Life According To Amber Lynn Haner

*Amber's POV*

I woke up late the following day, and stumbled out of bed at noon. Then everything hit me like a wave, and I grunted and headed to the shower. I totally just wanted to stay in bed for the day, but Dad was hellbent on getting me past the front door, so I just went along with it.

Danny was coming to to pick me up at two o'clock, and we were just going to go wherever the road takes us. We hadn't yet decided, but briefly spoke about it on the phone (when he wasn't fussing over me and making sure I was ok).

Once I was showered and my blue hair was dried, I straighter it then curled the ends, and fluffed up my bangs (which were in serious need of a chop, according to Dad). I threw on skinny jeans, my Hakuna Matata shirt that I wore on the night I got quite drunk, and a long sleeved cardigan, because I didn't want to show my wrists. I put on a lashing of mascara and lipgloss, before finding my black and white Vans and my phone. I looked in the mirror and sighed, as all I could see was the reflection of a broken girl. I then ran downstairs to see Dad and Danny talking in the hallway, and they both looked rather serious.

"Took you long enough, the poor kid's been here forever." Dad teased me, but I rolled my eyes.

"Sorry.." I muttered, before shoving my phone into the pocket of my jeans.

"Don't be, I'm just teasing."

"So..where do you want to go?" Danny asked, and I shrugged.

"Wherever, I don't really mind."

"We'll just see how it goes, and see where we end up. The bus should be at the corner in ten minutes, so we'd wanna hurry."

"Yeah, sure. I'm ready.." Dad then gave me cash, and told me "not to spend it on useless shit that I'll never even use, and actually buy something decent with it". Well then, we'll see.

"Danny, bring her back in one piece, alright?" Dad gave me a hug before Danny and I set off, our hands entwined together. This is a feeling that I could get used to..

We went to downtown Huntington, and it was great. There were a few dodgy looking people, so Danny kept a tight hold on my hand, and I really liked it. His hand fit mine like it was made just for me (that was so cheesy, I'm sorry).

All of the shops were open, so we hit the vintage record stores and all of the new ones, and I picked up a few CDs; I got "Savages" by Breathe Carolina, "Renegades" by I See Stars, and "Sinners Never Sleep" by You Me At Six. I also got a Pantera cd that Dad was looking at the last time we were at this store, so guess who's going to be the favourite child now (I mean I'm his only child, but still).

By five o'clock, it was beginning to get dark outside, and all of the city lights came on. Anybody who knows me knows I love the city lights at night, and knows that it'll instantly calm me down if I'm nervous or stressed about anything. The sight was truly beautiful.
