Hostage

Alicia’s POV

Zack stood in the doorway looking at me and Matt and I was about to let go of Matt’s hand but he held on tight.
“Zack, we need to talk.” Matt announced moving forward and dragging me along.
“I know, that’s why I am here. I need to apologize, Alicia.” Zack said and I looked at him astonished, why would he need to apologize? I was the one who did him wrong!
“No, Zacky. NO… I am sorry. I never meant to hurt you.” Zack walked forward and shook his head, standing close to me.
“Listen, Alicia. It’s not your fault. I wanted to apologize for the things I said to you. They were not true… I just didn’t find the right way to tell you that it made no sense between us, because I realized that you and Matt belong together, that he wanted you all along and I just got between you. I know it will be hard for me but when I see you standing here, I know it was right, not the way I ended it, but the decision was right. I’m sorry for hurting your feelings with my words, I like you, and I want us to be friends, some day… I just need a little time.”
I hugged him and finally let go of Matt. “I’m sorry as well, if you wanna hear it or not. I never meant to give you any false hope, I should have known that I wanted to be with Matt. Believe me, I like you Zack and I want to be your friend, whenever you are ready for it.”
He nodded and let go, then turned to Matt they stared at each other both not saying a word.
The Zack moved forward and punched Matt in the shoulder “ASSHOLE!”
“Ouchh!” Matt complained rubbing his shoulder.
“Why didn’t you tell me what was going on from the start? Why?!” Zacky asked.
“Yeah, I guess I deserved that. I don’t know… I thought I shouldn’t because you and she were happy. You looked happy, I didn’t want to get between it.” Matt shrugged.
Zack shook his head, “I know… I just hoped you would have talked to me… I mean you are my best friend, you should have talked to me.”
“I know… I’m sorry.” Matt looked sad and I wanted to hug him but stayed put, not wanting to disturb their moment.
“It’s okay. I will deal with it, just promise me, not to fuck up. I mean it… I will have an eye on you.” Zack pointed his finger at him.
“I think that’s a deal.” Matt smiled a little and they hugged, I guess they would do some more talking when they were alone, but right now, this was enough.

“Can you all now, please leave me alone in my sorrow… I will totally take advantage of this and complain all the time and want all the attention to myself, just so you know.” Zack said playfully but I saw the sadness in his eyes.
“You can do that. We will try to cheer you up, promise.” Matt smiled and we walked to the door together with Johnny.
“What’s up? We wanted to do some Bar hopping? Are you ready? I was thinking to drown your sorrow in beer is a good idea?” Johnny asked and Zack smiled.
“Right, let’s go.” Zack nodded also leaving together with Johnny, while I climbed into Matt’s car.

Matt’s POV

I drove together with Alicia to my home, the belongings she had from Zack’s house on the backseat.
I held her hand, didn’t want to let go of her.
“Do we make the test now? I mean, we cleared everything up, even the whole situation with Zack… what do you think?” I asked her a little carefully.
I wasn’t too sure how she would react.
“Yes, let’s do it. But I am pretty nervous.” She looked at me from the side.
“Me too.” I admitted.

I parked in the driveway and we walked up to the front door, I never left Alicia untouched, couldn’t stand not touching her.
And couldn’t wait to know if we would be parents, if I would be a Daddy, if we would be a family soon…
I opened the door and walked inside, then I grabbed Alicia into my arms when something beneath my feet gave a crunching sound.
We both looked down and I found a letter there, I frowned at it and was even more confused when I read mine and Alicia’s name on it.

I read the letter and my heart rate increased, I felt Alicia grabbing my hand, while we read the following lines.

Matt and Alicia,

I hoped we would never hear from each other again, because I knew if I would hear from you again it would only mean that something bad was about to happen.
I don’t want you to be scared but I have to inform you that the other two Abductors are planning some coup again.
I gave them an ultimatum until tomorrow to call of the plan they are having…
It’s one day left, but since you know you cannot trust these guys, I wanted you to know to be careful no matter what happens…
Best is if you two won’t be alone anywhere so they don’t have a chance to get to you…
Especially you Matt!
I will give them 1 more hour, if I don’t hear from them I will go to the police and sell them out- sell us out.
You will be informed by the police, I guess you will have to do another statement and will have to confirm my story.
I never meant for you to get hurt and I hope that someday you can forgive me – us for what we have done to you.
I’m sorry for everything that you have to go through, I will try to make it right again.
If you don’t hear from me or the police within the next 2 days, call the number I noted on the back of this page.

Be careful and don’t trust anyone.

I was shocked, they really planned on another abduction… I couldn’t believe it, we haven’t heard anything from the police in days maybe even weeks. They told us they would get the Abductors, but didn’t have any hints…
And now.. I couldn’t let anything happen to Alicia… We couldn’t get through this again.
“MATT?” Alicia voice sounded behind me.
“You have messages on your voicemail.” I walked to my phone and we listened to the first messages. Three in total...

First Message:
“I’m sorry for the way I reacted in the Club, I shouldn’t have said these things… maybe we can talk again… I’m Sorry.” Val’s voice and I rolled my eyes.

Second Message:
“Mr. Sanders, after you hear this message, please call us back or come directly to the Police station.”

Third Message:
“Mr. Sander, we tried to reach you before. Please come as soon as you can to the Police Station, we got the Abductors. We need you here at the police station to confirm the identity and have a final statement. Please call us or come over directly.”

I looked over at Alicia and we both sighed loudly “They got them… Sean.. he must have gone to the police.”
“Yes, let us go. I need to be sure that they really got them, take the letter with you, for the possibility that they need something else from us.” I grabbed the letter and we went back to the car, that’s hopefully the final time we had to go to the police and hopefully a long time that the criminals would stay in jail.
