’t think I can.” I stammered.

“You have to Zack.” Val stood up, grabbing me by my arms.

I stood at the door taking a few deep breaths to try and steady myself. I pushed the door slowly open listening to the oxygen pumping and the machines beeping with her heart rate. Tears started to flow as soon as I pulled up a chair. I sat next to her and grabbed her free hand stroking it softly. It was pocked in blue and purple bruises along with an IV. I laid my forehead on the bed beside her and just sobbed holding her hand in mine.

How could he do this to you? How could he? Please God, help her. Help my beautiful Kamalei. I won’t make it without her. I can’t make it without her…

Alright my sweets! This was what you all were waiting for. Unfortunately, there is hurricane Ana going on so I don't believe I will be able to post another chapter this weekend because the power will most likely go out= no wifi. However, I'm sure we will all be fine as most of it's passing us. I do hope you all enjoy this latest installment even though it is rather sad.
