Conjuring Her Deepest Fears

Chapter 10

Matt paced back and forth in his living room. He kept getting this feeling. A feeling that Brian was in trouble. He couldn't shake the thought out of his head.
Matt thought about his dream. He remembered the cold metal that pressed against his throat. It was so real. He felt everything and heard everything. It was almost as if it was really happening....
He sat down on his couch and sighed. "What the fuck is going on?" he asked himself. Matt had no clue what was driving Brian insane. Well, it could be that he murdered his wife of course. But Matt saw her, too. He saw her in the mirror and he saw her in his sleep. Brian was terrified of her...but maybe he was, too.
Matt couldn't take it anymore. He got up off the couch and grabbed his coat and his car keys out of his pocket. "Hey, Val! I'll be back in a minute," he called up the stairs. "Okay, just don't take too long," she called back.

Brain sat in the chair feeling weak and tired. He couldn't remember the last time he ate. His stomach growled loudly and he groaned in pain. He just sat there, looking around the empty room. "Where the fuck did she go?" he asked himself. Rain had gone upstairs and hadn't come back yet. She was probably planning to kill him. Or better yet, torchure him. Sitting there starving and freaked out was torchure enough.
Brian jerked his head up when he heard the basement door open. There she was, walking down the steps with an evil smirk on her face. She stopped when she reached the bottom. "How's my baby feeling, huh?" she asked. Brian glared at her. Rain poked her bottom lip out. "Aww. I think he's angry." "Let me go," he growled. Rain lit a cigarette she held in her hand. She took a puff and smiled at him. "And why should I let you go?" Brian gritted his teeth. "Damnit, Rain! Just fucking let me go!" Her smile disappeared and she placed the cigarette between her lips. Before he knew it, she back handed him across the face hard. "Shut up," she demanded. Brian's head turned to the side as he felt the stinging sensation. Rain chuckled and stood in front of him. "You know what's really funny? I've never done that before. It felt good." Brian looked back up at her giving her an evil glare. "Don't fucking look at me like that." He ignored her and continued glaring at her. "Who the fuck do you think you are? You walk around here like you're king of the world. You and your dumbass friend drag me out to the woods and act like nothing ever happened. Does Zacky even know, Brian? What about Johnny? What about Jimmy? Did you tell him?" Rain was glaring back at him now. She took another puff of her cigarette and continued. "You know what? You're full of shit. I can't even fucking believe you. You're a goddamn loser," Rain said. Brian lounged forward in his chair. "What the fuck does that make you?" he snapped. "The wife of a loser. I should've never married you. Marring you was a mistake. I mean, look where that got me." Brian looked at her. Dead.
She stopped talking when she heard someone ring the door bell. An evil smile spread across her face. "Well, well, well. Looks like we have a guest," she said. The front door opened and someone called out, "Brian? Hello? Where are you?" Brian's eyes widened as he realized who it was. Matt. Brian lounged forward again, desperately trying to break free. "Don't you fucking lay a hand on him," he growled. Rain quietly laughed. "Or what? You'll kill me?" She turned and headed up the stairs. Brian watched as she disappeared and prayed for his friend's safety.

Matt stepped through the door. "Brian? Hello? Where are you?" He walked into the living room and looked around. No signs of anyone. Matt knew he was here, though. His car was in the driveway.
Matt looked over and noticed the basement door was open. "Brian?" He started towards the door, but stopped when he saw something out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head and looked, but nothing was there. "MATT!" "Brian?!" Matt turned back to the basement door and jogged down the stairs. He stopped and saw Brian tied to a chair in the center of the room. "Brian, what...what the hell?" "Just get me out of here," Brian said. Matt ran over to Brain. "Who did this?" "She did," he answered with a shaky voice. "Who?" Matt asked. "It's Rain, Matt. She wants to fucking kill me." "What? Rain? That's impossible! She's dead!" "Shhhh. Keep your fucking voice down!" Brian whispered. "Tell me the truth. Who did this?" "I did tell you the truth. Now, untie me." Matt shook his head. Just as he was about to untie Brian, a dark figure walked up behind him. "Matt, watch out!" He turned around and saw her. She smiled at him, then smashed something on his skull. He heard the sound of glass breaking, then fell to the ground and blacked out. Brian looked at the floor and saw pieces of a beer bottle. Rain giggled and said, "Maybe it killed him." Brian looked back down and saw a puddle of blood. "Matt, get up!" "Oh, sweetheart. He can't hear you." Rain chuckled and turned to head back up the stairs.
