Life's a Game, but it's Not Fair

Nineteen

Reagan couldn’t speak.

She just sat on the floor where Benji Madden had thrown her, eyes wide, mouth open.

“Don’t stare Reagan Juliet, didn’t your father teach you better than that?”

Her mother’s name was Aria Celeste Crenshaw. She had kept her maiden name after she had married Brian. That’s all Reagan knew.

That was all Reagan wanted to know. Her father, Jimmy, Zack, Johnny and Kappie had all raised her, this woman hadn’t.

“He did, and he’s going to tear you limb from fucking limb when he comes for me. You too,” she glared in the direction of Joel.

“A mouth on this one,” Aria said looking at her daughter, “maybe I should have taken you with me when I left.”

“I’m glad you didn’t. I had a real family. I didn’t need you to grow up. I had Kappie, and she was the best mother I could ever have.”

Joel and Aria both smirked, “and you are so sure of that?”

“Where’s Kappie?” Reagan demanded, “have you hurt her?”

But Aria said nothing, simply pressed a button on her desk.

Immediately, Benji Madden entered the room again.

“Now Reagan Benji can either lead you back to your room, or he can use force to get you back there. The choice is yours.”

Begrudgingly, Reagan stood and began to turn to leave.

“Reagan? You’ll find the accomodations here quite what you’re used to. We can try to be friends.”

She turned back and marched up to the desk, slamming her hands onto the dark wood.

“I may have gone through your birth canal. You may have carried me for nine months, but that does not mean I want to be your friend I do not want to know you. You did not raise me. You are not my family. I am going to go home and my father and my boyfriend will come here and they will kill you and every single person working for you.”

With that, she stormed out of the office her onyx black hair trailing behind her.

Aria smirked and looked at Joel

“She needs to be broken,” she said simply.

He nodded “the blonde was easy. This one is going to be bit harder.”

“Then let’s soften her a bit shall we? I hear Blair is shopping on Rodeo Drive all by herself today.”

Kappie woke up on her small twin bed in her dingy room feeling the same way she had for the past two weeks. Numb and guilty.

She had betrayed her family.

When her father had taken the loan from the Avenged Sevenfold gang he said that everything would be alright. Then her sister was in a car accident. She had seen her father up late in his study weeping because he thought Synyster Gates was going to kill him.

She remembered her father dressing in a suit and the anxiety she had felt when he left. She remembered the horror when her father had come back triumphant telling her she would be living and working for the gang that hands down the most brutal and heartless on the west coast. She felt like she had been sold. She was afraid they would rape her or beat her.

They had surprised her though.

She had walked in that first day with two suitcases, shaking like a leaf. Brian had opened her car door and Jimmy took her bags from her father’s Volvo.

There had only been 4 of them at the time. Back then she had called them by their gang names. Matt had not joined the gang until almost year before he and Reagan had gotten together.

Brian promised her respect and protection. None of the guys would bother her. They only needed someone to clean and cook for them. She would not be paid for the first 2 months as that would be her father’s final payments on his loan. Anything she needed Brian would buy within reason. After two months she could leave or stay the decision was hers.

It was close to the end of her first week when Master Gates’s mother had walked in holding a baby carrier. One look into Reagan’s big blue eyes and she had told Master Gates she would stay until Reagan was three so the little girl could stay with her father.

When Reagan turned three, she looked into her care taker’s eyes with such love and adoration and when she promptly cried “Kappie!!” for the first time and the nickname stuck, she knew that she wanted to be in this little girl’s life forever.

Now that little girl was stolen from her family, all because of her.

Suddenly, her door opened and Joel Madden entered. Her skin began to crawl automatically. He wanted her, it was obvious.

“Come along beautiful,” he purred.
Purred.

She inwardl gagged and got up to follow him.

She was lead to Ms Crenshaw’s office and told to sit.

“I have a surprise for you Katherine,” Aria’s cold voice rang out from behind her.

Suddenly, the door was thrown open and Reagan rushed in.

“Kappie!” She cried

Without hesitating , she threw back her chair and clutched Reagan into her arms, never wanting to let go.

She pushed back only to examine the girl.

“Did they hurt you?”

Reagan shook her raven dark hair.

Kappie breathed a sigh of relief and hugged her close again.

“As much as this moment is touching,” Aria said smirking, “I believe Reagan, there is something you should know.”

Reagan released her care taker and stared her mother in the face.

“We did not break into your mansion. Someone helped us. Someone with a code and a fingerprint that turned off the alarm system.”

The color drained from her face.

Reagan felt physically sick.

She looked from the two women.

The woman who gave birth to her, and the woman who raised her.

It wasn’t true, it could not be true.

“Kappie, tell me she’s lying.”

Kappie gripped her shoulders, her bright green eyes meeting her blue ones

“Reagan listen to me, I had no choice! They told me-“

“IT DOESN’T MATTER!” Reagan cried shoving herself away “YOU BETRAYED US. YOU BETRAYED ME! I’M AWAY FROM MATT, MY UNCLES, MY FATHER BECAUSE OF YOU!”

Reagan fled the room.

All Kappie could do was collapse into the nearest chair and sob.

Aria
