Life According To Amber Lynn Haner
Yes, Im Always This Sarcastic
*Amber's POV*
"Ok, talk to me." Brian said, sitting next to me on the sofa while I stared blankly at the wall.
"About what?" I asked flatly, and he sighed.
"Yourself."
"There's not much to tell."
"Then there's something, so tell me." It was my turn to sigh, and I wasn't bothered to argue.
"Im a bitch and nobody likes me."
"There has to be more than that."
"Nope."
"Are you sure?"
"Im positive, trust me."
"Well then..uh..we'll try "Twenty Questions"" Oh god.
"Enjoy yourself there buddy." He ignored me. I couldn't blame him to be perfectly honest. I'm made of high levels of sarcasm and bitchyness, and I never let my guard down.
"We'll start basic - favourite colour?"
"Black, like my soul." He gave me a look but said nothing.
"Favourite food?"
"I don't eat."
"Why?"
"Because I just don't, ok?"
"There has to be a reason."
"Im a vegetarian, but I just don't eat anyways. I'm never hungry." The conversation was dropped, and then I went back to staring blankly at the wall, not saying anything.
The reason I don't eat is quite straightforward; I've been told I'm fat. By everybody, including aunt Larissa and her snobby bastards of kids. I can go days without eating, and I'm doing just fine. It's easier to lie to everybody than to tell them the truth these days. You're probably thinking "but he's your father, he has a right to know" and you'd be right, but he's still practically a stranger, and he doesn't need to know that he has a screwed up daughter. We've only just met about a day ago.
"Are you always like this?" He asked after a while, and I groaned ever-so-slightly.
"Like what?" I replied, but I knew what he was talking about.
"So sarcastic and snappy about anything anybody says to you."
"Yes, I am. When you've dealt with the people I've dealt with, and been called what I've been called, you toughen up, and you fight back and never let your guard down."
"Well you're done with those people now. Nobody here is gonna hurt you, I can bet my life on that. You don't need to keep you're guard up any longer."
"And that's how it all starts. Everybody pretends to be nice to you, and then they stomp all over you in their Jimmy Choos and Nike hightops. I've had it enough, I know how it all plays out." And with that, I got up to leave, and he just sat there, shocked.
