Conjuring Her Deepest Fears

"Brian? Come on. Answer the door! Rain?" Jimmy pounded on the door, just waiting for someone to answer, but no one did. "Come on, you dick. I know you're in there!" Again, there was no answer. Jimmy sighed. He wondered if Brian was maybe in some kind of trouble. "Fuck it. I'll come back later," he said to himself before turning and walking back to his car.

Brian groaned as he opened his eyes. His head throbbed in pain and his hair was damp from the blood. He went to stand up, but he couldn't move. It was dark, but he soon relized he was in the basement. He struggled and looked down. Brian was tied to a chair that was sitting in he center of the room. He squeezed his eye shut from the pain in his skull. "Have a good nap, honey?" Brian jerked his head up and looked around, but he didn't see anyone. Out the corner of his eye he caught a figure in the shadows. He turned his head. "If you're gonna rob me, go ahead and take what you want. I don't give a shit," Brian said. The person giggled. "Why would I rob the house that I live in?" Brian gave a confused look. "Who are you?" he asked. "It's me, silly. It's your wife." Brian felt his heart start to beat faster. "You're not my wife. My wife is de...gone." "No, I'm not," she said. She stepped out of he shadows and Brian was horrified. "I'm right here." He saw what he had been seeing since the night he and Matt buried her. The dead skin, the blue lips, the gray eyes that had been haunting him. Rain stood before him, giving him an evil smile. Brian knew it was true, but he didn't want to believe it. "What kind of sick joke is this?" he spat out. "If this is a joke, I don't think it's fucking funny!" She slapped him hard. His head jerked to the side and he cried out in pain.
Rain walked around Brian and stood behind him, then grabbed his hair and jerked his head back. "I've got a big, fat fucking bone to pick with you. You bury me in the goddamn woods like a fucking dog and then you get rid of my shit! Is that easier than divorcing me?" She pointed to a picture on the wall. "Look at that," she said, still holding onto his hair. Brian looked at the picture that she was pointing to. It was their wedding picture. They stood on the beach, Rain in a beautiful dress and Brian in a tuxedo. The sun was setting and seagulls flew overhead. "What happened to those two? They we're so happy. What happened to them, Brian?"
He felt as if he had been stabbed in the heart. What really did happen to those two? "I'm sorry," Brian choked out. Rain let go of his hear and knelt down to whisper in his ear. "What did I tell you the night I died?" It's too late to apologize. Brian knew that was exactly what she was talking about. She stood up and walked around him so that he was looking at her. She looked like she was crying. Rain reached forward and stroked his cheek with her thumb. "I loved you," she said with a hurt voice.
Brian cringed and shivered at te feeling of her cold, dead hands on his face. He quickly jerked his head away. "Don't fucking touch me," he growled. Rain pulled her hand away and tears rolled down her eyes. She slumped down to the floor and pulled her knees to her chest. Brian watched her. He wanted to hold her, but at the same time he wanted her to go back to her fucking grave. He watched as Rain cried and rocked back and forth. She looked down at the floor as she sobbed. But then, something changed. Brian raised an eyebrow as Rain's cries slowly turned to giggles, then to maniacal laughter.
She looked up at him then stood. "I'm going to have so much fun with you," she said with a frightening tone to her voice. Brian closed his eyes hearing her laugh once more.
